I really don't understand this logic. How does another company having one strategy mean another company must fit in the middle of their strategy?
My point is Microsoft has their own strategy but Sony does not have to then conveniently fit in the middle just because.
Put another way, Apple has Highend, Mid and Low end. Samsung has a phone for just about every price range you can imagine. Neither company's strategy depends on the other fitting in the middle, they just want to appeal to the widest range of consumers as they can.

Less than 40 days apart. That's a first for sony. Usually when they release multiple exclusives within a year, they're about 3 months apart from each other, but in this instance, it's less than 40 days. That's quite unusual. But it's awesome to have 2 heavy hitters within the span two months (May-June), should keep gamers occupied until the Next gen drops!!!

They aren't interested in console sales, only Sony are.
Otherwise Microsoft would push for Full exclusives for the XSX only not holding off 12 to 18 months, so to cross platform games, thus extending the life cycle of the current consoles

I'm not talking about resolution, where Series X will likely have an advantage, I mean next-gen PS5 games will be able to target the hardware, will end up having more detail, larger worlds and greater scope.
Xbox Series X will not only be held back by Lockhart's 4 TF GPU but also the smaller RAM pool.
At the end of the day: Series X - higher pixel resolution - PS5 - more impressive graphics, more complex worlds.

From what I've seen, Dreams and The last of us Part 2 are a bit more than 3 months apart with one released in February and the other releasing in May. Perhaps sony is pushing down that path cause they're planning to talk more about the PS5 after Ghost releases? But that's just a wild guess.

Who said they aren't phasing out XBO and X? They just price-dropped the X to $299 recently, sounds like a phasing out to me.
We still don't know how exactly they're going to do cross-gen or even cross-platform support; we only know they are in fact going to do both. And we'll be seeing some cross-gen support from Sony as well or are people thinking there won't be PS5 versions of TLOU2, Dreams, Ghosts etc? Those are practically guaranteed.

The assumption is based on more than pure dollars...there is value in future sales in multiple product lines, there is value in being in multiple product lines instead of only earning income from one line of business as this better protects from a downturn....for instance if the next generation after the coming one is lightweight home streaming boxes then the VGC business falls off...so who offers more future value to AMD?. Value isn't just about current widget sales. Anyway...everyone has thier opinion on value and it's really not on topic.
