Whether SeX is more or less than PS5 won't matter much. Pretty sure both systems will have great games. With the way RT is being tossed around as the next step in gaming godliness, it's going to mean one game gets shittier RT than the other. Or both have equal RT, but one system runs a game 5 fps less.

But look on the bright side for the Xbox gamers. Did you take advantage of the insane $1 Game Pass Ultimate top up deal? I did. $1 gets me to 2022.

So when SeX is launched, I'll get another 2 years of first party freebies at next gen specs.

It is simple lockheart is to get casuals locked in at a old school price of 299.99 or so. They have no control over how powerful the PS5 is so if they are edged out it happens. These were planned years ago. If it is priced right with solid software it will be ok. Not like they could of said we will make a 20tf console and sell it for 400 dollars loss per unit. They made a 400mm die with a nvme SSD drive they reasonably did all they could to take the power crown and keep the price reasonable.

Yeah looking like ps5 might have edge with the insiders Saying. Kamiya changed everything. 13.5 and probably double speed ssd. They are willing to lose 100 OB says, ms wont dont do that imo. Im gonna get hell

But the EDRAM (or ESRAM) would end up negating the price savings while not completely mitigating the latency issues. Remember how much the ESRAM ate into the XBO's silicon budget? And Sony would need at least that much for resolving latency problems with that proposed setup.

Doesn't matter what your transistors are. 150mm2 is cheap. 32mb of Esram on 7nm would take less than 1/4 of die space it did on 28nm.

Fair enough.

For what it's worth, I think the Yamika post was a bit vague, so I'm not convinced. I hope both consoles end up super close either way the specs pan out. I'd love a gen as competitive as 360/PS3.

This. It seemed hard to believe Sony was being outplayed by MS during the Github 9.2tf phase. Equally, it seems hard to believe MS are being outplayed by Sony on both GPU and SSD. Particularly when you consider their messaging to date.

Even at 1.8ghz the perf should be much better than Lockharts. Unlike people on the internet, Sony takes the threat of being undercut by possibly $200 is a serious threat. They're big enough to respond to all threats.

What the leaks don't have are the numbers for the 2020 PS5 that was planned at the beginning of 2018. It's a riskier move since the targets for the 2020 PS5 is much much higher than the 2019 PS5. There is a chance it might make Fall 2020. That's why Sony has being fairly quiet.

If 2020 PS5 makes 2020, the perf would be

Sony keeping quiet? They've really touted their SSD and haptic feedback features upon announcing the system. The SSD on multiple occasions. Those are sure things to look forward to, guarantees for those who are really into those 2 features. Seemed to be some of the more prominent features on the PS5, at least from Sonys messaging and cadence.

One thing I really want to see fixed next gen is if you buy the game discs, that both companies actually put the whole game data on the discs. Just got COD Modern Warefare to find only 7.5gb of the game data is on the actual disc and im required to down load over 100gb to get the install. Now on my shitty internet its been three days and it still hasnt completed yet. Buying a game and it taking days to install when you buy the fn discs is just bullshit.

Components like ESRAM aren't made on the same node sizes as certain other components IIRC; we are already dealing with APUs that will have to most likely cut down total of L3$ from Zen 2 to save die space and power draw, you really think anyone would add 32MB of ESRAM as replacement of that (increasing the die space beyond simply leaving the full L3$ intact)?

Not happening.

All CPUs and GPUs have sram in terms of l1, l2, and l3 caches.

Esram is just a big chunk of sram.
