Well not infinite, but in Burnout 3, Revenge and Dominator, you could do almost all missions with start to finish boosting and there were even missions requiring that for gold. I have played all three games basically boosting non-stop.

I did like a 30 plus Burnout streak the other night in Paradise, the potential is far greater there if this is your jam, and it is my jam.

Well the problem is that there are no stakes, and boosting without anything on the line is much less adrenaline-pumping.

During an event, the stakes are the same as they always have been. Outside of an event, sure, there are no stakes, but were there stakes in the menus in previous games? Of course not, they exist to take you to the next challenge. Paradise simply made you drive to the next event rather than select it from a menu, and I love that. At any time I can just be like now I'm going to go balls to the wall for 20 Burnouts in a row. I do understand why some would find this tedious to a degree, but for me it was like a gift from the heavens. There were times when I would blow right past my event marker I drove all the way across the map for because I was having too much fun to stop.

In 3 and Revenge I went past 50 several times, which is much more intense if any crash would take away the precious medal from you :D.

That being said, it is of course all a matter of taste, I am just saddened that we basically lost high intensity arcade racing with going into HD time and now we have open world "cruising" games being called arcade racers instead :(.

Totally agree that there needs to be more arcade racers again. Whatever the format, I just want Criterion to make a new Burnout, period.

Something we can all agree on.

People usually talk about more epic, adventure-type games when remakes come up, but I’d love to see Burnout 3 visually updated for modern day (plus maybe some tweaks, if needed).

Or you know, a new one. Just not sure what’s left of Criterion. I’d gladly take the remake if that’s not a possibility.

We got the Paradise remaster which I was extremely grateful for, I wish they would do a 1-4 remaster collection, I'd be all over that.

I have nothing against the game; I’m probably going to get it for Switch when it comes out.

That said, I did kind of feel like Burnout 3 was the height of the series, Revenge a step back (it’s less fun to avoid traffic if half the road are just weapons for you to use), and Paradise... kind of weird.

There’s no proper crash mode (unless it got an update for that?), handling feels strange to me, and I’m not sure the open world works for this type of game.

Granted, I did just briefly rent it, but I didn’t feel like the Burnout magic was there.
Burnout 3 is so much better than Paradise.

Paradise is a good game, but it kinda has too much fat. Burnout 3 is just a straight up good racing game. I'd rather navigate menus to get to the content I want, instead of having to drive around a city to start up the mission that I want.
p. much this, it's also the worst argument against battle royales since the spin up to action is so long

but here we are in a world without arena shooters, no burnout 4

or ninja gaiden 4

or tribes 3

or quake 5

Midnight Club Racing 3 > your sim
It's not Midnight Club Racing, just Midnight Club.

Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge were good games. Personally I had more fun with Revenge. But I've disliked Criterion ever since they released Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) which I thought was a boring reimagining of the PS2 original.

I think the actual worst thing ever is playing for ten minutes without finding a single person, then getting eliminated instantly by a camper, or just a really good player. All that, for nothing. Lol.

Dropping at the Tilted equivalent helps, though. Every BR seems to have those hot spots where you can just expect an insane multi-person fight that looks like something out of an action movie. Ofc then it’s the opposite problem. : P

Kind of curious, since we’re on a temporary gaming focus, what’s everyone playing? I just started Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I’m kind of in an irritated mood, but even then, I can tell that this is going to be absolutely awesome.

We're getting Bayeonetta 3 though, and we just got DMC5. Sometimes God is good.

The kids and I are playing Secret of Mana. We just unlocked the Fairie

I've been trying to squeeze in Re3 remake. Mostly I've been playing Alpha 3 and Marvel Super Heroes with the boys. Still on the fence about picking up Granblue.

Dirty Secondary. Some people played the RPG game and have fan favorites. I only pulled the latter but I still use em on the original game everyday and have for almost 5 years.
