No Man's Sky pre-orders start March 3rd, $59.99

Wow it's more than $10? For an indie? OUTRAGEOUS.

Seriously I wish people would drop this train of thought. The Witness was €37 and better value than most AAAs released in the past year. NMS looks like it has hundreds of hours in it. Nothing wrong with it being full priced. The number of people who made it should not be relevant.

But at the same time, why even have the (Out 3/3) next to NMS, meanwhile, the other games don't? Isn't the whole purpose of the pre order section to list games that will be available for pre order this week? If that's the case, the (Out 3/3) is unnecessary and very poorly worded.

Today is 3/1.

Pre-order today and get it on 3/3?

Yea, I'm evil.

LOL at the people that think this game doesnt deserve to be priced at $60, but somehow a pile of crap like Homefront is worth every penny to them. This is The Witness all over again... Just because a game is made by a smallish indie studio doesn't mean they can't price the game whatever they think is right. Judge the price when you have played the game, not 6 months prior to release...

Pretty much. If it's too much for you just wait for a drop in price. Simple as that.

So we jumped the witness price point straight into $60 territory. I hope we don't see him crying about people pirating him game like blow.

Come on man. This sort of defamation isn't cool. Jonathan Blow made a thing and was upset that people stole the thing.

People wanting to take shots at the man just for fun isn't right.

I'll pay $60 dollars for it no questions asked. If it's anything close to what their vision for the game is, it'll be money well spent.

Putting out next to it implies that you can pre-order it now, and it will come out on the third. Understandable misinterpretation. I'm more than down to pay $60 for this game

Minecraft is worth $60 too then?

Won't buy unless VR support is somehow added. This game begs for it.

59.99 is a fine price tho. Game looks amazing

The witness at $40 was too pricy in my book

But I was fully expecting and willing to spend $60 on no man's sky.....it looks like a fricken AAA title behind an indie studio

The only reason the preorder page is coming in 2 days, is because they were going to announce details of the game in the next 2 days. Release date is a lock to be revealed. Early June is my bet...

Yeap I guess with the preorder they will announce the release date.

Hype growing for 3/3.

PS Blog lists release date as 3/3: Hype level "skyrockets"..

Removed from PS Blog: Hype level "crashes and burns"..
Just to be fair the PS Blog listed the Pre-order date as 3/3.

I imagine the question stemmed from it being made by a 15 person studio.

Are there actually any other $60 games that have been made by a 15 person studio in the past ~5 years?

They did say they would market it as if it was an important exclusive title. That is certainly clue enough.

Back when it launched? No. But if they were to release it these days with the amount of content it has, I'd pay $60 for it.

Sometimes I swear that I must be the only person on GAF who likes to pay less for things and wants to discourage price hikes.

Reminder IIRC psn doesn't refund preorders so act accordingly before dropping $60 and then getting mad a week or two before release and the game is not looking like what you thought it would be and want to cancel.

This stinks of a lot of entitlement. So it's ok for people to pirate the game cause he dared ask for full price for a game? Oh, it's an indie game. It couldn't possibly be worth 60 bux. They deserve to get nothing because omg! The entitlement of wanting 60 bux for a game they spent years making. How dare he be upset cause some people think they're entitled to it for free because they don't like the price point. Here's a hint, if you think it's too expensive, don't buy it or wait until it's a price you think is worth it. And for god's sake quit whining that an indie game dare ask for the same price as an AAA game.

How about we value the worth of the game on how much enjoyment it gives us and how long/replayable it is rather than if it is indie or AAA. It amazes me how much pepole have a hissy fit they might ask 60 bux for this game that they claim 60 or so hours of playability but no one acts as if a AAA game developer is being entitled when they want 60 bux for a linear game that gives you maybe 10-20 hours of fun (with no replayability). I mean I admit for those games i wait for them to be cheaper. But I don't whine and act offended they bothered to ask for more! Or act like they deserve to have it pirated and get no money cause they wanted more. I just wait until they are a price it is worth it to me.

Why is this attitude ok for indie games?

I don't even like most indie games and usually avoid them and I still think this attitude stinks.

The day indie games can be priced like "real" games without the vitriol folks post right now can't come soon enough. If this game had a Nintendo logo (the same company that just charged $60 for Animal Crossing trash) or any other AAA studio logo on the box and it was the same exact game they've showed people wouldn't say anything.

Ah here we go again with the victim blaming. Creators shouldn't complain about piracy because it's justified if a game is full price, right?

Virtually no one thought that Animal Crossing spin-off was worth $60, which is why it's currently selling at a huge discount.

Two things:

1) Prices aren't based on "what you're willing to pay." They're based on "what the market is willing to pay.

2) Don't assume you have to preorder this just because a preorder is available. Wait and see how it turns out before you drop cash.

Sometimes I swear that I must be the only person on GAF who likes to pay less for things and wants to discourage price hikes.

On a "price per dollar of investment" basis, games are cheaper now than they've ever been.

I suppose 3/3 is also the day the embargo will be lifted on news from the Sony event last week. Maybe there will finally be details to appease all the people still asking what there is to do in NMS.

Sometimes I swear that I must be the only person on GAF who likes to pay less for things and wants to discourage price hikes.

People value things differently than you? Is that so hard to understand?
