Designing a new CPU or GPU costs billions. Without the console manufacturers, AMD would be long dead. Before this gen they were the underdog, nobody wanted their hardware. I remember when Athlon CPUs had problems with running multithread apps and Radeons overheated with still lower performance than GeForce cards. Everyone was talking about the terrible future of dual Intel/Nvidia monopoly. They will do what they can to keep those deals. And I bet both machines will have some level of unique features ordered by MS and Sony.

Right. I probably grew up at the same time like you (but I'm probably a few years younger : P). It was so extreme that until a few years ago I preferred Intel + nVidia and I am still not very familiar with AMD hardware.
The break came about 10 years ago. I have to say that I worked for DELL for a long time and we had big problems with nVidia GPUs in 2007/2008 ("nVidia issue"). Almost all Dell notebooks with nVidia graphics died at some point. We had to replace the motherboards years after the warranty ended. Interestingly, hardly anyone remembers this and somehow the trust in nVidia did not seem to have really decreased. I guess this bug also affected the PS3 (YLOD).

Xbox and Pa4 are the console. They sold 50m and 100m, and in this case, Sony made AMD more money. That’s easy.

But AMD don’t look at Xbox, they look at the client they deal with, in this case, Sony and Microsoft. And Microsoft have more dealings with AMD when you factor in all their areas, than Sony do.

It’s about the bigger picture. There is more to this than consoles alone.

But even THEN, when you factor in that, AMD wouldn’t be stupid and ignore the other client or give them a shit deal simply because they sell less overall.

That’s a terrible way to run a business.

I think many here are confused about what AMD does, and doesn't, do. They got out of the foundry business years ago. They provide a design service to MS and Sony. They design their APUs. It doesn't matter how many units MS and Sony end up fabricating and selling to AMD's bottom line. They make the money by providing technology and design. Sony and MS then go and pay someone else to fabricate the chips.

Not sure who this person is, nor do I have much idea of their credibility. Apologies if this is wrong to post, but I found it interesting all the same. Anybody can claim to have a "buddy at Sony".

Lends a bit more credence to the theory that Sony *was* ready, but things got thrown in arrears due to Covid-19 ravaging China and Japan(though not as severely, of course) as well as now numerous countries in the world.

The funny shit is in the past Sony has never really given anyone much reason hardware wise to doubt them when thy talk about hardware as opposed to well you know others. Ppl doubted ps moves were 1:1 thy nailed it, ppl doubted psvr could be done on consoles they nailed it (considering hardware weakness) and all along the way, ppl always talked shit and doubted it all.

So the facts are no one on this thread knows what the PS5tf are and whether it has RDNA2 it's all rumours,spec ,and BS. The most reliable source so far has been the github 9.2tf which i hope is wrong. Gaming is big business and Sony will wan't to make as much money as possible and a 9.2tf console that's much cheaper than the XSX is going to get them alot more sales and money than a 13tf expensive console that may sell at a loss.

Sony ends up delivering two consoles, then it is undeniable they were caught off guard by Microsoft specs. Sony 9 teraflop machine was likely the revise to the pro. I seriously doubt Sony would give up 33 per cent power to Microsoft at a new launch. The second console may explain the delay? Sony have to order new parts and design something new for a more powerful machine.

We are in speculation mode why Sony silent.

I'm going to be honest. The only people who I see perpetuating the rumor that ps5 has no RT are Sony fans using it as a slight against Xbox fans. Now I'm sure there has been a troll Xbox fan that has stated this, but all I come across are the usually pro PlayStation people repeating this. I think anyone who actually keeps up with the conversation doesn't believe this.

When it comes to the 9.2 number, while I personally believe that it will be higher- I can understand why people grasp onto it. If you are skeptical by nature, then you are going to stick to what seems to be a legitimate hardware test over forum insiders. I remember all the crazy speculation and nonsense said back in the day on ps3era and ps3forums.com before that console generation. Same can be said for before this current gen.
