The same MS who lied to the EU regulators about having no intention of keeping certain Zenimax games exclusive?
What's happening now is that all gamers are benefiting from COD. Nothing is stopping MS from making exclusive content and that'll likely happen considering they will own the IP of the deal goes through.
My argument isn't baseless. All gamers are currently benefiting from COD and MS will have the power to remove it if they choose to do so, a company that has a history of shady practices.
All gamers? You have that magical switch version that no one else has? Microsoft is not going to kill the IP making it exclusive. All the top competive shooters are all multiple platform for a reason. Removing it from playstation would allow another game to become the next top shooter. Same reason minecraft is still on all platforms. Shady lol they honor contracts it would of been for best to break both deathloop and Ghost wire tokyo to help with the AAA drought. Instead they honored them.
Yeah he said that stuff literally 2 months before the PS3 Slim launch but the 360 that sub 300 Arcade version. The 360/PS3 were pretty close in price/features(HDD size etc) aside from that basically splitting hairs and perception.
Can we stop with the language lawyering now? Who gives a shit? Microsoft's deeds are all that matters to the regulators and that's why the deal is on the ropes. This is why behavioral remedies will probably not be enough.

I'm talking about current gamers that COD is available on.
And why do people keep bringing up Minecraft? You guys are acting like the game is getting released every year when it's the same game that was released YEARS AGO. Yeah, they're going to keep a game on the platform that was released in 2011. Using Minecraft is a bad example.
You guys can't ignore what MS told the regulators. They said it wouldn't make sense to make it exclusive and they did.
Just link me to EU regulators saying they were lied to by MS.
Starfield and Redfall were announced for other platforms?
Well, there's a deal blocking them from releasing COD on gamepass so Sony thinks they would have. They already said it'll be on gamepass after the current block expires if the acquisition goes through.
All gamers are factually not benefitting from PS getting extra content and blocking it from being on gamepass. No goalposts were moved, you're just ignoring them.

From January 2018, talking about the Xbox One X being the lead platform for the game. Saying in the year previous (2017) they’d hired 200 new members of staff for their new Lemington Spa studio. This was the studio head. Not some pleb.
Everyone knew it was Fable, even the Daily Star.
So yeah, when they’ve spoken about expecting it to release on Xbox One X (and the OG Xbox One) it’s fair to say people expected something sooner.
Considering the game still seems to be a minimum of 2 years away, it’s a long dev time.
I mean this with every ounce of all due respect HeisenbergFX4
But I couldn't give less of a shit how Phil Spencer games. His actual jobis to supply my platform with games that entertain and pushes this industry forward. He has failed in that aspect. That's my perspective and opinion of course, but the numbers and stats validate my point. Since you're on his friends list and able to message him, tell him to get off social media/podcasts, stop giving interviews and focus on building great gaming experiences.
I mean, the last new AAA game he brought to the fore, was Quantum Break back in 2016. Truth be told... If I found Phil Spencer on my friends list, I'd boot him off immediately.

We don't have to see eye to eye because I disagree with virtually everything you said but its cool, we don;t have to agree
And I game with people because I enjoy talking with them no matter who they are and when someone is not interviewing him and he takes off the PR cape he is quite a funny guy

They will for the EC. CMA is the one that might not agree to behavioral remedies, and this might be a case of the UK taking the opportunity to go beyond EC.
This thing will be settled before MS vs FTC that’s for sure.
Didn't matter what? They said multiple times that Bethesda deal was for exclusives, yet you carefully worded your post to mean something else. Instead it was people like you who were arguing there won't be any exclusives because "can't ignore a install base of 100 million users.

Just because you projected yourself onto the head of Xbox, does not mean we will make a OT.
I find it funny that you guys are trying this hard to prove Phil is lying. I remember when apparently Phil was lying about Bethesda exclusivity because "they can't recoup the costs by ignoring a playerbase", and Bethesda games did stay exclusive as they claimed.
yes, they said it before they finished the acquisition.
An Xbox executive promises to honor all existing agreements by keeping Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty series on PlayStation platforms.
www.cbr.com
where?
why? He said Bethesda deal will about bringing exclusives to Xbox. When did he said anything about Bethesda titles being multiplat?
why lie? They have claimed multiple times it would be exclusive.
Mojang is also first party. Unlike Bethesda, when they bought Minecraft they made their intentions clear of Minecraft being multiplat. The messaging is exact same with Activision.
Prove what? They said the deal was for exclusives(except for contractual obligations), you guys said they can't afford to make exclusives. They were right. They said Minecraft would be multiplat, they were right.
yes
Does he also fear when Minecraft stays multiplat? why would they buy Activision if they didn't like its current state.

They don't need to say it, the report proves that they did.
Did Microsoft say they no incentive to withold Starfield and Redfall from rivial platforms?
Did they lie to the EU regulators or not?
Stop playing games. Anyone with common sense can see that they lied.
You said Sony blocked it. There's nothing that says it would appear on Game Pass, even if they didn't have an exclusive deal. This is the Resident Evil Game pass crap all over again. lol

PlayStation gamers benefit from the extra content and all non-Xbox gamers benefit from these games not being on GamePass.
GamePass is a dystopian subscription future where you don’t play games anymore you play a smear of indies and sequels for 5 minutes at time. Delaying this future protects the PlayStation and Nintendo games we enjoy.
No, I merely stated that they were never announced for, or promised to be on PS.
You can type it however big you want, and make it any color you like. It won't change the fact that those games weren't promised to be or announced to be available on Playstation.
It is true but the example of how MS/XB handled Bethesda was called out by the CMA. It revealed how MS has not necessarily lied but over-stated their position to not hold games from competitors. Don’t get me wrong, MS has every right to do that but they also have to deal with regulators that see a pattern of XB keeping games from other platforms. Nobody, including the CMA , are dumb enough to think that Starfield would not be on Sony’s platform if MS had not made the purchase.
Must be at least two (counting myself) people who genuinely play current COD games and follow this thread for that reason. No idea why people care so much when they claim they don’t play COD, don’t understand how big / taxing it is (looking at everyone claiming MS will put it on Switch), or just want to play 2014 single player campaigns.
The bottom report is from the CMA, it was documented and investigated by the CMA.
How is it a mere claim by the FTC when the FTC and CMA are BOTH referencing the report by the EU regulators?
We note that, in the context of the European Commission merger investigation in the Microsoft/ZeniMax acquisition whose report was published in March 2021, Microsoft submitted it had strong incentives to continue making ZeniMax games available for rival consoles (and their related storefronts). Microsoft’s decisions described above regarding new titles Starfield and Redfall, and the suggestion of future exclusive releases in the Elder Scrolls franchise on Xbox, which reveal its real-world incentives, strongly suggest that static incentives analyses developed in the context of a merger inquiry may fail to capture significant unstated commercial incentives.
All marketing deals have standard contracts. It's a similar marketing deal with RE8 that was leaked. People said Sony blocked RE8 from appearing on game Pass. You have to prove that Activision INTENDED or WOULD have put Call of Duty on Game Pass. This means if there was no marketing deal, then Activision would have put Call of Duty on Game Pass.
The "continue making available" is in reference to existing and future multi-platform games (which was Deathloop/Ghostwire at that time, and any future Fallout 76 content packs, and enhancements packs for games like Fallout 4, which are still going to be released on PS5 later this year as well).
We really should stop bringing it up inaccurately and move on from it.
I heard from a very reliable industry source that lives behind MS headquarters in the woods that Xbox is buying Sony out and then selling the entire PS and Xbox brands to Tencent in order to buy the entire UK and create a new country.

These are the EU's exact words when approving that merger:
"Even if the combined entity was to engage in a (total or partial) input foreclosure strategy, the Commission considers that such a strategy would not have a material impact on competition in the EEA.
"Rival consoles would not be deprived of an essential input and could still rely on a large array of valuable vidoe game content to attract players."
They cleared the merger without requiring any incentive or guarantees from MS, and I have posted direct statements from MS's merger documents stating that decision to make future games on other platforms will be on a case by case basis.
MS did not lie about Starfield or Redfall no matter how many times you try to make others believe it.
You are very oddly stuck onto this one thing. Let it go my dude.

It mentions Starfield and Redfall. MS said they had no intentions of removing it and they did. They lied. That's why the CMA and FTC are bringing it up.
It's part of the standard marketing rights contract.
Microsoft had marketing rights to Cyberpunk and they had a limited edition console. Do you think they were going to allow Sony to make a limited edition console? Based on your logic, they blocked Sony from doing it. They also blocked Sony from having the game appear on PS+ during its release date.
It's basically this: We have marketing rights, and we don't want anyone else to market the game better than us. We're paying for those rights. It's a contract that covers all bases. This is in no way shape or form PROVES it was blocked from Game Pass. You have to prove they had intentions of putting it on Game Pass.

I think the wording couldn't be anymore clearer, but some users are just stuck on semantics.
Exhibit A:
Clear cut communication that existing games will not be taken off of other platforms, and MS will honor the (timed) exclusivity of Deathloop/Ghostwire.
Exhibit B:
Future games will be released on platforms with game pass and other consoles will be taken on a case by case basis provided if they're willing to run MS's services. I think it's safe to say Sony won't want to run game pass on their console platforms.
Exhibit C:
EU considered the possibility of MS making future Zenimax games exclusive and felt that it did not make a big difference , i-e it was under their review, it's not like they just flipped a coin and passed it. They did not anticipate/demand/request that MS will keep making all Zenimax games for other platforms in the future.

This continuous childish need to try and assert that MS AND PHIL LIEEEEEEEEEEEED has gotten very old and stale now.

They did a pitch in 2017, and started recruiting for the game in 2018. Scoping the game with the highest end Xbox console (at the time) in mind doesn’t translate to active development.
At this point, there’s no indication that the game is “minimum of 2 years away”.
Bungie bought their freedom from Microsoft because they wanted to make multiplatform games, and Microsoft wanted them to stick with Xbox exclusivity. Their next IP will be multiplatform.
"The developer behind Destiny is now a part of the Sony universe. Sony Interactive Entertainment officially closed on a $3.6 billion deal today to buy the independent game studio and publisher Bungie, according to tweets from both Bungie and PlayStation Studios. Under the terms of the acquisition, Bungie will still maintain creative control over its operations and independently develop its games. As leaders from both companies have noted since the deal was announced in January, Bungie will be considered an independent subsidiary of Sony and won’t be required to make either current or future games exclusive to PlayStation consoles."

No, in January 2018 the head of the studio said they’d recruited 200 people in the previous year (2017) for their new Lemington Spa studio to work on their new project.
I will buy you a coffee of your choosing if this remains true when they actually announce their first proper new IP/game under Sony's publishing (again, not the one they're currently working on with NetEase).

Unless they said they wouldn't do it then did it, it's not a lie. Sorry that they weren't being asked the questions you wanted them to be asked I guess.
I don't have to prove Activision intended to put it on gamepass because I never made that claim. I only claimed Sony is blocking them which you agree is happening.
I disagreed with you saying all players benefit now when it's just PS players. After an acquisition all PS players would lose is the exclusive content while PC/Xbox players would get it on gamepass.
I heard from a very reliable industry source that lives behind MS headquarters in the woods that Xbox is buying Sony out and then selling the entire PS and Xbox brands to Tencent in order to buy the entire UK and create a new country.

You do because you said they blocked it from Game Pass. You don't have any proof that it would be on Game Pass. MS has marketing deals and games never appeared on Game Pass.
PC/PS/XB all benefit from COD. PS players will likely lose COD in the future. That's not a benefit to the players.
And here everyone else in business is making written contracts so everyone can point to that if one party decides to stirr of what has been agreed upon.
But I guess phil is different. Everyone JUST HAS to take him by his word.
Doesn't matter if hes gone the next day. MS will obviously stick to what phil said back then.
That how phil does business I guess.

Saying you have incentive to do something doesn't mean you're a liar if you don't do it.
All I have to prove is Sony has a deal blocking COD from gamepass, which I don't even have to prove since you agree with that.
Saying PS will lose COD is baseless doomposting. In reality Sony will get the same version everyone else will get and Xbox/PC will get it on gamepass, a net positive over what's happening now.
Anyways, you haven't proven MS lied in like 10 posts and you keep asking me to prove a claim I never made so I'm moving on lol.
I will buy you a coffee of your choosing if this remains true when they actually announce their first proper new IP/game under Sony's publishing (again, not the one they're currently working on with NetEase).
Haha, alright. My point was on their messaging—they are saying it will be multi-platform. They haven't been shy about saying it. If, for whatever reason, that plan changes, then that is a "new" event. So, you owe me coffee.
Again, MS has been pretty clear about the communication on the exclusivity status of Redfall and Starfield for a while, since before EU/FTC approved that merger.
EU ruling stated that that MS making games exclusive would be viable if they can profit from it, which I think we all assume MS intend to.
The Commission notes that an input foreclosure strategy would only be economically viable if ZeniMax games were able to attract a sufficiently high number of new players to the Xbox console ecosystem, and if Microsoft could profit enough from their game purchasing activity. 115
Secondly, MS's communication on future games has been pretty clear from 2020, all of this is information EU had access to and as I mentioned above, the possibility of exclusive Zenimax games was in the docket during their review as well, no hoodwinking involved.
All I have to prove is Sony has a deal blocking COD from gamepass, which I don't even have to prove since you agree with that.
