There is a giant hoopla going around about a group called Morality in Media that's trying to push their agenda across the board. So they're targeting visual novels because it's a niche genre and no one is going bother defending them which makes them an easy target. There's been a video on the Jimquisition about the whole mess. Not sure who pressured Valve if it was the National Center on Sexual Exploitation or something else that caused this knee jerk reaction.
