Paper or plastic?
They should have called it The World's Finest and gave it to Nolan.
Nah, I disagree. I enjoyed TDK trilogy immensely -- I enjoyed it for what it was, but I'm ready for a more fantastical world. I'm not looking for a grounded explanation for every silly comic book quirk. As much as I enjoyed Nolan's movies, it did seem like it was at times apologizing for being a comic book movie.

Because they are way to late to the game and needed to build that whole universe over one movie.
I've heard this before but I dont understand the reasoning. Why does DC need to catch up with Marvel? Separate universes you would think they could be on their own time table.

Because they had one movie in the while Marvel had... 12? Ive lost count. They want the big connected Superhero Universe Money and at some point, the market will be satured. And then they wont get any money.

No it doesn't. Not every movie needs comedy. MoS's problems were not that it didn't have funny quips randomly added, just writing, cuts and some jarring decisions.

A part of MoS's problem was that it felt like it was trying to follow a similar path that the Nolan movies did, which doesn't work for Superman. Funny enough I actually think Batman Begins and The Dark Knight probably have more straight up funny moments in them than Man of Steel had. He's supposed to be an uplifting character that also reflects the best aspects of humanity. You almost need to keep that a bit more on the light hearted and fun side. You can still do "serious" Superman while keeping it tonally a bit more upbeat and fun, I don't mean to masterbate over the Timmverse again but Superman: TAS managed to nail this perfectly.

I'd also say that I wouldn't call Flash a show that has funny quips randomly throughout episodes. The Flash isn't Age of Ultron-tier quippy where literally everyone is throwing quips at times when they shouldn't. Flash basically nails its tone.

Ego, i guess. They are not happy a (former) B list super hero like Ironman can beat their A list heroes in the box offfice.

There's no reason a superhero movie shouldn't have at least a few moments of levity. Even Nolan's TDK trilogy was funnier/more enjoyable than Man of Steel.

My theory would be that they're worried about the super hero market crashing in the next like 5-10 years, with people getting tired of the same sorts of action movies, and they wanted to hop on the train as fast as possible to try and make the most money right now.

But the director, who is also the producer, is the one in charge of driving the entire DCCU. Lol.

Sure, but you can't place all the blame at the feet of the guy who controls both the creative direction and the financial/hiring decisions of the movie. At least some of the blame has to go to the Best Boy and Key Grip, too.

They have "Best" and "Key" right in their titles. Where were they when this all went so horribly wrong, huh? Does this look like the type of movie that the best boy would let happen?

I'm guessing it'll still make money because it's Ben and because it's a superhero movie, but people will be down on it afterwards.

I imagine that suicide squad will be the one that gets the good reviews

Movie is a mess but just go for the fighting scenes, price of the ticket is entirely worth it for those scenes. People were going "whooo" "ouch" "my god dat must hurt" and doing the kind of face you do when something drop a golden punchline. They're very good.

I don't think they're going to give Snyder the boot, but I expect him to have much less power from now on and others to have the ability to actually tell him "No, that's a terrible idea."

I'm 50/50 on watching this movie.

Maybe Batman in this movie is worth seeing even with the messy plot :(

Tbh this is me too.
I kinda want to watch this dumpster truck on fire for myself but don't want to spend money on garbage at the same time (I get the irony).

I always thought BvS looked like a critical flop considering Snyder and the awful trailers.

Ehh, if I get wasted enough this long weekend I may just go watch it on the spur of the moment.

That's the only reason to watch it.

Because there is more money to be made from a shared universe and an ensemble movie and DC wants their piece of the pie. They also don't seem to want to wait that long for it. They announced a dozen movies at the same time for a reason. They are telling audiences their shit will be connected and heroes will share the screen too, and it's pretty evident they wantee to make that point right away with this movie.

They are accelerating its death.

The comic book hero will go the way of the western and it will be because of movies like BvS and MoS.

DEADPOOL just outgrossed Man of Steel's domestic gross. DEADPOOL.

I think WB really just doesn't understand what they're doing anymore. They screw up on things like Green Lantern and Catwoman and Jonah Hex and, in their panic, they see that Batman is their one and only sure-fire bet so they built an entire universe in the tone of Batman... Only DARKER and EDGIER!
