Yea, when I read that the first time I just shook my head.

How about plug and play.

I honestly don't know why they can't allow for older sticks to just work but part of me believes it's just Mad Catz just trying to sell PS4 sticks

I don't know why people only blame Sony for this. Like most people said, each party has their own fault on this.

And also, are people really concerned about SFV? Sony is only producing it. Capcom is developing it, not other ocean. *facepalm* my god. You people...

All three parties are to blame, as mentioned several times. And personally I'm not worried about SFV.

Good job Sony, you cheaped out on THE tournament standard edition by hiring Other Ocean to port it. You reap what you sow

How do you figure this? Why would the mod community have anything to do with sf5 coming to PC?
It doesn't take much to figure out where Capcom got the idea for the alternate costumes in the SFIV games from, generally speaking. Some of them are directly based on alt outfits and ideas from the mod community.

It's a pool of inspiration for them, and they'd be dumb to cut off the well, so to speak.

It's not. It's Sony locking their hardware down due to that USB service dongle "hack" on the PS3.

That is all on Sony. They lock out USB controllers as a security precaution. It's been explained by the Lab Zero guys here.

Despite all this I bet they made a huge profit off the PS4 version already, so I don't know if Capcom's exactly hurting. It is embarrassing though

Capcom and Sony had to make sure the port was in excellent condition. I'm sure sf5 will be fine, but this mess makes people worry.

Lol. That's a huge stretch. Huge.

I'm happy that Capcom and Evo did the right thing.

So disappointed with Sony with this situation and can't have give people refunds for the "ultimate version" of the damn game!!

This is Capcom's IP and they should have been responsible for the quality control. To do what they did just shows how much they care about their reputation.

People are doing the same with 343 and Halo 5. Halo 4 launched without issues. MCC was outsourced, just like this. Hence, the issues.

Iron Galaxy did Borderlands Vita and it was pretty bad

That might be the case (from what I've heard--I personally haven't tried the Vita version), but there's a big difference between attempting to shoehorn a game like Borderlands 2 onto a less powerful handheld with lots of restrictions, and (supposedly) porting a game like USF4 onto a much more powerful new console with (theoretically) no shortcomings to hold it back.

Iron Galaxy does have fighting game experience. They probably would've been a much better choice to handle USF4. As far as BL2 goes, they probably put up a good effort, considering the constraints of the Vita hardware.

On the other hand, Other Ocean completely dropped the ball here. USF4 should've been a slam dunk. I don't think anyone would've predicted it would turn out so badly. That's probably why tournament organizers were so confident that the PS4 version would be the "definitive" version, before they saw the final product and were (unfortunately) proven wrong.

Of course, Sony and Capcom should have also ensured that it would live up to the hype. It's shocking that they would even consider releasing it in such shoddy condition, with so many flagrant flaws. I hope they've learned their lessons now.

USF4 on PS4 is as much a throwaway game as Omega Mode.

The game probably would of ended up near the release of SF5 had the dev been given more time.

There seems to be a lot of short term thinking with these remastered ports.

Hire the lowest bidder, track record be damned.

Perhaps also there is much ignorance and apathy towards technical competence at the executive decision making level. You'd think a company like Sony would be smart enough to hire wise long term decision makers in an arm as critical to its long term success as PlayStation.

From my experience only one studio has demonstrated flawless technical prowess to port one generation up. That studio is Hexadrive. Either them, or get the original developers on board.

I can't stand sloppy or dodgy deals to the least deserving.

Quoted for posterity. There is so much truth in this statement. Software development is so hard, and farming it out to the lowest bidder means getting the lowest tier talent available. It's a slap in the face to every one of us developers that attempts to improve their technical skills.

I have this same gripe with any software company that doesn't do technical interviews.

Those numbers alone are enough reason to not use anything other than the 360 version. I don't expect the PS4 version to ever come close.

What if they fix the game before evo?

like others have said, it won't be. But even if by some miracle, it is..

Well of course not. Even if it becomes the definitive edition like it was supposed to be, you can't just announce a week before EVO that you're switching to PS4.

Yeah, good point. At least now they won't be under any pressure to release fixes quickly and hopefully they will take their time, however long it takes to do whatever it is they need to do.

See kids. This is what happens when you take the lowest contract bid in order to save money and take advantage of your consumers. You hire a firm that has done nothing but elevate High Voltage Software to Ready at Dawn level in comparison. You then lose credit with the consumers and fight gaming arena by having your version of the game removed from all the tournaments AFTER going to great lengths to make it the exclusive version of said tournaments.

Good job Sony, Third Party group at Sony and Capcom for not giving a shit. What a great week for Sony, you have this failure and then you have Andrew House going "Vita is dead" and having PR trying to lie to the fanbase.

Street Fighter may as well be first party. If they gave a shit about it they would of tested it properly.
