SFV Thailand stage Preview and new Street Fighter Academy Costumes

The reveal of the new character is taking so long... Kolin released late february, right?

Come on Capcom, show it already. :/

The patch is most likely going to include the character and it's coming out on 25th April.

There's an ELeague event for SF5 that'll be broadcast on TBS and it's happening Friday night. My best guess would be that they'll drop a trailer there.

EDIT: Or they might just drop it Thursday, you never know.

I think they'll just cancel Alex's and then quietly delete him from the game. Ibuki is becoming extremely popular so they should really get that shit out there now before her star fades.

I hope you're right. I have 120k FM sitting here, I want to see the new character before I decide between him and Kolin.

Despite not playing her too much (seriously needs buffs/rework) Capcom sure knows how to make me plop down on Juri skins.

1) worst "airport stage" in a fighting game ever.
2) it's the most offensive since it could have been actually great looking but the terrible ligthing and the awful npcs (in the night version) ruin everything.
3) it doesn't even looks like a fighting game stage.

It'sTimeToSpotPosting.gif

Seriously.

I'm starting to think you haven't actually played on this stage, else you'd know that the one I posted is the Day variant of Kanzuki Estate, and the day variant DOESN'T HAVE any NPCs. Which is specifically why I posted it.
I did. In that version I don't like how the lighting feels off, like is artificial, it doesn't have volume. Also for some reason the lamps and other generic electric lights are still on during the day and this really bothers me, probably too much.
I have the same problem with the other stages too, and I can't really get over it.

you must have only started playing fighting games in the past year
I'm a huge smash player since 64.

Yes, the recent CFN 2.0 beta (finally) had breakable crates in Guile's classic Air Force Base stage.

I see they also added new stuff for the Beach stage. The Girls in the backgrouond hold up signs of the winner during a timeout and they've added more details.

Vesper Arcade also rumored that Trials are being adjusted for every character based on their balance changes.

X-Kira found Vol. 2 Trials for the Season 1 characters, if that's what you're referring to.

What takes the complete edition so long?
As mentioned before, you're probably gonna be waiting until 2020 (when Capcom has plans up until for SFV updates) at minimum for a Complete Edition.

Now I kinda wanna see some more school-themed costumes.

Varsity Ken
Professor Zangief
Cheerleader Laura
Graduate F.A.N.G

Oh Man... I REALLY HATE this game.

It represents everything I stand against!
  • Unfinished barebones release.
  • Full price.
  • Locked Fighting game Characters...
  • ...Behind Pay walls....
  • ...Disguised as "Not-paywalls" where only Critics and Pros get to "not pay" for them.
  • Overprised costumes.
  • To much emphasis on Digital rather than retail content (having the original retail disk is pointless at this point).
  • Censorship, Before, During and After it's release.
  • Fans blindly praising it despite the above...
  • And lots of potential to have been something good if not for the above... (otherwise I would had given up on it a long time ago)

This is one of the most regrettable Day 1 purchases I ever did along with Destiny, Sonic 2006 and Vanila Marvel vs Capcom 3.

At the expense of sales I suppose.
As I said earlier, Blanka isn't as popular as you're implying. He is iconic, but there's a difference between iconic & popular. If you said Sagat, maybe you'd have a point since he's both iconic & popular. And even then, most of the lost sales was due to the rocky & barebones launch of the game (the base roster had more than enough World Warriors).

What fighting games give you new DLC characters for free, besides preorder DLC?

I'm not even close to anything vaguely resembling pro and I haven't dedicated myself to the game like I'd like to, but I've still bought Juri, Akuma, and Kolin with in-game currency

Prices are unfortunate for those who want everything. Game launched in a rough state and has never fully recovered, I hope the new network stuff is good?

Whining about a game being "incomplete" regarding characters and levels is pretty useless when it's meant to be supported for years. It was incomplete because it was missing features/functionality

"Censorship" though, now we're getting to the real issues

It's called a "character pass." It's plainly stated in the description that you get six characters and a battle outfit for each.

It's called a Season Pass in many places, including Gamestop, Amazon, GMG, etc.

The rebranding to 'character pass' isn't universal, in fact, even the official Capcom 2016 DLC Road Map refers to it as the "2016 Season Pass":

It's pretty misleading considering the entire concept of a season pass was born out of the idea that it'd encompass everything within a certain timeframe. I'm sure that this vaguery is partially intentional here.

The bottom left Chun in this concept art is the best one. I wish they chose that instead. It doesn't look like Chun at all but I like it.

  • You have a point there
  • You had a point, but its base price is now $40 with sales happening on a semi-regular basis. Though I assume you're speaking from the perspective of a Day 1 buyer (like myself).
  • Yeah, DLC fighters are meant to be locked away.
  • You don't have to pay for them if you don't want to...
  • ...& earning Fight Money isn't nearly as hard as you make it out to be. Hell, you can earn 5k+ FM per week thanks to the Missions.
  • You have a point there, but I suppose that's the price to pay for earnable DLC characters.
  • That's kinda unavoidable in terms of games being updated for the long-term (see Overwatch, Destiny, Killer Instinct, etc.). That said, I wouldn't be surprised if we got disc releases for the Deluxe Edition (for 2017 & beyond) at some point.
  • Considering that SFV tournaments is being aired on channels ESPN & TBS, censorship was kinda necessary to keep said networks happy (there's a reason why EVO 2016 banned Mika's default in Top 8).
  • If anything, the fans have been pretty vocal about the shortcomings of the game, namely because we want the game to get better.

Did you mean to write Street Fighter IV instead? I think that game was near unbearable visually, and SFV looks great both in comparison and just on its own.
This. Ken aside (though he does look okay in-game), the game actually looks pretty good. Though I will admit that some characters look better than others.

I got the inside scoop on the characters getting the next costumes.

Karen, Cammy, Mika, and Laura . Oh...did I miss someone else with tits? Shit. Add Kolin and Ibuki.

Keep holding those Ls, Dhalsim. You long armed cuck fuck.

If only good costumes translated into good characters.

The pick % of all 3 characters is some of the lowest in the game because they are now/was always ass.

But...the game is actually fun and, in my experience, the most accessible Street Fighter games since SF2. Fans blindly praise the game because they enjoy playing it. I've not spent a dime on the game since the initial purchase, I feel ok about it. I don't play as much as I used to, but that's just me and fighting games. When friends come over for parties and we fire up SFV to play, no one is griping about paywalls and costume prices. They are playing it and enjoying themselves.

They could have tried to make Ryu and Chun look younger. not just for this costume but in the game general. They look like middle aged cosplayers(buff as fuck but still)

Looking forward to see the new stage. The wait for a new character has been so long. Please Capcom, show it very soon!

It's also sad to see a few characters receiving a ton of costumes but others don't. I understand they try to bet on the most popular characters to earn money because it may not be profitable to make costumes for the non-so popular characters, but it's dissapointing when your favorite characters don't receive costumes.

Capcom should have chosen a better name for the pass to begin with, but please let this be a reminder to actually read the description of whatever you are purchasing. The product description for the season/character pass specifies exactly what you are getting for your money.

Yup, the SF4 / SFxT costume packs were better in that aspect :/

Agreed, Urien feels neglected in terms of costumes.

I'm a huge smash player since 64.

Well if you've been paying attention to other fighting games that have released at all since that time, then you'd know that plenty of games have stages set in jungles, mountains, etc. So your argument there doesn't hold any weight at all, if you could even call it an argument.
