Next-Gen PS5 & XSX |OT| Console tEch threaD

We dont know how much is background loading and how much is connecting to servers per game.
That is the exact reason I’m bringing this topic up. Can the SSD improve server load times? How much of it is connection or background loading?
Does anybody have any ideas on the ratio for let’s say Destiny 2 or The Elder Scrolls Online?

SSD is gonna be super important i think, even more than any other next gen feature imo. For ex for fighting games i feel it will help the genre by quite a bit.

Also it will be very great for other games/genre, like, i won't have to drink a cup of tea anymore every time i do quick travel in some games, like AC Odyssey.
In Single Player games like AC or Fallout 4 Fast Travel should be with in a second. I would believe.
I’m talking online connection based games like Destiny 2 or The Elder Scrolls Online.

Since everyone is a inside source or knows a friend that phones a friend. I had a dream of the ps5 specs. Take it with a grin of salt. Or sea salt if thats your fancy.

12.5-12.9tfs
3.2ghz
22gb of hbm2

As said my inside source dream could be wrong. But if i see this on any youtube channel ima need credit 🤣🤣

Let my dream live!! #Jan19 #Youheardthedreamfirst. #Psychic :messenger_beaming:

For it to fall “exactly” on 12, it would mean that their clocks for the GPU would have been purposefully set to a figure JUST for the sole purpose of the number “12” being perfect, no decimal. This serves no purpose other than looking like a nice round figure on paper, but chances are in doing this they have lost some actual gains.

In short, I very much doubt the figure “12” is accurate other than for marketing. They can’t come out and say “12.143tf!” When “12tf” is more impactful.

Another important note... I’m pretty confident I haven’t seen a single piece of MS advertising that has said “12.0tf”. Everything has been “12tf”.

IMO, of course.
Is there a possibility that the number is slightly lower than 12(11.6 like OsirisBlack OsirisBlack said), but for marketing they are going with 12?

"My first fleet" probably means launch games. Though that's be weird, surely you'd save that for a big event, not a surprise drop.
"fleet" is related to a new Twitter functionality. Tweets that are deleted after a while, kinda like instagram' stories.

That explains why he deleted the tweet.

Absolutely, yes. Either case is a possibility. Personally, gut feeling suggests it’s something more like 12.05 than 11.95, however, when you’re dealing with numbers like that... it makes bugger a difference to performance really.

***However there IS a limit on this. While they could get away with something like 11.9X, I doubt they could get away with more. It would essentially be another fanboy arrow in their quiver. “You’re not even 12tf anyway, you’re only 11.6!!!”

The gif or where it's from is irrelevant, @BGs said it was something to extrapolate.... Keeping in mind a few caveats from BG's

- He said when he presented himself that his avatar picture is generated from certain calculations (can't find his post since his profile is now private)
- Speaking the same native language as him I gather that he is indeed conveying that the information IS in the .gif file (that's where I'd look).
- Somewhere in time when we were discussing RDNA vs GCN flops (and their equivalent 'performance') he kept joking at 13.8 TF (I think he was hinting at GCN perfomance (maybe some dev kit in the past based in Vega VII?) ) and when people said it was about a 20% gain he reacted with a wink face maybe hinting at 13.8 GCN--> 11.2 RDNA (he reacted to someone who said this conversion, I'm not saying that the conversion is accurate).

Now, my guess is based in those two assumptions:
- Others are right. The .GIF file when you open it in a video editor you can see the length is 22,46. Seems intentional and is the reverse process from creating a GIF from a Video.
-Ilith (being the PS5 in this metaphor) touches the ground at second 11,86 TFlops <--- This is one possibility
-The length being 22,46 is weird too, maybe a reference to 2 instructions per cycle? Then it would be 22,46 / 2 = 11,23 TFlops<----- Other possibility.

Anywho, I had fun and that's all that matters.

Cheers!
At what point in timw is the face shown in the gif ?

that’s just mean the targeting number they trying to reach ...even if the console can only reach 11.8TF they still gonna consider it 12TF is called marketing most casual gamers won’t know this but PC gamers do I’m liking Microsoft approach to this new generation going all in....

or could be lower like 11.6...11.8...? For both I mean.

It would be funny to see a new console wars meme..."the only true 12TF console" lol

Any vetted been saying anything specific on the current specs? Don't care what anyone else says except the vetted. Anyone else who claims to have inside information I ain't believing. And I ain't going through 1239 pages to see what is going on.

tl;dr tell me what vetted said otherwise

Ok, gonna post this now for coverage.

I posted the TF count previously that I was told about, and that still stands for myself. For the record the number I was given was an 11.6 (previously lower slightly, was worked around and now seems to be there).

But tomorrow is the 5th, and that’s when I was told things were happening, as I mentioned over the last few days. Now I’ll be up front and honest here, I don’t actually know “what” that means. It looks very likely that it may be confirmation of something at the AMD event and he was possibly alluding to that, be it something spec related, a nugget of info, or RDNA talk.

It could also be a possible avenue for Sony themselves to share more details. All I *believe* is something will be said, which is I know isn’t a lot to go on... meh...

Anyway, as one of us, I hope we all get something tomorrow, even if it’s a small nugget of info. Anything is better than nothing. 👍🏻
Do AMD stream their financial day presentation?

Klee said 12.083. That's why I said 12.0x. Same as One X which is advertised as 6 teraflops console.

Maybe it doesn't come to mind anymore, many pages have gone by, but I think it's being a bit unfair, especially with some Insiders.

In addition, I have received some PM in the last hours and, based on all this, I would like to make some things clear.

The job of an Insider is not to give information. It is true that there are several types of information:

- The one that comes directly to you.
- The one that comes to you indirectly.

If the information reaches me directly and I publish it, I am risking my position. That is why, for example, I did not come here to give information, I already made it clear in my first message. I am not paid to give information. And it is the information I can give at that time, neither more nor less. And I give it for courtesy, not for obligation. Who says "here," I say "anywhere."

Similarly, many Insiders have information that does not compromise them but does compromise their sources. And that must be respected.

I do not know everyone, nor their intentions, but I find it hard to believe that some risk their positions for some photos. I think something else must be behind that explains the situation. Likewise I have not been able to follow the case in real time and I don't know exactly what happened (if someone can summarize it to me) but I am sure it will be solved in the best way.

You should also understand that, although silence is frustrating and information is scarce, it is not as easy as not saying a name. If an information comes out, it ends up knowing where it came from.

I have signed confidentiality papers. And therefore, the confidants of Osiris (for example) also (surely).

With all this we go to mistakes. As I can't come here to say anything exact, I can't go wrong either. My only mistake would be to tell the exact truth. And it would be a mistake because that would involve getting into legal trouble. I don't care at all if someone here believes me or not. I worry about choosing the right words to say the maximum allowed without any legal repercussion. And as I have said once in public and in private, the only time I said clearly that one was better than the other at a certain moment, it almost cost me my job. And that won't happen again. Similarly, if Osiris compromises your information, it will be compromising its sources. Seriously.

It's bullshit? Yes. It's crap. But that's what there is. It is either this or absolute silence.

I am sure that if there are no more "public" Insiders it is not because they do not want to but because they cannot.

Therefore, the only thing that can be done is to give you the information in a way that is not direct and in which you should know how to interpret. Some will interpret it well, and others will misinterpret it. I understand that those who misinterpret it will feel frustrated and deceived. But that's what there is. You can only give one guide. I cannot allow a story to appear on the Internet that says "I have said that ...". So I give you examples (or similes) for you to interpret.

If an Insider goes out to say exact things, it is because he can do it and because he is allowed to. If you ever see real publications ahead of time, I am sure they will not come from any Insider, unless you want to compromise someone.

The rest is called leaks, and they are anonymous. And the risk they have is that being anonymous can be true or false. And that's where the logic of each individual comes into play.

Logically many clauses are falling as information appears, and therefore, in those cases I can be a little more direct and affirm or deny things, since in that case I am not the origin of the information and I literally cover my back. The same must happen with other informants. And in other cases the information is denied by its own weight and logic and I only confirm the obvious (as has already happened). Similarly, what I can't say today, maybe tomorrow I can. But in any case, it will always be subject to your interpretation.

Yesterday I commented with some users by private. I can give you a Gif about my vision and you are the ones who have to interpret it.

giphy.gif

The fact that after this, some draw wrong conclusions is everyone's problem.

In the same way. Saying one thing does not mean denying another. That is, saying that PS5 is great does not mean that the XSX is automatically crap. And the same in reverse.

I know what everyone wants to know. But you have to understand that I am not willing to lose my job because of it. Similarly, people who give information to OsirisBlack OsirisBlack trust him. And so it should be.

I hope you can understand what I am trying to convey. Do not be so demanding with those who bring you information. since for better or worse, try to make your wait more enjoyable or pleasant. Everywhere there are malicious people, but I think they are well known.

Cheers

If this message does not have the desired effect I think it will be my last "long" message.

I appreciate your honesty. Having worked myself in a high-secirity area I fully understand that you want to stick to agreements and contracts.

Not only that, but you would be spoiling it for people at Sony and game studios who work hard to get the message out when the time is right.

People need to calm the fuck down. If you're used to get anything you want from your parents partners, this is the wrong place to demand similar.

Apart of that I find it more interesting solving the puzzle myself/together with others. When all the details are out finally, it's time for everybody to reflect on how you process information especially related to stuff that is wishful thinking or where you simply got it wrong based on the lack of technical knowledge.

That said, I hope ignorant people attacking others or insisting that something that literally doesn't make sense to be true, should get a temporary ban or even a permanent one if they keep herassing or stalking others.

Respect peoples privacy!

How does everybody feel about SSD load times. Will they make a huge impact on games like The Elder Scrolls Online or day Destiny 2? These game’s being online. How much difference in load times do you believe there could be with Online Games?

WHOA, WTF?!? After like 500 of nothing but wet dreams of 32GB HBM, 20-30TF GPU and 32-core CPU, and then about 700 pages of nothing but the so-called insiders drama someone wants to have an actual speculation/analysis discussion, just as the thread title suggests, about something that's actually been revealed/confirmed and is widely talked about by the devs? The hell if wrong with you??

But honestly, that's the point - all the kids/fanboys masturbate to the TF numbers, while the people who actually have their hands on the actual dev-kits, and are making all those games for us, keep talking over and over again how the SSDs will be the game changer, how the games design will be changed, and how the games will be build around them. Just like 8GB RAM of the current-gen consoles was on tongues of all the developers previously, and the impact in undeniable - many, if not most games switched to open-world concept, or at very least greatly increased their levels size, and I'd even say that battle royale games with their huge levels were also possible mostly thanks to the amount of memory the consoles have now. Everything just got bigger, a lot bigger.

So with all the developers being extremely excited about the SSDs, we can only imagine what they will be able to achieve. Faster loading times, sure, that's a given, but that's not why they are so excited. We already know that those SSDs will be even more advanced than what is currently available for PC, with even greater bandwidth, and that it will be possible to use those drives basically as RAM, to stream the data directly to the CPU/GPU, so with tens-hundreds GB of "RAM", the possibilities can be limitless. Of course we won't get to know until we will get a glimpse of next-gen, some of the early titles and tech-demos.

But speaking of the drives specifically, I think XBX will have "just" and ordinary PCIE4 NVMe SSD, either MLC or TLC, that with its raw bandwidth will be a huge step forward compared to current consoles and PC anyway, while the PS5 might be using something way more sophisticated, and I'm not thinking about that rumored Samsung's solution (which as I'm writhing this I think they might be the supplier for XBX), but the latest/upcoming X100 from Micron - it's an SSD based on 3D Xpoint technology, just as Intel Optane,, but the specs are second-to-none - up to 10GB/s bandwidth, less than 10um access time, and 2.5MLN iOPS - from all the rumors and leaks I've read all of them make me believe this is indeed it (especially iOPS). And as expected, such solution can't be cheap, which again, goes so well in line with that rumored BOM pointing out expensive SSD, and some of the latest rumors suggesting just 512GB capacity.

Well if the guy or gal is talented and being hired by a Microsoft studio, why would they not think it was a good thing? I mean, God of War was bad ass and the combat was excellent.

Uh, I am talking about Studstill with the STADIA studio for GOOGLE.

That's my point. But for the other one, I thought GoW sucked and the combat was no good, boring ass movie game? :pie_invert:

Devs where told to target 10TF for retail last year. Rumor is then they was told target was 11TF Retail. I can’t confirm the 11TF Retail increase because I haven’t seen the documents on it.

In the last week and a Half to 2 weeks Devs have received new Dev Kits/Debug Kits a new revision for PSVR2. The new dev Kit/ debug Kits code names Caesar. For devs with VR games.

Rumor is in the last 3 Months Devs where sent new Debug Kits For PS5 a new revision to all devs.Debut Kits are the PSV dev console.

Also a new DS5 was supposed to be sent to devs. I haven’t Seen them or a pic of them. I don’t know if they have a camera or not in the new DS5 Dev Controllers.

Is Caesar the new PS5 devkit name or is that strictly PSVR2?

Also are you suggesting the new kits are 11TF or that it was 11TF and no idea what the new ones are?

God of War was made by a multitude of ppl like any other game. It takes more than one person. Ppl come and go in this industry and end up in a diiferent studio, it's good to be happy but nothing tht serious like "omg" 😱

Either way good luck and hope they fulfill all their endeavors.

If wrong, feel free for a little light toasting tomorrow/Friday. Burning may be a bit extreme mind you 🤣

But I’ll take my licks, I’m a big boy.
Thanks for the information, if you're right or wrong, it doesn't matter as long as you were honest saying what have you heard.

100% agree. It's strange to see such tweets and then this apeshit in the community. The competition is good for all 3, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. Without Nintendo Sony had never released the playstation, MS wouldn't be so strong if they wouldn't have such a strong competitor like sony and nintendo wouldn't have such a nice console like the Switch if both sony and MS wouldn't show the power middle finger.

I really hope Nintendo will find a good solution for it's own next gen!

I was just going off what you posted which was related to xbox.

Are you insinuating that I said GoW sucked? It was my game of the generation.

Very helpful article.

It was a pretty obvious joke but many didn't seem to get it.

The head of Sony Santa Monica!?

If you've watched the "raising kratos" or whatever it was called GoW documentary, when a question of how the development cycle affected you and your family, she denied to answer. You could see the it affected her in a pretty bad way. I rewatched that bit a couple times cause it was just so odd.
