It was proven otherwise, DF said Xbox team did a benchmark for them and it was on par with 2080 at 4K without new enhancements, which is a far cry from 100FPS at 4K that even 2080TI cannot do.

Even a 15% percent real-world difference in performance is easily mitigated by dropping around 4 settings from 'Ultra' to 'High' quality on PC. I think the difference from flat 'Ultra' to flat 'High' on TW3 was ~37% increase in performance when I tested it. Unless RT performs much better on XSX, I doubt there will be any resolution or frame rate difference. Just some different quality settings.
We're reaching a point of diminishing returns, and engines are much more flexible. Everyone will be happy with what they get. I think $499 on both systems will be the mark, and they'll be worth it.

In what sort of state would the gaming discussion be, be it on social media or forums if Xbox came out and said guys we got a really fast SSD, a dope Audio engine for audiophiles, and the back compatibility program has about 100 games at launch.

Console games dont tend to use ineficient effects/settings that tank performance for minimum difference anyways

Dude, Xbox blog doesn't mention the resolution or the settings of the 100FPS, it could be 1440p for all we know. This is vastly different to some people claiming it was running 4K Ultra 100FPS. Not sure where you are going with this.

It will be interesting to see how everything pans out, it was kind of disappointing to see that it only topped out at 10.28TF, but overall it still isn't bad.
I kind of want to see a full breakdown of both systems including all the custom co-processors, etc. because I am wondering if maybe the PS5 has more custom co-processors to handle certain tasks (3D audio, custom Kraken compression engine, etc.) where the XSX will have to shuttle those tasks to the CPU or GPU. Worst case scenario we will just see 1440p checkerboard rendered to 4K on PS5 versus native 4K on XSX, which personally I am fine with.

I am not, My Ps4 pro does checkerboard 4k now, I expect Ps5 to do 4K60 for the next 7 years as its next gen, that was my expectation, ray tracing was not high on my list, I just want a solid 4K60 and would pay for it.
Ps5 is great for tommy in his bedroom.
Sony should of done a ps5 pro for enthusiasts and people who want more than a $400 system - crazy.
And the technology is available now for a ps5 pro, I dont want to have to wait 3 years and buy 2 systems to get what should of been available this year except for some tight ass bean counter at Sony HQ living in the last decade.

Yeah i dont get why its to hard to accept for a lot of folks that Sony wasnt aiming for most power? Price was probably a big reason too. PS5 is still probably a bit expensive. I dont expect either Console under 450€

You have to understand that devs say these things because PlayStation is so dominant and a leading platform for their games. Their games also sell better on PlayStation so obviously they gonna favour it and praise it. It's just a load of BS at the end of the day and one shouldn't pay too much attention to it.
