Seriously? Asymmetrical joysticks (last time I check my hands were symmetrical), "X Y A B" (what is this, a math test?), buttons feel terrible to press, cheap plastic feeling, AA batteries (lol), no haptics.

Meanwhile the dualsense is sexy AF, with proper ergonomics, next gen haptics, premium feeling, rechargeable, memorable and intuitive symbols for prompts. It's the only controller that checks all the boxes.

You hands are not symmetrical and "X Y A B" is because of this:

I compared it because it's the professional controller which should have better features and a battery life that blows away our standard controllers. It's only disingenous to you because you didn't like the comparison.

You can call BS all you want. It's my experience. Come on over. DM me and I will give you my home address. I am not alone on the battery life complaints.

I am not buying a professional grade $200 wireless controller so I can turn around and use it wired. Funny thing is, the battery life is so bad, I have my Macbook next to me and I actually DO plug the controller in while I play because of that. It's pathetic.

We have 2 x dual sense edges here
I even upgraded the battery in one of them, but both of them easily need to plug into wired charging at least once a day while playing, honestly it’s pretty pathetic in that respect and no I’m not going to be turning off all the things that make the controller good in the first place to get longer battery life

The. Xbox series controller (even the elite 2 that I use) has very backward tech compared to what’s available these days and the stick drift is real, even on the dualsense edge the stick drift is real, all companies (inc Nintendo) need to do better with their controllers, they all scream sustainable at us over these but use such shoddy parts that they are effectively consumables, a controller shouldn’t be considered consumable and they aren’t held to account on this properly

I never had an issue swapping between Symmetrical/Asymmetrical design and I'm old enough to have grey ass hairs.

Those sweet haptics and adaptive triggers - those are hard to live without.

I thought about that. But I think I am just going to put my Edge back in the case and use the controller that came with my PS5 Pro. I haven't used it yet, so I am guessing the battery should last a decent amount of time compared to the Edge. Now, to replace my broke ass Elite 2 controller.

Most of the praise comes from Sony being shit at controllers, the only one decent they made was the OG dual shock.

Also, asymmetrical sticks are superior.

Brand affinity and/or they've never tried anything else before.

Even if you look outside the console space, 8bitdo and even cheap Chinese brands like GameSir make far better controllers than them.

As far as I'm concerned the current generation of Xbox controllers are bottom of the barrel, which is nuts considering back in the 360 era their controllers comfortably stood above everything else.

To stand still is to go backwards.

I think the Xbox wireless controller is the best one I´ve tried so far for PC gaming. The battery life is excellent, build quality is good, the grip is comfortable and the triggers are very responsive. It´s been compatible with every game I´ve tested so far on PC, it connects seamless and without hassle. Love it. I don´t see how you can be negative towards this controller, especially if you game on PC.

Suits OPs mental age, I suppose. My 1 year old would probably enjoy triangles over letters as well.

That said, the controllers are fine. Not mindblowing, but compared to the shit that was the PS4 controller anything looks and feels spectacular.

I share the sentiment that the Elite Series 2 is a great controller. Love it on PC with the USB dongle. That said, I have had one crap out on me (bumpers wouldn't register) and another is now showing signs of double pressing every so often. Not good! Only thing I've tried that comes close is the Razer Wolverine V3. The Dualsense Edge is a nice controller, but I like the asymmetrical Xbox design plus the extra back buttons.

I have large hands.. when I'm moving right while aiming left on "Symmetrical" setups it's basically like I'm trying to thumb wrestle myself.. I'll take the Xbox style every day of the week..
ABXY is also superior to those stupid symbols.

I mainly use a Dualsense with hall effect sticks on PC, but do admit I find the Xbox layout more comfortable. The 8bitdo controllers do it right imo. Anyway, in reality Mouse & Keyboard > Controllers

Personally think the ergonomics of the XB1+ controllers were/are better than the DualSense.
Might just be muscle memory coming from the DreamCast but the D-Pad/Analogue stick locations feel natural for me.

Really like the haptics of DualSense and with good implementation Gyro.

If you are on PC and dont want to download the Xbox Accessories App then you can just use Steam controller preferences.

Personally I find Dual Sense the most comfortable controller out of the vendor provided ones.

That said I do like the Xbox controllers, they are solid, just lacking in functionality a bit.

MS Elite 2 is great on theory as well, just doesn’t last at all, awful build quality.

I put my controller in the charging dock in the evening, pick it up next day and just play video games without worrying about batteries or cables. If I play a lot, 6-8 hours, then I just drop the controller back in the dock and rotate to the second controller and continue gaming. Just no hassle and no worry.

My sofa has built in USB-C ports, which I use to power both my PS5 and Xbox controllers, no more dealing with recharging hassles or replacing batteries. The only ones I still have to swap out are the Switch Joy-Cons, and of course, they always die at the worst possible time.

I’ll take asymmetrical sticks any day. You have your thumb on the left stick almost the entire time, so it feels best to have it in the location where your thumb rests on it the most naturally.

I haven't had that issue, and I use both daily. Well, I use the Elite 2 and the DS Edge. Not sure about each standard controller.

The dualsense has a polling rate that's more than 7x faster than xbox and people think AA batteries are a godsend because of it. Truth is that it's a controller that is slow and lacks a lot of features.

I agree with most of that except stick placement on Xbox is definitely superior. Not only is the analog stick in a better position but I also prefer the d-pad in the lower position.

I prefer the Dual Sense, but the Xbox controller is fine.

My biggest issue with the newest Xbox controllers is that they feel cheap in comparison to the 360 controllers.
