I know a lot of Marvel leaning people are on the "buy Batman" fantasy train, but that seems like a horrible idea to me. Marvel already has the NYC/Hell's Kitchen street level crew. Bringing in the Batverse would either overshadow or absorb that. Where's the incentive to push Iron Fist if you have 15 Bat books to publish?
I don't want Batman in Marvel, I want more Punisher.

I guess the idea was to do a "modern" corporate mogul/genius inventor Luthor.

I don't see why they didn't just straight-up rip the character from Ex Machina, though. He would have been a much better Luthor.

b/c people would have flipped out on Lex not being white if they even bother realize that Oscar isn't white

Actually if netflix counts they at least gave some depth to punisher and kingpin.

Yeah, and while they nailed the villains (I'd put Killgrave there, too, just for being so easy to recognize in real life), I want them to strengthen the characterizations of the leads. Hopefully Luke Cage nails it. I think they were close with Daredevil in the second season until the 5th episode.

But that's a whole 'nother conversation.
I'm surprised people are surprised the movie sucks. All the trailers were screaming at you "yo, this movie is gonna suck!"

Oh yeah. The signs were there from the get-go and I think a few people already figured it out on here.

Well Man of Steel had amazing trailers and that movie sucked

So I guess many people were expecting an inverse Snyder with crappy trailers for an awesome movie.

He really shouldn't be anywhere else but his own show or film. I think of that guy crossing paths with spiderkid or stark or something and it seems absurd.

I think they realize this tho. You won't see kingpin in the spiderman movies I bet

Well i was expecting another bigger scale MOS with Batman, WW and Lex and some JL cameos. Another 2.5hours of anime/superhero fun.

Couldn't believe how Synder and team can fuck this up so badly.

He just crossed paths with daredevil and it was one of the best superhero things ever.

Why are people even entertaining Marvel buying DC like that'd be a good thing? Marvel reboots their comics every few years and smothers them with terrible events every year, it'd be a better situation than what we have now with DC but not by much. And I'm not convinced that Disney would give anyone outside of Batman and Superman movies when they already have Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and their animation team to manage. And hell to the no to combining the universes.

On the plus side: it can only get better from here on! Let's see what Ayer does.

Yeah I don't know what the fuck the reviewers were smoking but this was good. Just finished and it was a great addition to the universe. Definitely had its humour balanced with DC action plus the storytelling was fine for a superhero movie.

Did not feel bloated at all and the teasing of other meta humans was handled well. I think this will do great on word of mouth.

Oh man, i wonder if J.K. Simmons is regretting jumping to the DC universe.

In Snyder's universe, JJJ would be an overly sweaty, abusive, alcoholic womanizer, who puts a gun to Peter's head every time he drops off Spider-man photos and tells him about that one time he forced himself on Aunt May.

Completely different things. Kingpin and punisher would be shit in the crossover to more light hearted territory. Daredevil can afford to transition but I think they'll even keep him at bay for the most part aside from like an action scene in infinity war prolly

To be fair, it was Dennis O'Neil and the surrealism style of Neal Adams.

I didn't mean narrative/aesthetic-wise (I'd argue that very much came from Burton's own unique sensibilities), just in terms of the comics phenomenal success leading to studio confidence and the move getting the greenlight.

Ok, so, to explain myself a little more. I was at the movies when I first saw the BvS trailer. When Batman did the "do you bleed?" line, the theater all had this awkward laugh, like, you know when you laugh because you just don't know how else to feel?

Then I knew that the movie would suck.
