Only if it is silent as the one x. Small and a 747 is unacceptable. If Sony wants to eat the costs of cooling a smaller box that is silent I'm down with it. I just have my doubts with the pros and launch PS4s Sony cares about a silent cooling solution.

Something doesnt make sense . If its at ps meeting means game will launch with console.why would ps5 launch october and not november as this suggests ?

Think camefromnearfuture said the 20th of Feb the same date as the PS4 reveal happened.

Know Tommy didn't agree but cannot remember what day he said. Seems moot as he dropped some knowledge got called out by on of mrxmedias goons on twitter and we've not seen him since.

That is a good question, and I dont fully know. This is my vague extrapolation based on quotes and hints from Mark Cerny, Various developers, leakers, and neogaf members discussions and analysis and trying to put it all together. Such improvements on inefficiencies for both consoles are (besides SSD):

-Microarchitecture changes of CPU and GPU and the way its put together along with the rest of its components ( Zen & RDNA versus Jaguar and Polaris)
-Upgrades to HUMA (Heterogeneous Uniform Memory Access)
-Draw call improvments
-API upgrades
-I/O

It just seems that Sony is more focused on this rather than microsoft, this *may infer* the less need for compute units and TFLOPS (9.2 TFLOP leak) which results in next gen 4k @30-60fps graphics, and perhaps a more affordable console.

Maybe it's October on current gen. But at the same time was chosen to demo next gen evolution on PS5, in third-party line up.
Or maybe they full of shit, who knows 😅

I don't know; feels more like a case of Sony is simply more willing to talk about these kind of things while MS is just wanting to talk about other types of performance metrics more. Since a good amount of these changes are going to come from AMD's end (most of what Sony and MS implement will be customized takes on those type of things) as well as from various memory controller developers like Phison, not to mention standardization of feature sets from groups like JEDEC and PCI-SIG, it stands to reason PS5 and XSX will be more or less identical in these gains.

It's not like one side is only focusing on brute-force power and the other is only focusing on fine-tuned optimizations, that would be a bad thing for either. They're taking a balanced approach even if there ends up being a noticeable gap in certain areas that are easy (by comparison) to point to and talk about like clock speeds, memory bandwidth, or TFLOPs. MS and Sony are simply choosing to direct their messaging a bit differently, that's about it.

I feel your pain, but if it is as powerful as Xbox Series X (which many insiders suggest it to be), then expect it to be a tower, because they can't fit all that power and maybe high clock speeds in a console form that we are used to, Microsoft changed the game with their new design, Sony will too.

Though I'd like to be wrong.

I think that PS5 and Xsex are so close and virtually the same based on leaks, vague specs released from MS and Sony, that its really hard differentiating the 2, so this TFLOP thing seems to be the only deciding factor differentiating the 2 in terms of specs and performance. Based on my previous posts, I was just trying to say that TFLOPS *may not* be the component that tips the scale this time and *may not* be as relevant in the same way nobody gives a shit about polys/sec, and bits.

I hope you're wrong too. I love the design of the XsX and want it to be unique, I'd hate it if Sony copies it.

If they do copy Xbox, I hope it looks like the one Evilms Evilms since it doesn't look sleek and zen, it looks like crap. I much prefer the one posted in here earlier today. It looks sleek and minimalist without looking anything like the XsX.

I think just as ms made people believe that a vapor chamber is some sort of exotic cooling solution, they're making people think a tower design is the only way to properly cool these new consoles. I think it'll be somewhat amusing when the 1st xsx teardown happens and the tower design is just to easily fit a 140mm fan. It's just a smart, simple solution. Probably why sony won't do it.

It’s a brute force mentality. It might not be the most elegant solution but it works. I’m really hoping Sony does choose a more thoughtful solution. The level of customizations mentioned from them seem to point to this. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony’s next system is significantly smaller yet will be able to match MS’s power.

That V-shaped dev kit is already very good in cooling (from appearance) for a system pushing 12+ TFs. Just remove some of the ports and the LED screen, shrink it some, change the coloring perhaps and that's basically a PS5.

I don't see Sony going for a tower-esque design, they don't want to even go NEAR bringing back memories of the Viao computer line ever again xD.

Why moot?? Tommy was the same person mod of War had contact with, mentioned he saw some info but Tommy didn't want to give up his source. Tommy didn't get banned bcus mod of War didn't feel like he was bullshitting, he just didn't verify him.

Ima laugh when most of what Tommy is saying comes true. It's actually hand in hand with past leaks or supposed info.
