The House of the Dead 2: Remake will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG this spring, publisher Forever Entertainment and developer MegaPixel Studio announced.

Here is an overview of the game, via Forever Entertainment:

About
The House of the Dead 2: Remake is a remake of the second entry in the well-known and popular rail shooter series. Take on the lone role of a secret agent as James or Gary, or team up in cooperative mode to neutralize the dangerous undead monsters standing in your way.
Story
In February 2000, a small city was suddenly overrun by hostile creatures. Two AMS agents, James Taylor and Gary Stewart, were sent to investigate. Upon arrival, they noticed that the situation resembled the Curien Mansion incident from 1998. Determined to uncover the source of the infestation, they began shooting their way through hordes of creatures.

Key Features
  • Remastered music (with the classic soundtrack also available in the game).
  • Modern graphics.
  • Gameplay faithful to the original game.
  • Cooperative mode.
  • Multiple endings and branching levels.
Various Game Modes
  • Classic Campaign – Almost two years after the events of the first installment, AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart are deployed to investigate a city seized by undead creatures.
  • Boss Mode – Take on the challenge of defeating the game’s bosses as fast as you can.
  • Training Mode – Polish your skills in several available training scenarios to improve your abilities before deploying on a mission.

The first remake was so-so. I enjoyed it, but it's 6/10 at best. But obviously I'll still be getting this for nostalgic reasons only.

nah im good.

releasing lightgun games without a proper lightgun, that sums up the game industry in a nutshell.... who the hell would play this without a lightgun!
And its not like they could develop a really cheap and very accurate lightgun for current oled panels, its just that they dont want to. too niche.

No VR is a missed chance, its closest to lightgun experience. Also, this looks like shit compared to the original. Just release it like Sega did on PS3, and that actually had Move support which was so so but better than nothing.

It missing all the charm of the original, I didn't like the HOTD remake because they messed up the graphical style of it, this looks like it'll be the same. Shame, will still probably pick up on sale as I absolutely love HOTD2.

I think people pointing out they obvious choice for these games is now VR have a real point. Like you have something your holding with rumble with a trigger (at least with the PSVR2)

Just rework it to be a 3D VR game and it would be pretty damn amazing... or we night a lightgun back for all major consoles, but even then VR seems like a really obvious choice for an onrail lightgun shooter.

I'll get it when it's cheap, but man, I wish Sega was more involved in the development of these remakes. Probably would've helped in areas where it's not looking up to par.

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
Weird they do this one before PD Zwei considering the lightgun situation, who buys these or thinks they're good? Yeah technically it's still a "rail shooter" like Panzer Dragoon, Star Fox and the like but those were always meant to be played with a gamepad, like 3D shmups, not a lightgun, come on.

Though I didn't like how they did PD so maybe it's for the best they don't tarnish Zwei too (though these do seem to be a bit higher budget/effort than PD, but still miss the core point of lightgun games).

At least support VR systems for lightgun mode or something (as modern lightguns cost about half or even as much as a modest VR kit but are so much less versatile and useful).

Anyway the original still looks charming and stylish, while the last SEGA HOTD looked way better (despite the different style with crowds etc.).

I feel like id want a gun for this- like the old days. CRT days for these were amazing. I dont want a cursor in these types of games- i want the shots to appear on screen only.
That being said i could really use a nice VR Time Crisis that has a gun.
