Why does Sony hate their own IP?

Where's GoW 1&2 remake?

Where's infamous 1&2?

Where's Killzone trilogy?

Where's Resistance trilogy?

Where's SOCOM trilogy? (quasi-milsim is hot right now btw)

Where's Syphon Filter? (Sam Fisher is apparently dead so stealth/espionage is up for the taking)

Where's MotorStorm or Twisted Metal? (racing genre desperately in need of something besides GT & Forza)

Also, where's Uncharted?

Where is Blooborne Remastered?

Where's GoW 1&2 remake?
Santa Monica has been making new GoW games for the last 7 years.

Where's infamous 1&2?
Sucker Punch has a new hit IP

Where's Killzone trilogy?
Guerilla is a Horizon house now

Where's Resistance trilogy?
Insomniac is a Marvel house now

Where's SOCOM trilogy? (quasi-milsim is hot right now btw)
Zipper is dead

Where's Syphon Filter? (Sam Fisher is apparently dead so stealth/espionage is up for the taking)
Bend is on borrowed time and probably just killed the Syphon Filter game they had been working on

Where's MotorStorm or Twisted Metal? (racing genre desperately in need of something besides GT & Forza)
Evolution is dead and Firesprite's GaaS Twisted Metal game is cancelled

Also, where's Uncharted? Nate can be done, that's fine, there's still so many other characters in the franchise. ND has been taking you for a nantucket sleigh ride this gen, 5 years in and delivered 1.5 remasters and a fucking CG trailer.
Sony isn't touching this until they can make another hit out of it.

Look, I have nostalgic feelings about those games too. But the entire industry has been going on a layoff spree the last few years. Sony barely has enough studios to work on the games they have right now. It's why it's taking forever to release anything.

What always surprised me is that Sony buried the Killzone IP and wasn't even trying with any other first-person shooters.

But who knows, maybe they correctly predicted that CoD franchise will never leave the PlayStation ecosystem and there's no need for a backup plan.

Sony dont hate their own IP, but theyve relied way too much on controlling third party developers and completely neglecting to do something about their own IPs. And now theyre caught out losing the control of many third parties while having nothing to replace them in terms of first party. Its a kind of hubris. And its going to take years for them to build that IP portfolio back up, if its even possible in todays GAAS climate.
