So, when does this unlock? I thought the 10th was launch day, so I took the 10th off, but Steam is looking like it unlocks on the 8th (or super early on the 9th as it currently says it unlocks in two days). Am I going to be at work on the 9th annoyed that I'm not playing Cyberpunk?

Welcome all new members. First question upon arrival:

Corpo, Street Kid or Nomad?
Not a new member. I've had a GAF account for 9 years and went over to ERA for a while. Fucking hate that place its such a shit show. But I've been lurking around GAF again for a few months now. Figured a thread for my most hyped game this gen was a good time to break my silence lol.

First playthrough I'm going Corpo.
Second playthrough Street Kid.
Third playthrough Nomad.

I cant wait to play this game. I'm so excited. Its crazy to think that its almost here. I remember watching that first teaser trailer years ago and thinking this day would never get here. But here we are!!!

If you're in the US it unlocks on the 9th at 7pm ET.

I’m really unnecessarily concerned about which life path to do lol. Like all of them have their strengths - closest to my actual life would be street kid, but then I kinda wanna work from the inside via Corpo but then I wanna come into Night City and see it for the first time as the character via nomad. I RARELY replay video games so I’m a little torn. 20 hours isn’t too bad though if that’s the length, like I could manageably replay that.

EDIT: nomad I’ll go nomad... I think

Nomad just makes sense for an intro to the city I think, like you said. Other two make more sense for someone already familiar with the place.

Great to hear the ps5 plays this at close to 60fps as I'm looking forward to more ps5 vs xsx.

I'm hoping to achieve 4k@60fps dlss 2.0 with a rtx 2080ti and 9700k.

So 4k 60fps ray tracing hdr10 (dolby vision in 2021 supposedly) and dolby atmos.

I can't wait!

Was hoping to play this on Series X but that’s not fucking happening. Just gotta hope base consoles can run this without dying. I’m going Nomad first. Both V and I will be newcomers to Night City that way, it works for me.

Should I stay physical or go digital? Digital costs more m, but if not then I’d have to change disks. Ahh man. Fuck that.

In b4 the day one patch removing uncapped framerate option.

God I hope not. I’m thinking of buying it for both next gen consoles - and then I will lend whichever console performs worse to my buddy who only has a ps4. I have a feeling he won’t care that much about the graphical problems on the base versions - but he’ll def appreciate it and I got both so what the fuck why not.

Thanks for the update. Was for sure curious but there was no way i was going in there lol. The concern seems a bit premature since everyone knows there's a large patch coming.

A lot of the 'concern' is from the same 4-6 posters who have been disparaging the game repeatedly for a while. Make of that what you will.

Holy shit, I didn't expect so many PC players here. Is it just this game or have people finally started to move on from consoles?

It’s this game since it was built for PC first above all else. Unfortunately I think I’d need a new cpu and gpu to get the full benefit out of it and I don’t plan on upgrading my PC till maybe the the generation after the next one of NVIDIA cards releases.

On the other hand I hope to god someone makes a VR mod of this game that would just be my fucking dream

I'll be looking forward to your intellectual thoughts on this overrated TRASH Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem

Man, it looks so mediocre to me and the graphics that deceived us few years back were just CGI. Gun play looks shit, that chase at 20km/h speed in the beginning reminds me of 1990-1980's movies, or John Wick's laughable chase scene.

Overall nothing deserves the hype except for the sake that CDPR managed to do one great game among all of their offerings with assist from WB, and that's The Witcher 3.

I might not buy the game until the release a next gen patch, but if it's not coming any soon then I'll try it out. This over-hype could backfire real hard in 1-2 days.

Demon's Souls, Persona 5, Bloodborne are some of the greatest on PS, but you need to pay me to force me to play any. I'm not that guy. :lollipop_tears_of_joy: The Witcher 3 is one of my best of all time, but I'm not liking what I'm seeing so far from CP2077 and brace yourself for the reviews. If the trusted reviewers give good feedback then I'll jump in.

Pretty much. If it ain't Sony First Party it ain't shit in the world of SonyGAF

Grow some skin, and you know my points are right so far for mediocre shooter "at least". Graphics are still good, but nothing near what we've been deceived to believe first. Is it coming in the next gen patch? Probably, but doubt it.

So according to the internet there's not going to be much of a difference between the PS4/One and new consoles until next year's patch/update, so I guess I'll preorder on Steam to preload and just play in 1440p for now. Maybe I'll treat myself to a monitor that supports HDR and 144MHz, my old 32" 1440 is long in the tooth.

I've been considering getting an LG CX 48" as a monitor, but it's just too damn big. Seriously, though, why can't there be a good color accurate, 120+ hz, HDR (like, proper HDR) ultrawide 1440p monitor? Even the ultra-expensive LG UltraGear stuff doesn't quite cut it.

Maybe wait for a few months and many monitor manufacturers will jump in for a true HDMI 2.1 monitor with 10-bit or 12-bit panel. Buying any monitor now sounds like a waste, honestly.

I'm ready for the reviews but I won't pay much attention to the overall score. I have a specific taste. I love RPGs. I love immersive sims. I love Cyberpunk and sci-fi settings. I love 80s esthetic.

This game ticks all the boxes for me. I don't care if some douche in San Francisco doesn't like it and gives it a 6/10.

Regardless of the reviews, Cyberpunk 2077 will do excellent financially which ensures that more games like it will get made. That's all that matters.

I wish I could say the same about Prey (2017). One of my favorite titles ever but I heard it flopped in terms of sales so we probably will never see a sequel. Meanwhile we're getting a fucking CoD, NBA or Assassin's Creed each year.

You love Witcher 3 right? It also had mediocre fighting. What most people loved about it were the graphics, scale, narrative and how dynamic the quests were.

I feel like looking at CP2077 like some kind of COD/Doom type of gameplay is wrong. It’s first and foremost an RPG and it’s what we should base on before the shooting mechanics.

This will not be a game like Far Cry where shooting is the focus and the RPG mechanics or branching narrative is an afterthought. I believe this game needs the benefit of the doubt.

Metacritics not accurate indeed, but you always have those youtubers that align with your taste. What I'm expecting here is something like 8 or 9 out of 10, which is extremely solid indeed, but I gave The Witcher 3 12 out of 10 back in 2015, and I want that level again.

Another major concern is the anonymous protagonist, never makes me attached to the character like a clear protagonist. But gonna buy the game anyway, maybe not day one, but I was eager for The Witcher 4. 1st person view story-driven is not great as well, makes the antagonist more memorable than the protagonist.

Dude, you just claimed that the game trailers were CGI, you have no points. You're pointless. If you can't comprehend that the reveal footage was running on high-end PC architecture and not a PS4 base unit there's no helping you.

The gameplay is authentic, talking about that story trailer with the semi-bald white guy. He's on the cover yet he's not even a character in the game as you just fabricate yours.

I know I keep talking about Prey but it reminds me of Cyberpunk in a lot of ways...

I watched some reviews of Prey and "critiques" were complaining about 2 things: gunplay being average and game being too hard. Prey is not a FPS. Shooting is not your CoD or Far Cry pew pew shoot to kill kind of thing. In Prey when you start you're super weak. I mean your character is weak and you as a player are weak. Your character have no powers and you have no experience.

As you play you learn game systems and you learn about your enemies. You earn new abilities and get better with each encounter. Combat for 2/3 of the game is more about using your brain than your aiming skills.

Cyberpunk is similar.

I never understood why open world RPGs get a pass for poor mechanics. Like if you're gonna put the mechanics into the game, at least make them somewhat good. With how hyped cyberpunk is you'd that it would be both but nope, getting a pass as usual.

Problem is that very same pass is hypocritical. Fallout been given that until it reached Fallout 76 and all the insane problems in it.

I mean when the gunplay is less than late 2000's level of quality there is no excuse as you'll spend 100% of your time with it. Far Cry 2 feels much more better in gameplay, which is not good for a 2020 game.

So, the only console I own is a switch, and beyond that I have a MBP. I know how much hate Stadia gets here (and everywhere) and how little interest it gets, but I'm finding the "free Stadia premiere with CP2077" deal pretty damn tempting considering I don't own hardware that can play the game. Does anyone have any reason why I shouldn't go for this? I have a 500mb/s connection.

So around the time when it lost few remaining RPG elements and became a looter-shooter? Seems about right and fully justified.

Shooting in Fallout: New Vegas is an abomination but it's an infinitely better game than Fallout 4, which had better shooting.

What mechanic in CP2077 are poor from what you've seen?
I have not played it yet so I can't talk about first hand experience. But it seems like the melee is pretty bad. The gunplay also looks kinda of rough but I'd have to play it to make an opinion on that.

But let's take the Witcher 3 for example. I played and beat that, started dlc 80 hours total, and i really like the world and quests but the mechanics themselves feel like they're from ps3. Like the horse riding, it's absolutely terrible for a game rated that high. Not to mention at times the combat can be jank though I did get used it.

Melee from what I've seen was just okay. But that was like over a year ago so maybe they improved on it. We'll see in 3 days. Shooting looked great in the initial reveal (2-3 years ago?), I wouldn't call it rough.

I want to start as a shitty shooter in CP2077, if I don't invest points in shooting when creating my character. I want to get better and learn together with my character.

I keep repeating myself and keep coming back to Prey. When you start that game you're slow. Your aiming is slow. Your reload speed is crap. But if you invest in combat abilities by the end of the game you're basically a Doom guy.
