Do you see any difference in assets, LOD, Textures, Lighting, fx ?

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart PS5 - The Digital Foundry Tech Review
The assets used in cinematics are the same ones used in gameplay. Every asset is chains of levels-of-detail: models have LoDs, textures have mips, and even many materials get more and less complex as you get closer to or further from them. If you construct the LoDs optimally, the transitions...www.resetera.com

WTF is this man come on, blurred and zoomed youtube footage with tons of motion blur really? I can post screens of bad looking areas of R&C without all the blur and compression in gameplay, and you can see if its cuts corners or not.

No dof, it is the activated Aberation Chromatic mode in gameplay, working on the four corners of the screen, and you can't disabled it during photomode. But for the filter, You are right, and everybody knows that filters cost zero ressource since they can be played as extra features when you finish most of games with filter in their photomode. The first one is just a filter and extra DoF in photomode, nothing more.
Following you now on FLickr, thanks for the link ! You take mad shots, this is pure art ! Kudos to you !I mostly do Virtual photography on pc with Star Citizen: https://www.flickr.com/photos/captain_raoul/

I think that will be the next option they will add to the smarthphone app. But you can put an USB stick in the PS5 and extract it in high res format .png or if you have a second account, then you can also send them to yourself. But you can just use usb stick and copy multiple fotos/videos at onces.

Yea RC doesn’t look too hot the ground is really flat with random scattered rocks around
Yep, except those screens are 1080p or worst, upsampled in 4K, with grain filter to the max, dof activated, and AC blurring the four corners of the screens, so his shots are not representative of the real visual quality of the game, because when you post ingame shots, it as clean as those following screens, the more you zoom in, the more you catch the tiny details, and note that all of my shots are jpeg with the terrible compression we know about, I will take PNG shots the next time :

Why are they flat according to you ? Because of the art style or because ot a lack of power ?Higher res won’t effect the flat ground and geometry seen in those shots
Kind of reminds me of FFXIII. Gorgeous game by the way. But yeah, a lot of the shots of those giant cities, but you're on a little slide reminds me of it. Similar art style as well in some respects. FFXIII had some giant tech cities like Eden and Academia.Higher res won’t effect the flat ground and geometry seen in those shots
just goes to show , let a fktrd mess with the picture settings , then take a pic with shitty hdr , fkd brightness settings ,, yikes.Yikes, that looks like a upscaled PS4 game.
No need to look after Ratchet to compete with Star Citizen, Horizon Zero Dawn on Pro is enough (no cinematic) :

Yes, and it does it with the addition of Ray Tracing, something that FH5 is missing.
And FS2020 is just a bunch of satellite pictures plastered around. Not quite like the textures applied to enviromental polygons.

I have been to NYC, and trust me, this is not even CLOSE to been photorealistic!
Cloud gate!
Those are not volumetric clouds and the water is not good with no physical and in most locations is the worst in gaming.
I think you are mistaken this isn't your personal GotY topic, it's about graphics.Yikes at people here bringing failure to took down rachet
Cyberpunk 2077 : an uber messed up clusterfuck, most overhyped disapointing game from last year
Flight Simulator : Does it really classsified as videogame? Cos if it is it is the most boring game i ve ever seen
Star Citizen : really ? The owner of this game should be sued for scamming people money for god knows how much
Rachet is a great game guys its ok to admit that
I have been gaming a very long time. I have been through many generations and remember being promised Toy story level graphics many moons ago. .
Playing R&C A Rift apart (especially with a good hdr tv) is an unreal experience. Cranking the game into Fidelity mode makes toy story seem very primitive today. It actually feels and looks like playing a pixar movie. It gets my vote because the game is just an amazing achievement. In my eyes this is the new graphics king by a pretty big margin. I know guys came come on here with their $1200+ rigs saying they can push X games at X frames per second. Fuck all that. AT 30FPS IT"S AMAZING!
The Ray Tracing mode at 60FPS may still be the best looking game to date!
I do and i think rachet is a better game and i think most people would agree with thisI think you are mistaken this isn't your personal GotY topic, it's about graphics.
You actually play Cyberpunk, or just a hive mind knee jerk reaction? Just curious.
To this day, horizon is still the best open world in existence when it comes to how evenly detailed are all the pg in the world, from the protagonist to the guy with 2 lines of dialogues, there is no rdr2 or days gone or metro exodus who came close to this shit.No need to look after Ratchet to compete with Star Citizen, Horizon Zero Dawn on Pro is enough (no cinematic) :

You still don't understand, and i used the FH4 image as a example why open world games need to render further and more than linear games. Here i will show you what i mean. You are mixing up "can you go there" with draw distance and rendering. If say there was an invisible barrier right in front of that ferrari what would that mean in terms of geometry and detail on screen? Nothing.
Sure high detail assets of the castle wouldn't need to exist on the HDD but an open world game streams those assets when you get there nothing to do with rendering or map size.
So when somebody posts pictures like this
What does it matter if you can 'go there' or not? There is a lot of geometric detail and the ships are still flying and fully 3d modelled and believe it or not you CAN "go there" look at the last pic and you can see the path you can walk.
What you're saying is nonsense. I don't look at that FH4 pic and say wow look at the geometry and animations just because I can go there. The geometry and animations in that pic are limited.
Partly true. All games nowadays, even linear games, use streaming engines. The Forza backgrounds you mentioned are using lower LODs just like every other open world since the PS360 era. You dont render anything in the distance at max detail or what the eyes cant see. The back of the mountains in either game are not getting rendered or are rendered at lower level details. You still don't understand, and i used the FH4 image as a example why open world games need to render further and more than linear games. Here i will show you what i mean.
Look at the red arrows on the rocks in the back, thats the furthest you will see in R&C because the devs allow you to walk/slide on a linear route. Close objects on the route are high quality and the further it goes the lower it gets. But in R&C the rocks are the furthest you can see and you dont see whats behind those rocks there is nothing it doesn't render anything. you can't go on the rocks or get close to them like the platform hes on. We are not even sure if the back side of the rocks are renderd or if its just empty. They can use all the render budget that would be used on details on further distances on closer and mid range objects. The max distance is like 2km max.
![]()
Now in Forza the mountains with the red arrow are fully detail renderend even the back side and the yellow ones are also high quality rendered again with its back side. You know why, because at any moment you can go up there, you can drive there. Its rendering even the furthest object (at lower lod obv), the draw distance is much much further than R&C. they need to render it because its open world you can go there, they cannot hide it with random building or trees because they don't now where the player gonna drive.
![]()
And we are not even discussing the environment quality, like look at those mountains in Forza. Packed with detail and high quality foliage thats reacting to wind and car contact.

You talk about the 4K screenshots i posted? If so you should read first what i commented on there and why i posted those screenshots. The guy was posting 360p youtube footage with tons of blur and in motion Of Forza and compared it with R&C and some of them even said that R&C looked a gen better lol. Why didn't you comment on there post back then, you say that my 4k screenshots are low res and shit but where perfectly fine when they posted 360p zoomed images of Forza. Also even at 8K those flat places will not dissapear, even in your own screenshot there are alot of flat surfaces and the rocks are also here and there low resWhy are they flat according to you ? Because of the art style or because ot a lack of power ?
I'm waiting for your reply just to laugh at...
Edit : oops, I just noticed that the reply I sent with many shots, wasn't for you but for the poster you quoted, sorry...
Its unmatched on consoles but when you have an expensive PC-Masterace rig....i dont know.I think it’s unmatched at the moment.
Insomniac are wizards. Their mastery of the hardware is years ahead of everyone else.

So Star Citizen. The amount of times I've heard this term used for Star Citizen over the last 5+ years is insane. Alpha insinuates there some kind of a beta coming. It ain't coming.In-Game alpha
Holly shit. At first i thought you were joking because of the Star Citizen, but then i saw your page. Damn.I mostly do Virtual photography on pc with Star Citizen: https://www.flickr.com/photos/captain_raoul/

Did you play R&C?R&C doesn't look like a AAA graphics-wise (in-game)
for me, Forza Horizon 5 looks better in-game

I understand very well, you just don't seem to get how open world engines work. Being able to go there makes no difference to what is actually drawn on screen. They have LODs for that whether you can go there or not.You still don't understand, and i used the FH4 image as a example why open world games need to render further and more than linear games. He played neither.Did you play R&C?
Cross gen, open world but manage to shit all over ratchet in term of details density.
Eh. Detail is one area where Ratchet has Horizon beat. If anything there is too much. My eyes hurt from playing it everyday because there is too much going on.Cross gen, open world but manage to shit all over ratchet in term of details density.
