Halo Infinite - Campaign Overview (October 25th - 6am PT / 9am ET / 3pm CET)

Can you fly in Horizon? Hint: No
How many NPCs are on screen? Fewer than Infinite.
Different games, different rendering priorities.
I agree with you, but I would argue that the dino's are more complex than multiple basic enemies in Halo.

I don't think we should even bring up another game that's totally diff anyway, we would be better off ignoring it cause it leads to a console squabble

Looks pretty solid based on this showing. It will be interesting to see how Far Cry-ish it gets, as I quite like the linear but open nature of the earlier Halo games, so for me it's a risk them trying this, but it could be interesting.
I'm hoping it's more Metroid than Far Cry in the sense that some places might be gated off until you upgrade the suit or disable structures, or simply add parts of the map back where they are missing.

Really impressed. The draw distances, texture mapping, and lighting are all bounds and leaps above what was show last year. Halo has never been about the graphics however, it has a different art style that is more cartoony then say TLOU or HZD.

That being said the gameplay, open world, and RPG elements look like an incredibly huge amount of fun. The lore and story seems very appealing, and the classic humor from Halo is back. That is what Halo is about.

Damn that's looking good. I'll have to download the 4K vid and watch it later, but I think what's most impressive is the change in lighting. Gives the landscape real volume now and brings the colors out. The 2020 footage, I knew what they were going for, but there weren't enough points of contrast throughout there and the colors looked kind of muddy/washed out due to the lighting there.

Whatever changes they've made, they were well worth it.

Somebody get this Covid Craig brute some moisturiser and please point out where the subsurface scattering is

Craig is a supermodel now? Because otherwise why would he have any need for moisturizer?

Rewatch this explosion tell me its not weak

I mean they could have the explosion effects persist for minutes at a time if they wanted, doesn't mean it works for the gameplay they want or that would feel natural for the series. Having dense smoke and pyrotechnic effects lingering for a long while could impact readability and actually work against the player (the AI could identify certain smoke/pyrotechnic effects to track the player down, or in MP other players could do the same and scum cheap sniper kills, etc.).

Watch the explosions of the silos and see where they should have started exploding from and where they ended up exploding from the top in the same animation cycle

Ah yes, we found the flying grass, everyone!

Over a million views on YouTube between the Halo channel and Xbox and a 1% dislike ratio (not that I give a shit) but I'd say the team at 343i can sleep well tonight bravo. Between this and the flights what a turn around.

Yeah the response seems to be overwhelmingly positive. It doesn't undo the fact the game's missing some features which should be there Day 1 (campaign co-op, forge, RT even if I don't think RT is technically mandatory), but the actual campaign experience looks like it's shaping up to be very good and satisfy old & new players alike.

And even visually, it's a pretty good-looking game not just for the necessary improvements or on a technical level, but also artistically speaking. I think they've hit a good balance between classic Halo aesthetic and what stuff from the newer games work well with that.

Again it's not the best-looking game ever but it doesn't need to be, in terms of soft sci-fi shooters it's looking really good and visually unique/interesting. All while staying true to respecting the Halo aesthetic.

A lot of people are excited for this, and I am as well to some degree. But this trailer just didn’t do it for me, and I really don’t like the part where they said enemy strongholds and outposts. I just hope it’s more like ODST and less like every other current open world game where you’ve got 20 instances of the same 8 things scattered all over the place. To be fair, I haven’t really been following the campaign portion of this game after being disappointed with 4 and 5 so maybe I’m just not really informed as to what it’s going to really be like.

Now that you said it, while I'm a person that's more in favor of fps and fluid gameplay, I will definitely give the campaign another spin once RT hits PC. Wonder how much it'll improve the world.

I wonder, since they said infinite is supposed to be a GAAS and get content for years, if they mean SP or only MP and if that means that Microsoft plans to keep the XO version also updated and supported through the whole Series SlX generation.

Honestly would be a bummer as I think this game could hugely benefit from dropping Last gen consoles.
IIRC it will be both unless priorities changed. They said there won't be another traditional sequel to Halo for the next while and new standalone campaigns, game updates, etc. will be in Infinite. Phil said the structure will be similar to MCC. I imagine graphic updates, engine stuff will also be included so they may drop last gen consoles support eventually.

Imagine attacking a stronghold from four different sides vastly apart from each other? This is going to be quite a challenge.
Yeah, I’m sure it will be awesome when it’s done, but they must be having a hell of a time trying to balance this.

Was that when you sad that Infinites gameplay loop looked like FC6 with less variety?
bitch slap slapping GIF
It does have less variety technically. When it comes to weapons, vehicles, and abilities, the option for stealth and alternative routes, and co-op.

Your statement is ridiculous by itself, and even more so for a game that isn't even out yet.

The gameplay of any Halo is so far beyond the crap excuse for gunplay in any FC. And don’t talk to me about variety in reference to an Ubisoft game where you literally do the same 3 things over and over.

What did you say? That fanboys are obnoxious with their insane hyperbole? Because it’s true.
Exactly.

I didn't say anything about the gunplay of either games. What I stated about FC6 having more options is a fact. When it comes to the gameplay loop, it will largely be the same especially clearing outpost to upgrade. In both games you'll be shooting and blowing up bad guys and clearing areas. Not even sure why you're bringing up other Ubisoft titles.

Cant far cry 6 be fun and also halo?

Games can just be fun?

I just hope the story is coherent and awesome this time.

I'm a huge halo fan, but don't make me goto a website or watch a arg that links to a comic to see an anime to find out what's happening lol

Gameplay looks like pure sublime magic and I'm here for all of it. Give me decent ish cutscenes and maximum playability.

Name some FPS games that have the same quality of sandbox. Or are you just here to deflate hype?
Firstly, I wouldn't even qualify Halo Infinite's open world as the sand box type.

Secondly, why are you attaching FPS to the requirement?

I think the game looks fun to play as I've already stated. Just pointing out some of the ridiculous statements being made.

Thankful for heroes like you keeping us in check. Can you imagine what might’ve happened if we got overhyped?

Honestly I’d prefer you get off topic and talk about another game that you like better rather than trashing people people’s excitement.

With that said, Halo is back in a big way. Hope that didn’t upset you.

You've played the campaign in Infinite have you? Your Dad must work at Microsoft then, or are you breaking NDA?

“FPS” so I’m not comparing it to Mario or Tetris.

Also, who cares if some are overhyped. Fans get hyped all the time. Even happens on movie forums.

There’s a time and place for the hype. And this is it.

Who am I keeping in check? I don’t engage anyone spouting a bunch a nonense. Not worth the time.

How long is the game and how good is it? I played some 70 pound game this year which I completed in a weekend with 100% completion. Felt lesser than ps3 games too content wise.

This looks like it could be a good amount of content and a lot of fun! But I'll let you tell me :)
I need more details on what we get in the campaign.

That does look vastly better than the first showing. Closer to the engine demo, I wouldn't say there, but significantly closer than the e3 demo.

Delay was good. I will still need to be convinced on the Banished and the Weapon.

This is so low effort lmao. Only further proving my point.

It makes sense for people who are excited to be here. For some reason you feel it’s your job to give counterpoints based on assumptions you’re making. And worse you state these assumptions as facts.

Who am I keeping in check? I

No one. Let me assure you

Now why are you coming in here for this day one of a new trailer?

It’s not like you’ve played the game and are arguing with some reviewer.
