Has sony said anything about fixing the game?

patch coming this week. haven't said what is being fixed yet

I seem to recall people coming into the many threads saying they couldn't see the "lag" and that the menus were like any other version.

Some people can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps.

I was watching a stream earlier and I didn't really notice menu lag in the character select screen. Seems like it doesn't happen all the time...because I have seen it where it was slow as molasses

Other Ocean has already tweeted that they "are working with their core partners in Sony Computer Entertainment and Capcom to fix all reported issues in a timely manner"

The thing is, Other Ocean is still handling the patches. If it really is a PS3 port like people are saying, how are they gonna fix it when that's just the nature of using an inferior version?

that seems odd if its a ps3 port...

I'd figure it would be easier to port over the PC build rather than the PS3 build seeing as how exotic the architecture of the ps3 was.

Could this have an negative effect on making PS4 the hardware of choice for SFV, @ future tournaments and such?

How in the frozen hells could Sony fuck off something like Street Fighter... and Otherocean?
Who's fucking decision was that?

Sony's been having a 'good' month. Haha.

No

You know, if this was a PS3 port that would actually explain a lot on why the game runs so poorly on PS4. I remember Naughty Dog expressing how hard it was porting over Last of Us to the PS4, but then again that game was build from the ground up for the PS3...

No because Capcom is developing street fighter 5 likely with the ps4 in mind as it will likely be the base platform for the game.

This game is going to be a blip on the Casuals radar. It'll be forgotten after e3. The only people that will care that this was messed up or will want it fixed after a month is the fgc. This isn't going to affect sf5 I'm the slightest.

There is no other version to play except PC... so you will compared SFV with which other version? Future tournaments will use SFV for PS4 no matter what.

My question had the PC version in mind, as the alternative.

I'm not very familiar with the deal for SFV, but I figured tournaments weren't necessarily a part of that deal anyway, since we're talking about locking a particular game and not anything else.

Thanks for the responses.

That was what I was referring to.

You can see here where Capcom got the idea of adding Poison to the game from.

If I had more time and a more comprehensive source to pull up more concrete examples I'd be able to frame this better, but the evidence is there.

Not saying Capcom took ideas wholesale, but a decent number of mods were the bedrocks of inspiration for ideas that they themselves used, even if in the end they went in a very different direction.

Don't see why this is controversial.

Really don't see what the mod community has to do with anything.

It's got great ideas for costumes that, however influential they may be on Capcom, nonetheless have to get noticed from the team every now and again. At the very least they may light a fuse in their head and go "Ah yeah! Why don't we put Poison in the game. It seems the fans clearly want her in seeing this Juri mod they made to kind of look like her".

You know, that sort of thing.

I can't believe you're serious.

The world needs more serious people. If you can't handle it you can always go be a family man.

Look up "confirmation bias" and then analyze your examples again.

Also, lols through the roof at Capcom getting the idea to add Poison from modders rather than their own pre-existing tendency to put Final Fight characters in Street Fighter games.

"Bu-bu-but the modders showed Capcom there was fan demand for Poison!"

Poison has had a fanbase for years and Capcom couldn't possibly have been unaware of this.

Looks like Sony learned an important lesson from this. I will also be wary to check for Other Ocean where purchasing other games.

Alpha outfit is a very popular costume for Chun Li among fans, hence why a mod was created for it in the first place. Both effects stem from the same customer demand.

Poison was in heavy demand, especially after other Final Fight characters have made the transition to SF over the years, and also because for some reason people think she's a transgender man, and that having a sexed up female character with a hidden penis is somehow progressive for video games. Again, mod was made because Poison is popular.

Juri having a shawl around her arms is inspired by a mod that has a silk belt? Not only are they both too generic to indicate any direct similarities, they're also both not even the same clothing accessory.

These are all screwy, but the idea that Capcom hasn't thought to add Poison into the game until someone made a Poison costume mod for Juri is hilarious.

Hopefully it gets fixed up and sorted in the end. Just a shame it had to happen really. This whole outsourcing on the cheap really needs to end.

Technically, SF4 wasnt in-house either. They contracted Dimps to make the game.

Yes, I think 5 is being made by Dimps as well. Dimps is a great development house, so I'm not worried about the quality of SFV.

People just seem a little bit too optimistic on how Capcom view SF. For the record, Capcom Japan does not see SF as a core franchise and last I heard, there is only a single person at Capcom Japan whose job is to work on SF and that's Ono. SF is an American franchise from their point of view, and any gratitude toward them for giving us SF5 should be directed at Ono, and Sony. If it were up to Capcom, SF would be going the way of Megaman.

You are on something good. Are you telling me all the people I met with at Capcom Japan to meet about Street Fighter... weren't real?

This PS4 version just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Purchased a projector and USF4 TE 2 and was really excited but then started reading threads about us not hearing about the game so it must be shit.

I thought they were crazy but they were right. Hilarious

Hopefully the patches fix everything and not just end up being a

"As good as it will get kinda fix" in terms of all the fixes after all the patches.

Selling my 360 and TE was a mistake

I didn't run into issues until I left it running for a long time and trial mode started freaking out.

Then i tried online today and everything was fucking terrible.

Shunning games that sell well are an important part of Japanese culture, and trust me. I'm an expert.

I am not on anything, just what I've heard. I don't want to question who the people are that you met, but my suspicion is that they were producers and not developers.

UPDATE:

Please note that these statements are from Capcom.

For those experiencing issues and wondering about a patch, we are aware that you are experiencing problems with the PS4 version of USFIV, which was published and developed by SCEA’s Third Party Production group. SCEA and Capcom are currently looking into the issues that some users may be experiencing and are working to resolve them as quickly as possible. We will continue to provide updates on our progress.

A lot of our more competitive players have wondered how the USFIV version of PS4 will affect them and the tour. To that we'd like to advise that the integrity of the Capcom Pro Tour is a top priority for us and we will continue to work with tournament organizers worldwide to ensure that the highest quality event will be run. Each region will maintain its current hardware standard for the remainder of the 2015 Capcom Pro Tour until otherwise announced. We will keep you updated as to when the PS4 version of USFIV will be integrated into the Pro Tour.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Stay tuned for future information

The best version should be the one that is played.
It'll be nice to not see players *cough* Chris G *cough* throwing a tantrum about input lag.

Part of me wonders if USF4 PS4 got rushed so it'd be out before EVO...
