But why should Sony be making platform money in that situation if the hardware isn’t vital? It costs us gamers more for our hobby with console platform holder margins, so they need to justify that added cost. Why shouldn’t publisher like Ubisoft, EA, Bethesda become virtual platforms on PC, too? Sony currently enjoy the financial spoils of a platform because they incur large risk, curate and cultivate, and nurture game development exclusive to their platform that makes gaming better. If they aren’t doing those things, they aren’t worthy of their cut IMHO.

When exclusives stop to exists then consoles will too.
It if fine to like to play on PC... for me it is a mess... something that I don't want for a hobby and I don't want to deal with that too.
Consoles is what fits me.
I know the consoles are ending... so it is not surprise Sony tried to find others alternatives... I support them to that.
But they will lose me (and others) in the process.
Some will migrate to Xbox/PC... some won't... I probably will stop to play games.
Crossplay is just personal view of the issue... devs force you to play against everybody if they have as default an option to play only against PlayStation users it will be fine but most are already removing that.
I don't like to mess playing with different platforms that have different hardware/options and in most cases are cheaters (PC).

What sales are you talking about, hardware, specific software, etc.? They have a smaller base, so obviously exclusives aren't going to move as many copies. At the end of the day, I'd say GamePass had a much bigger impact on sales than Play Anywhere. GamePass (specifically GP Ultimate) is going to kill GOLD revenue for a bit also, that up to three year conversion last e3 caused many to extend memberships early, that will erase a lot of renewals that should be happening now. Numbers can get a little muddy sometimes.

I have no problems with HZD being on PC since it is single player only. If they start releasing games which require PS+ to play on console with no such fee on PC then I will have a problem.

There are a lot of AAA multi platform games that have free multiplayer on PC and cost money on Playstation and Xbox for playing online.
All Xbox games have free multiplayer on PC.

At this point in time, it would be more of a surprise to me if PS5 was 9.2 teraflops than it being 12+. I really liked the idea of HBM, but in the comment BGs liked you say HBM was never in PS5. That's a tad disappointing.

In other news, it seems like the coronavirus is getting really bad. It sucks E3 was cancelled, but it was definitely for the best. Here's to hoping that the situation doesn't get much worse. And of course, that we get our consoles this year
Been mentioned before (almost feels like a broken record at this point), but the Navi 10 listing refers to Ariel's iGPU profile on the regression tests, since that was the pre-Oberon chip. It's never actually been absolutely indicative to signaling Oberon.
Even if it was, well that's partly what revisions are for and going by the lettering Oberon's gone through at least four revisions following the first chip. Revisions are more significant than steppings in terms of what's actually changed with the chip though it remains to be seen just how drastically different changes between revisions can actually be.
But yes, that information in the Github and the testing data that's been found since, it's never been 100% indicative of PS5 performance, most likely. I would assume most people understood this by now however.
I guess they could've done this but it doesn't make sense. More likely there are Oberon C0 and D0 chips, they might've just been very small revisions or didn't actually change anything on the chip, and/or no data has been found on them yet.
Or maybe the significance in letter jumping from revision to revision is meant to symbolize the significance of the newest revision itself? Just something of a thought to chew on.
Could definitely be the case, but personally still think there were a couple other Oberon revisions. Regardless there's a high chance that if anything the AMD conference news just soft-confirms at least some revision of Oberon as an RDNA2 chip.
However, IIRC has AMD said that they're doing RDNA2 on both 7nm and 7nm EUV? If so isn't there still a chance PS5 and even XSX are on 7nm RDNA2, rather than 7nm EUV RDNA2? I mean their own words in post interviews made it seem like they're trying to transition quickly to 5nm but they'll still have a few 7nm EUV RDNA2 chips coming as interim.
In some ways I feel like the whole RDNA/RDNA2 stuff is even more messy after they did the conference

Dev Kits develop overtime so you might have an early one with a Zen+ CPU (ps4 was on early 4 core steamroller at a higher clock rate than 1.6GHz) and a Vega GPU with 8 GDDR6 shared memory, this is as an example and based on the how the devkit of the PS4 developed. Testing is normal and could be done for a ton of reasons assuming it was for the actual devkit, it might be simply a benchmark for the then relevant kit (might end up retail) or a test for Backward compatibility.
The whole process is part of the console R&D and the leaks we get are snapshots of the development timeline for the expected target specs.
Anything else is just bickering and fanboyism.

Today If I want to play Sony Exclusives I need to own their console and if I want to play those exclusives on-line I need to pay a subscription.
The only reason I have a console is to play games I can't get on PC. Sony can make any moves it likes but as soon as they cross that line I just won't have a reason to own their console any longer.

If consoles are gonna disappear it will be with or without exclusives. Concoles do not survive due to them, survive because they are the best deal amongs the masses, proof is that you WONT move to PCs even if a consoles has no exclusives. Plenty will stay on PS. We're getting way too much involved wih this games on PCs thing.
But again, we need to understand what Sony wants to do. Someone could argue that due to Ps Now exclusives are gonna be like Gears on Gamepass, but surprise: it's not happening. Different companies handles things differently from the same bases.

I thought it was ReRAM. Anyway, I'm happy with the specs.
Curiously though,
- There's a 2014 rumor about Sony preparing ReRAM for PS5.
- A Sony engineer saying we will see ReRAM in 2020.
- A professional analysis saying ReRAM will be the same price as SLC Nand in 2020.
- A Remedy developer saying games will load as long as the current gen if their game becomes too big without proper memory management or something to that effect. (4GB/s to a 16 RAm will never, in any scenario, result to a situation like that.)
- Sony ReRAM is at 64gb and 128gb manufactured in 20nm which is a 2013 process node. 20nm is dirt cheap nowadays.
- How will they implement virtual RAM if the machine doesn't have an SSD that can withstand constant writing?

Imho, the games quality and GamePass, last Gears was there at 1 dollar. Yeah, guess what is gonna happen. But of course stuff like Recore and Crackdown 3 would not sell as, let's say, Gears 2 on 360 anyway (to make a comparison with precedents). MS just shifted focus: Gears and Halo are always presents, but they are not the same as before, they are not that giant event that was in the past, they are just games.
MS is shooting at the wall right now because it is in great disavvantage despite all this "SoNy ScAREd" absurdity, the time Sony get a true next gen exclusive out it's the end.

I never said hardware is not important, if there was no PS Sony wouldn't get a cut for every game sold on it, and that along with subscription services are the bulk of their revenue. What I say is that there are people who enjoy consoles and people who enjoy PCs, Sony is just going for that second group. And if they can make those come to PS, even better.
I genuinely can't tell if you're being serious or not. If you are being serious then I think gaming in general isn't for you. Am I reading that correct? Are you saying if Sony start putting their exclusives onto pc, then you(and others) will stop playing games? It's like the most retarded thing I've heard.
Playstation could literally put out 0 exclusives next gen and still sell more ps5's. Your main platform is the one you play your 3rd part games on, the ones your friends are on - and with the amount of consoles Sony have sold this gen, that's a lot of people with a lot of friends on that platform. This won't damage Sony in any way shape or form.

I already have a PS4 Pro which I love. I think maybe the PC upgrade is the way to go considering I have GamePass and it doesn't seem like it's going away.
It goes both ways, really.
It's all about that cross-play. I love it. Sony won't need to sell consoles as long as they keep selling games and services. I'm kind of shocked that they didn't create a launcher unless they go the uPlay route and put it on people's PC with the installation of HZD then start selling things out of it..
