One of the very few I have the time to watch videos from. Which means a ton in my world. Enjoy some of his stuff a lot.

Just like with Zelda (Why was that its own thread again?), I now have a strong desire to play NieR.

I love Digimon, but I think I backed the wrong horse on an early-year video game here.

are we gonna have this thread locked up too or what? Waiting for the Angry Joe/Jim Sterling video discussing this game and the mods to take that down too. :(
I asked in another thread but it was locked, isnt EA one of the publishers/studios the SAG has a Strike against ? (voice actors strike)

I don't think it's fair to hate on the fact the voice actors are lesser known. New talent is a good thing, of course if they performed badly, that's worth criticising, but not just because they aren't some Hollywood actor.

agreed

hollywood actors are overvalued in games as much as they are in animation. If they aren't going to put in the work to be a voice actor and not an "actor" then they are only there for the name

Obviously people like Keith David, Mark Hamill and Dwayne Johnson can do it. Keifer Sutherland though?

I get what you mean, but it is true that people like Martin Sheen gave roles like The Illusive Man gravitas.

And it doesn't help that indeed, the voice acting in Andromeda isn't good.

This is true, but at the same time the voice acting is pretty bad. You have to wonder if these particular actors were chosen because they were lesser known and cheaper.

well they have 1 (possibly 2? that one salarian who's voiced by the dude in silicon valley) hollywood actor/s. but isnt EA/bioware the studio that SAG has a strike on so that'd explain why a the quality might be different since it was probably a non-union job.

Who's this... Shepard guy he's talking about with regards to ME1-3?

I seem to recall Jennifer Hale scoring the original's trilogy PC, not some weird guy nobody has ever heard about...

I think he's a bit too brutal, to be honest. I'm enjoying the game. I'm enjoying the plot in particular--legit have no idea where it's going. The idea that rather than this stuff being ancient, it's actually only a few hundred years old is pretty interesting. The way the villains exhibit both envy of humanity's abilities and yet act as if they're better than everyone by virtue of
being everyone
makes for some cool interactions. But what I really like is how, several times, throughout the plot, I find myself having to make decisions where I genuinely don't know what the right decision is, and not nearly enough games do that. Too many RPGs try to let you have your cake and eat it too; MEA actually has the balls to let me make meaningful decisions.

Also, I gotta disagree with Dunkey about the open planets being pointless; it's a game about exploration. Gotta have something to explore. That said? The game's so overly reliant on "go do this repeatable mission type fifty times over" that somehow, MGSV's Afghanistan felt like a way more interesting uncharted territory.

Real talk: Meer's Shepard is better.

You know a game is... unpolished, when freaking Dunkey's video of it is semi-serious and actually talking about the game's problems.

I like dunkey but that was a fucking weak video. He makes it out like Sara Ryder is THE main character which you are forced to play with and shits all over the game for things that don't even make any sense.

For example, he makes fun about the one Krogan's voice but if you would have payed attention to...well.duh, the GAME you'd know its a female character and thats how female Krogans sound and look like.

He's a fun guy but he clearly goes for the "lets hate Andromeda"-meme. because thats all that it is, a shitty meme and hyperbole overreaction.

Damn, he shit all over it. And not even in a joking way.

That voice acting though...didn't think anything was gonna top BotW in that department.
