To use the analogy of literature:how does this compare to shows like breaking bad or the wire?
Knock With Me, Rock With Me
Antoine Batiste toys with martyrdom; Janette encounters an old nemesis and a new suitor; Delmond and Albert debut their album; Toni meets a new ally; LaDonna struggles with living with her in-laws.
Treme is not really like any other show on television. Set in the city of New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the series follows a huge cast of characters through myriad subplots set in the citys overlapping cultural spheres, with regular tangents into the worlds of jazz musicians, local politicians, celebrity chefs, and even the occasional fishermen. The show was co-created by David Simon, the famously provocative TV auteur who created The Wire. Treme shares The Wires symphony-of-a-city panoramic perspective. With the show returning for its third season on Sunday night, Simon got on the phone with EW to talk about the long-term plan for Treme, how post-Katrina New Orleans is an allegory for post-Recession America, and the possibility that he might move on from television.
Fuck. Fuck. FUUUCK!
I understand where he's coming from, but I hope he stays with TV for our sake.
I had a big smile on my face during the entire premiere. Great to have Treme back on.
Truly. But, I've forgotten a lot. I had a lot of "oh yeah, the daughter is working at the coffee shop now", btu some things I completely forgot, like why is Khandi Alexander and her husband living with some other people? Did she decide to testify or what's going on with her case? Who was the guy in jail that the Dallas builder went to visit?

- Alyssa Rosenberg with a few thoughts on Nussbaum's review and Treme in general: What Treme, And Breaking Bad Tell Us About The Limits of Television
The guy in the jail was the guy sofia worked for. I think he was a city councilman or something and was caught money laundering. Its been awhile since I watched those episodes.
Saints
Antoine's students show interest; L.P. Everett gets a new case; LaDonna is forced to move; Hidalgo finds a new angle; Janette's resistance slips; Albert receives news about his health.
Seriously. This is my favorite show.People will discover and love this show in 3 years, after it's over. Good news guys, we all get to be Treme hipsters!

NOLA.com said:Two series overseen by producer Ryan Murphy the NBC sitcom The New Normal and the Fox musical comedy Glee referenced HBOs Treme in the same week.
In the first, which aired Tuesday (Sept. 25), two characters were challenged with rounding up enough African-American friends to populate a diverse party.
I will not be called a bigoted, arm-chair liberal by anyone, said one character. Maybe we can get the cast of Treme to come. I sat next to them at the Golden Globes last year. Since nobody watches that show anyway, they can easily pass as your run-of-the-mill non-famouses.
During Thursdays (Sept. 27) Glee, two characters are depicted hate-watching Treme, one of them by remote via Skype or whatever.
The only time were really in sync is when were hate-watching Treme together, said one.
These songs go on forever, said the other. Why isnt there more zydeco?
The origins of these references may come from a 2010 appearance by Treme co-creator David Simon on The Colbert Report, in which...
