Which isn't the case at all. PR =/= reality. That's why it's PR. Some people just love to set themselves to for failure. That's because Sony scums claimed that Xbox can't run on Unreal Engine 5 the way it ran on PS5.
it is absolutely an embarassing and honestly stupid excuse ...like 100% .(as well as being an insult to an engineer who worked on the demo) ..and i don't even know how someone can trust him. but like i said everyone is free to trust what he wantsSweeney pointing out the laptop was playing a video and not the actual demo is an "embarrassing excuse" in your book?
Wtf qualifies as a "reason" then?
Hivebusters says hello. It’s honestly the most beautiful game I’ve seen in motion so far and will probably be until R&C gets released. Definitely same category as those in level of detail although I don’t remember the loading times. I’m shocked that the Coalition is not considering it a next gen effort.Ypu
You can see the proof already with games like Ratchet and Clank, Demon Souls and Returnal. There is not a single game on any other platform that comes close to the level of detail and loading speeds as those ones.
They do, it's just not next-gen exclusive built only on Unreal Engine 5.Hivebusters says hello. That clown has been pushing the laptop thing since the unreal 5 demo. Always with fud, never with facts.Sweeney pointing out the laptop was playing a video and not the actual demo is an "embarrassing excuse" in your book?

once again, however, we managed to talk about ps5 in an Xbox thread. in my opinion we should add up all the threads that talk about ps5 i / o in a big thread ala gamepass /s
That was debunked.

Only if that SSD can act like the GPU, sure. With consoles finally adopting SSD, they have been able to remove seek times, and redundancy. But there still aren't any games that take advantage of loading in high detail as you move the camera, which was implied by PR. There are no games that can't run on PC. Literally no examples, as the most proclaimed thing was the ue5 demo, and how it would need to be dumbed down to run on PC and XboxYou are claiming that a system made to take advantage of storage has no advantage when running on a 2x faster SSD.
There is being distrustful of marketing and then there's totally misunderstanding what are product is claiming to do in the first play.

lol, ok....if this helps yall sleep at night. Maybe aim this at those who actually said this. Because I doubt many here said this. Notice I said many....Which isn't the case at all. PR =/= reality. That's why it's PR. Some people just love to set themselves to for failure.
Nobody said this. Who the fuck buys the exclusively of engines. Sony simply invested 450 million into Epic to integrate the unreal engine with their “green screen” replacement technology in the film sector. Why would Epic suddenly stop licensing out their engine to Xbox developers.
Who the fuck said UE5 is exclusive to Sony? Can somebody show a link or a quote? This is a top tier hallucination.
Also you can play UE5 demo on a smartphone using only youtube, like that Chinese guy playing it on youtube.

I swear its folks coming up with imaginary narratives to feel vindicated.
The only ppl I could even think said or thought this was ppl not interested in discussing the tech and just looking for ammo in console wars..
One thing I find a little confusing is that UE5 is being used for Hellblade 2? Has Ninja Theory had access to the engine for almost a year longer than The Coalition?
It's possible that Ninja Theory was a pilot partner with Epic for early access to UE5. NT has been a strong advocate for UE with how it promoted the "Independent AAA" development approach with the first Hellblade.
But also, the wording of the Hellblade UE5 mention in June of 2020 (the TGA teaser had released Dec 2019) was , "The team will be building the game on Unreal 5 and leveraging the power of Xbox Series X to bring the Hellblade franchise to levels never before seen." So, make of "will be building" as you see fit...
Your UE4 projects will continue to work in UE5. You can think of it as a lager-than-normal UE4 point-release update. I want to reiterate that UE4 will fully support next-gen platforms. Also UE4 and UE5 are great, versatile engines but won't replace proprietary engines and always more taxing that it should be, direct voice comments from Returnal dev on random 1fps drops:
Mind share, and hey it worked. I know it's a meme, but there were folks on this very forum who seriously believed Sony's marketing deal meant that UE5 ran best on Playstation.I don't understand why Sony would show off unreal 5 with the ps5 if virtually none of their big studios use the engine, unlike Microsoft.
Niiiice now have Sony make a game using UE5 releasing anytime soon please
All games being developed on UE4 now and will not release in 2021 will simply shift to UE5 as the transfer is organic.

It's not sony show the UE5, it's Epic promotes their UE5 engine using PS5. Epic works closely with Playstation team to create UE5, but it is scalable 3rd party engine, so it can be used on multiple platforms.I don't understand why Sony would show off unreal 5 with the ps5 if virtually none of their big studios use the engine, unlike Microsoft.
Sure, but that article is almost a year old. Epic Games' plan was to have UE5 to developers in preview access as of early 2021. As far as anybody in the public has heard, that may not have happened as planned. (Or, it did happen, quietly, and Epic will have some partner showcases ready for the next Xbox XS/PS5 event or E3 in June or GDC in July?) Also, I mentioned this in an earlier post, but moving from UE4 to UE5 will be a move, not just update-and-go. It's said to be easier to move than it was going from UE3 to UE4, but it is a big point-release jump with some new stuff and very likely some key differences. Even point releases inside UE4 are not always stable (and apparently the very most recent builds have been more trouble-prone than usual. When upgrading, some things will be easy, some things will be nearly automatic, and some things will make at least one guy in the office grumble that you made him put all that work in that all doesn't function right anymore... And especially if you're looking to make real use of Nanite and Lumen, I would think your UE4 work would mostly be a prototype for what you really wanted to build with the new UE5 systems.
Specifically with Hellblade 2, it feels like you're agreeing with me then that what we saw in Dec 2019 was most likely not using any systems like Lumen and Nanite and UE5'ish stuff like that (albeit Ninja Theory is old hat with global illumination in the Enlighten variety.) And I would be both surprised and not-surprised if Ninja Theory had access to the Preview build of UE5 even last year when that Microsoft UE5 announcement was made regarding Hellblade; Ninja Theory may still be working with UE4 even now, if UE5 is running behind schedule.
My guess is that Hellblade is one of these UE4-to-UE5 conversion projects (coupled with other familiar toolkits plus some internal Ninja Theory special sauce), and then even though it was the first next-gen game we saw, progress reports on Hellblade 2 hint that probably another studio will get the honor of being the first next-gen game released using UE5 (well, the first UE5 game will almost assuredly be Fortnite, which will hopefully have a little more pizzazz to it then when Fortnite was the first game with Chaos Physics....), and after that we'll have to wait still for the 'real' first UE5-born game (albeit UE4 upgrading may be so smooth and developers so ambitious with their UE4 projects that we may never know the difference.) Those are all guesses, though.
They just wanted to show it off in the best light which is PS5.It's not sony show the UE5, it's Epic promotes their UE5 engine using PS5. Epic works closely with Playstation team to create UE5, but it is scalable 3rd party engine, so it can be used on multiple platforms.
Ninja Theory says otherwiseGreat input there. Hellblade 2 was prerendered CGI at around 24fps at 21:9 ratio (less than true 4K), same with the trailer of Forza. We can't really make anything from those. I would argue that Halo E3 was much more believable and doable and not sure what happened with it to do that very steep downgrade.
It's too early to have any idea about Hellblade 2 or any CGI we've seen so far until we see gameplay, and it'll continue to be a small game according to Booty.
Ninja Theory says otherwise
Being 24 fps and cropped doesn't mean it's prerendered cgi. It looked to be all in-engine and was said as much. Microsoft even claimed to be real time which may be dubious, but still, doesn't appear to be prerendered cgi.Mate, I just downloaded the official trailer and it's 24fps per second, literally counted it manually using VLC player. Go ahead and check. Also it's not a true 21:9 4K but a chopped down 4K 16:9, easy to check on youtube or on PC.

I'm all for discussion. Too bad a certain group of "crips" constantly bumbard the thread. I didn't come in here discussing SSD or ps5. That was your folks.
Ue5 is not synonymous with a certain platform. It's available to all hardware. It's not gonna run worse on more performant hardware. Gpu=/=SSD. But carry on..

You wanna bet my boy ....... You wanna bet. This is what happens when morons don't do any fucking research. -- watch the video also yes people on Twitter are toxic anything else you want me to clap cheeks with? Or you want to throw some hands, my boy.No one claim that. Is just some of you being salty. Now are making shit up.
Nice Pc mate.PC is also not a synonymous with a certain hardware configuration
the demo wasnt running because the name "PS5", it was running because it meet certain technical requirements that happen to be in PS5 , do you actually know what a PC is?, nobody its saying it wont run on "PC", just that there is a certain technical requirements to do that, as long as whatever amalgam of hardware you have and call PC meet the requirement then you are good to go
here is a PC, it should be able to run the UE5 demo since its a PC no? maybe if I push the turbo button?

That money was to own a piece of Epic's revenue, any profits Epic made will be benefits to Sony as well. It was not used for marketing.Ms doing their own pr….and for $250 million cheaper than Sony did
People are forgetting that. That money was to own a piece of Epic's revenue, any profits Epic made will be benefits to Sony as well. It was not used for marketing.
it is widely use engine in industry be it first party, third party or even indie developers. it is the most popular engine. the showcase is for everyone. basically tell them: "to all UE users, look how cool and good this engine running on our console"I don't understand why Sony would show off unreal 5 with the ps5 if virtually none of their big studios use the engine, unlike Microsoft.
No one has said UE5 was exclusive to a certain platform. They didn't back then, and they didn't in this thread.
Lets just agree to call the platform you were talking about the PS5. You know it. I know it. No point trying to hide it.
I'll give all the posters who responded to you a slap on the wrist, but you my friend, the instigator, deserve a spanking on the butt
I wanna see receipts. Nobody on gaf has said this engine is exclusive to ps5. Sounds like you were playing the victim with made up facts.

And yes, Xbox can scale it down from 20 million polygons per frame to something manageable like 4-5 million polygons per frame to run the same demo.

Exactly, if they could have made a better demo on another system to promote UE5 they would have. They just wanted to show it off in the best light which is PS5.

Enjoy going through all the pages though. Some of y'all even commented in these threads back then! We're y'all blind or purposely look past it?
No, I'm not. People said it wouldn't run on anything besides ps5. Then the narrative switched to it not being able to run at that quality and resolution. You know, the constant change of goalposts that y'all normally do. Now that I've proven y'all wrong, y'all try and change the goalposts again on what was said. Smh I can't with y'allYou’re getting game and engine mixed up. People have said the demo won’t run but nobody AFAIK have once mentioned the engine.
