Xbox series X devkit

I'm surprised that it's rumoured the Xbox Series X dev kit is quieter than the PS5 dev kit, especially considering how massive and open the PS5 dev kit looks in comparison. I'm starting to believe Tommy's 13.3tf number is true based on the rumoured high noise level of the PS5's massive dev kit.

Yes, and that news about the price of PS5 it becomes more real. they have a powerful sistem that is more expensive, i bet that XSX it will be 399 and Sony canot mantain that price.

No doubt in my mind that if they are priced the same, PS5 will be better

In the last 10 years the only way for microsoft had better specs than Sony was when they came out with X1X one year later at 100 dollars more expensive....

The only way Sony has worse specs is that they target a way cheaper launch price

Microsoft have locked their specs down, and are ready to manufacturer... Sony will have too, but if Sony remain silent then I would think the PS5 is less in power over the XSX and Sony. 🤔

The die leaks to the XSX have been correct... The leaks of the PS5 die have been smaller, smaller die less CU's

That's why I think the PS5 will be 9.2tfs 36CUs, high clock hence elaborate cooling solution.

The CPU in the XSX is locked at 3.8 which was expected... Will be interesting what the CPU on the PS5 will be clocked at 🤔

I would love both consoles to be close in power.. But I just don't see it, until Sony confirm one way or the other 🤔
This isn't it.

Eurogamer article:
"For the Series X, this work is offloaded onto dedicated hardware and the shader can continue to run in parallel with full performance. In other words, Series X can effectively tap the equivalent of well over 25 TFLOPs of performance while ray tracing."
Minecraft Techdemo with RT runs like a 3 legged horse..

16GB of ram seems not enough for the next 5+ years. It´s even split into two, one slower ram and the faster one. This console screams $499 or even higher if they sell that external nvme card.

Anyway, those specs are pretty good, I would've never expect such an high bandwidth, even if I was praying for it in previous posts. CPU is ok, GPU is great, RAM is performant, the SSD is fast enough and has some technologies to speed it up even more.....
And all of this is good for everyone: the better the machines are, the better and more complex third party games will get.

So FP16, eh?

Now where did we hear this before? :pie_thinking:

why did they go for a tower design for retail when, according to insiders, the dev kit would run very silent and very cool in the One X like case?

for example o'dium said the following:

why would they need the tower when the dev kit was already silent enough and had spare room?
I think he was wrong about this one?? Because why go for a tower desgin if your traditional desgin (devkit ) working so cool & there's no heat issue??

They did say both though aha this is directly from the xbox site. You need to relax champ all i have said is they are gonna look stupid if they have to change this title that can be found right now on the xbox site "The most powerful console ever"

iaM3xDz.jpg
As I said this is what they've been misquoting this sinve they said it's the most powerful console we've ever made.

They are making no claims to it being the most powerful console ever made and they wont do until sony actually reveal a lower number if indeed they do.

You are obviously the type of person this selective quote was made for.

13.5GB for gaming should be just fine in a close box setup. If games really get demanding they could lower resolution and it will still be at acceptable levels unlike this gen.

Nope he said Xsx would be 7nm EUV, he failed and 1,8ghz with 52CU's is was a common prediction for 12TF.

"Anaconda 12TF (52CU, 1,8ghz) " Trumpstyle on 9 Dec, 5 days before tommy fiser!

Still the dude went precise .
I mean he did not even went 1.8 he went 1.82 lol.

XSX > PS5

"The Xbox Series X is the biggest generational leap of SoC and API design that we’ve done with Microsoft, and it’s an honor for AMD to partner with Microsoft for this endeavor. The Xbox Series X is going to be a beacon of technical innovation leadership for this console generation and will propagate the innovation throughout the DirectX ecosystem this year and into next year. It is a privilege to be Microsoft’s trusted partner, and we look forward to a successful launch this holiday season!"
I'm gonna be fair on this, why the heck AMD should do or give more and better to Microsoft if Sony is the most seller out there?

I stick with Tommy Fisher, PS5 will be 13.3 until Sony unveiling, it might end up being more, less, we don't know, but we gotta give this man some credit now

higher tflops, more memory, and faster ssd?

i just dont buy it, simply because Sony is not releasing a $599 console and we have reports of them targeting $400. something will have to give.
Again for 2nd Time, BB report didn't mention target was 399 and said indirectly ps5 is more expensive than xsx by saying sony is thinking of taking more loss to price match xsx

If Tommy is right about PS5 (I think very likely at this point) then he'll be the most legit insider out there. People need to start paying respect, I will be first to say how wrong I was about him.
I'll say i was wrong as well, and i dont believe any of them lol. One of them has to be legit though.

Do we have any tweet from Digital Foundry talking about RDNA2 on PS5, man?

I mean, after they have finally secured themselves their Xbox Series X full specs reveal exclusive... I guess there is nothing holding them back to "continue" informing (not spreading 9.2tf rumors) about PS5, right? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Oh, and not that it matters, but of course PS5 is RDNA2. I never said otherwise. I just hadn’t seen that presentation until today because I was not in town. I expect amazing things from PS5.

Digital Foundry is basically Microsoft PR at this point, it has been clear since the reveal of Xbox One X

Can't really blame them when there's next to nothing when it comes to PS5 info.

Guy Photoshops a fake DS5 and YOU STILL trust him?! :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The thirst is real

Look, I was one of Tommy's biggest critics and still am kinda, but I think it's possible he did that on purpose to not get caught. Not saying it was impossible for anyone else to guess what he did regarding XSX CU count and clocks, but I think most of us were going off the assumption it was a 60CU chip with 4 disabled, not 52CUs active on a 56CU chip.

TBF this also doesn't really blow the Github listing on Arden out of the water because the 56CU count there never mentioned if CUs were disabled or if that was the full chip, and it had shader count right. I just think today's news gives Tommy a lot of credibility on the XSX side of things and potentially PS5 too though that one is still up in the air.

That said I'm not licking anyone's balls for this xD.

I'll say i was wrong as well, and i dont believe any of them lol. One of them has to be legit though.

It's still perfectly possible he was right about XSX but could be dead wrong on PS5, and one of the other insiders is closer to being accurate on PS5. Or none of them are and the Github info and testing data is. Or both all the insiders AND the Github/testing data stuff are all wrong about PS5.

Today's news doesn't narrow anything on range of PS5 could be, that's why I'm kinda riding in the middle still. But I'm glad at least MS are being very communicative especially with this covid nonsense of late trying to screw everything up.

We been through this many times before. PS5 was rumored to come out in 2019, which is why we're seeing a lot of info about the 9.2TF GPU.

Few leaks also showed Navi 10, which is based on RDNA 1.

These specs would most likely be correct if it launched in 2019.
