I used to pay for 600/60 but then changed to 300/30 because there are almost no places I can get a stable transfer of data with that bandwidth. With everyone switching now to online work, things may get even worse. Right now I'm just getting a bit north of 100 Mb/s but it's Sunday. Tomorrow half of the town will be probably on Skype, me included.

As for console reveals, if things continue to be as bad as it seems now, I won't be buying any hardware this year. It might be better to postpone the generation switch if the world goes into the biggest recession since unified markets emerged.

I'm actually considering buying some gold at this rate, not sure if we are going to face currency drop/collapse.

Is it possible Sony hasn't finalize the design yet? Possible but unlikely?
From what I know Sony about to loose a lot on every console sold a lot of it has to do with the new dual shock 5 features and design remember nothing is confirmed this same person told me the wired was gonna post another article revealing more ps5 features and specs back in February and that never happened so take everything with a grain of salt

Weak bullshit, too much misspelling

No spaces between numbers and units,

"2.060MHz", should be either 2060 MHz or 2.060 GHz

These paste/gifhub places are just 100% unreliable as anybody can make these up.

If someone would have the data I dont think that they would make childish mistakes with units and spelling

Just a point on that psatebin you've mentioned.. In some parts of Europe, the decimal (.) and comma (,) are interchanged in their usage with numbers.

So when you see 2.060Mhz, it could well be meant to be read as 2,060Mhz.

Not sure it changes the authenticity of this example in any way - but something I did not know before either, which is why I thought to share.

The site have a typo he probably meant CPU is 88mm2.... that is 1/3 of the due.
GPU is 228mm2.

There is a imagine made by a user that while it is not 100% accurate it is pretty good estimation for Zen2 and RDNA units sizes.

from the site

"According to Chipworks, the GPU is 88 mm sq, and takes up about a third of the total die. Looking at AMD’s published figures for the HD 7870, however, the Pitcairn GPU core is a 228 mm sq part. So which is correct? Probably both. Chipworks is only counting the cores as part of the GPU, whereas the full Pitcairn die contains memory controllers, audio processing blocks, video encode/decode hardware, the PCIe 3.0 bus interface, and a number of other low-level silicon blocks that increase total die size. The actual streaming processors are only one component"

Again the chip have total 328mm2... do you believe the only GPU cores (the big part marked in the middle) is only 88mm2?

It is at around half of the die size... ~150mm2.

Well, I'm using ADSL at only 16Mbps, and watch 4K@30fps on youtube very smoothly, but not as smooth with 4K@60fps. Go wired, much better.

Agreed. I use wired (MoCa adapter) on bandwidth hungry devices. Three 4K TVs, two PS4PROs, wireless security system, and PC. The setups are four stories apart.

Everything works so much better. PSNOW works unbelievably well. 4k streaming never drops down. It also frees up my 5 and 2 ghz networks for phones, tablets, laptops, and IoT dumb devices.

I have great wireless speed everywhere but wired is the way for certain things.

With the speed this thing is spreading, most people will have already caught it by the time an antiviral drug is thrown on the market. I guess it'll serve in the virus' autumn return.

“Cmodel” means “C code virtual device.”

GitHub troop already planning to accept their data was wrong and spin to fit it in the actual PS5’s powerful > 11 TFs chip.

They can’t accept they used wrong data (or até least something not reliable) to make baseless rumors.
So they will fit the baseless rumors in something that confirms PS5 being stronger lol

You can't die before your death
Do you think they’re going to promote TLOU2 and GOT, or would that be tone deaf too? I actually think they’d get more attention promoting their products now, with people being sequestered in their homes, no one traveling and no sports to watch.

Pushing YouTube advertising is a safe approach. Not the same for product promotion.

I dont have any evidence to support such afirmation and I am sure you neither.

I am not here to spread FUD, man. Sorry ;)

I just said to my friend Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem that the 11.6 number is old news because a guy called Foxy Games was talking about it 1 year ago.

Nothing new.

Rumour PS5 11.6tf

You know who also talked about a 11.6 number 1 year+? NeoGAF.

150 mm2 if supporting hardware is counted? just like in th navi pic you posted where full shader engine is 74.84 mm2 but CUs take 49.1 mm2 of it?

if we assume budget was 150 mm2 then in case of navi

shader engine size (74.84) - 10 WGP (49.1, with RT) is 25.74

taking it out of 150 mm2 budget leaves 124.26 mm2 for WGPs. This gives 124.26 / 4.91 or roughly 50.6 CUs, quite close to 52 CU rumours

As far as CPU clock speeds are concerned I would expect next gen to be pretty close to PS3/360 clocks (nevermind the massive IPC advantage that Zen2 has over those CPUs). As far as the GPUs, I expect the clock speeds to change depending on the BC mode that is used (eg base PS4 and PS4 Pro clocks). Also for BC mode the RT would just be disabled. What I don't really understand is your point about PS3/360 CPU inefficiencies depending on the temperature. Could you elaborate on that?
The point I was trying to make was that in the context of this gen, next-gen and last-gen the PS3 and 360 had discrete CPUs and GPUs (even if the CELL was the first HSA chip), so their clock rates and thermal issues weren’t immediately impacting their GPU thermals/power, so despite 1.2Ghz – 1.8Ghz being an optimal range for performance per watt based on physics – and supported by the chosen clocks of Intel’s first range of multi-core chips (Dual-core, Quad-Core, Centrino Duo), ARM chips, the WiiU chip and Intel’s Atom CPUs – both last-gen consoles chose high clocks and aggressive cooling to handle power draw like a PC does.

By comparison APUs need better clock synergy (AFAIK) as both CPU and GPU might negatively impact the other’s operating temperature, and the more you push the CPU cores, the less thermal headroom you leave for the GPU cores. In compute tasks a GPU core (even at half clocks) can typically out compute general purpose cores in low-branching algorithms by up to 10 or 20x times and probably an SPU by two fold.

If Microsoft and Sony have chosen big clock rates for the CPUs in XsX and PS5 mode then it will be interesting to know why they did that, when my thinking would be that you don’t need all that Zen2 capability at those clocks, and the thermal headroom would be better spent pushing the CUs harder with higher clocks for more performance where it matters. Depending on how general purpose or SPU like the other Zen2 cores are, the github stuff angling at a push for 2GHz GPU clocks might be entirely for PS3 B/C, so the CUs can subsume the SPU workloads.

Yeap that is why I estimate PS5 die at 350mm2 max.
MS if the chip they showed is real they are going with 400mm2.

MS chip is expensive about 10-20% with lower clocks.
Sony chip is cheaper with high clocks.

This is actually from a fellow geek on ERA, he/she actually created another one for speculation on each next gen console based on the data he/she gather.

I downloaded it back then and will share if i find it.
It is pretty hard to find the updated pic via google... I got luck finding that old one.

If you can share it thanks.

WGP (2 CUs wtih RT) is 4.91 mm2? Shader engine with 10 WGP quoted as 74.84mm2?
Yeap it is including RT estimates using nVidia sizes I guess... there are shared cache (L1) and ROPs when you combine a number
WGPs that why it increase when you put them together.
images

1WGP include = dark blue, red, light blue, orange and pink
5WGP together include: 5x 1WGP + Pink (L1) + yellow (ROPs).

From a personal standpoint, I see a possibility of a delay as becoming a reality for both systems. Maybe not, but shortages or people not having the buying power to afford them?

This is an unprecedented event. All schools where I'm at are shut down a minimum of two weeks, sending many parents scrambling for child care or help so they can continue to work, sending teachers home(at the moment) unpaid. Some children rely on the school system for food, which is such a horrible thing to imagine for those so young and innocent.

On the way home, I left the grocery store(which was booming) and observed the locales around me. Office Depot? Dead. Belk? Dead. Restaurants? Dead. Theater? Dead. Fucking nobody.

That will put a massive strain on those businesses as this continues and escalates and I truly feel for those workers who may get that dreaded call, meeting or pink slip in these times.

Gavin Stevens Gavin Stevens what do you think would be the most possible 4GB->8GB & Bulldozer->Jaguar thing this time around?

Last gen PS4 had 3 iterations of development kits as it is well known. First ones were with Bulldozer cores and 4GB of RAM (and also housed in a generic PC looking case), then they increased the RAM to 8GB and also changed the CPU cores to Jaguar. Not sure if the PS4 devkit image that can be found on the internet is the second and/or third iteration, maybe they also had first party third arty even back then and only the first party game developers had access to the latest and baddest iteration of it.

I believe the images that've leaked on the internet are third party debug/dev kits and they won't be the final spec and we haven't even seen the first party iteration of it (probably due to tighter NDAs) which is more up to retail spec, maybe even exact retail spec with just extra development overhead.

You know, Sony could give PS5 info by showcasing next gen graphics with next gen games by only revealing what is already known. The next -gen graphics showcase should speak for itself in terms of what next gen is capable of.

Thanks to Zen 2 architecture we can deliver 4k graphics at 60 fps (showcases next gen game)
Thanks to RDNA 2 we can do raytracing representing realistic light (showcases next gen game)
Thanks to the SSD drive, it can be used as virtual RAM and can load games with virtually no load times (showcases next gen game)

Sony baby, sweetie, darling, you dont need to release any hardware specs: TFLOPS, memory, memory bandwidth, Ghz, etc.

JUST SHOW US THE GAMES. ARIGATOU GOZIAMASU CERNY-SAMA
