The new revised model with detachable drive is all but confirmed when looking at the most recent leak so I guess that Tom Henderson has been right on the money with his Sony HW leaks so far.

Guess the PS5 Pro will come to pass as well and the leaked specs are most likely spot on?

I have said this to the mods here and anyone else on these forums who would listen that Tom has a damn good source at PS for hardware

And yeah the Pro is coming

Ps5 slim being so big isnt good sign if we hoping for strong ps5pr0, it means they couldnt cut existing ps5 into actual slim version, ofc its supposed to be 5nm so for holidays 2024 3nm there is still some room for improvement.
Nonetheless if we follow logic it wont be ez to actually get ps5pr0 on 3nm thats at least 2x as powerful as base ps5 gpu wise, hopefully im worrying for nothing and sony engineers once again surprise us with quality and innovation, need more leaks xD

Psst, there's no evidence that AMD supports GDDR6X. And you have to account for the double FP32 that's in RDNA3+.

Also the original PS5 appears to be already discontinued it's production...

We'll have a better comparison by comparing both in a the same pic. To me that PS5 'slim' looked quite smaller than the OG one. Should be just called PS5 'small'

Looking back at all of the noise surrounding the ps4pro andrew house acknowledged what the pro was the summer leading up to release I don't remember them talking about it so early I was always under the assumption it was September. He also explained why they didn't have pro software ready during that summer and he said nothing was ready to show but it seems they would have if software was ready. I think with kits out so early compared to ps4 pro we'll be getting a showcase a lot early plus the fact devs would be more familiar with the concept of a pro model because it's essentially PS5 games just patched to run with higher settings RTGI, RT, full fat 4k 🤣....

With 4 GB instead of .5 reserved for the System it would be like the PS4 Pro. that way more of the 16 GB, or even all of it would be usable by the devs. But at this point it is just for fun. Like the PS4 slim at 4 nm when the Pro would be on 3 nm and go out earlier. Who know what the prices will be for both ?
Still amazing to me that people still don't understand that the PS4 and PS5 has a unified RAM pool and a DDR and GDDR split combo will never happen.

That DDR is for the secondary processor, which is responsible for background tasks.
The secondary processor isn't powerful enough to do anything else, why would it need 4GB of RAM for background tasks?

In Road to PS5, Cerny maximized the RAM usage of PS5.

If he knew he could get more RAM for the GDDR, he would have made the SSD controller have 4GB of RAM from the get-go.

Yep, I agree.

I don't think they'd want to canibalize the PS5 sales in the holiday season (driven by the release of Spider-Man 2) by announcing the Pro this year, but I can definitely see them making a first announcement at Sony's CES press conference in January, where they also properly unveiled PSVR2 for instance.

I'm thinking of some few general details about it alongside either a tech demo or a trailer for an upcoming game running on PS5 Pro (DS2? Wolverine? Factions?), with the full specs breakdown by Mark Cerny himself in March at GDC, just like with the PS5, and finally a proper PlayStation Showcase with all Pro footage around E3 time.

It was actually 13 Teraflops, from Gaf's very own Tommy Fisher.

Tommy Fisher = TF = 13 Teraflops CONFIRMED

and how can we forget about the legend, the pigeon dev himself...cucoo.cucoo.cucoo.

Those were wild times dude lmao
I mean, some head to head games it punches "a bit above it's weight" like it's a 13TF system when compared to a 12.1TF one. Baffling till this day from DF.

Interesting talk

I swear they're hyper-focusing on the 8K (which is laser etched into the XSX APU, btw, and on both system's retail boxes) just so they can shit on it later because we all know this is just a marketing footnote and all to push reconstruction tech further. Nothing more. Most definitely not for native.

Focus on the more robust RT and other rumors. :pie_eyeroll:

yeah pretty much. its their only go to "bullet point" for discrediting the product.
because parroting same old "we dont need pro, gen hasnt started" bullshit sounds increasingly stupid, while sub-hd 30fps games are released left and right.

Don't worry. "Creative choices" are okay now. ;)

They have, in the full version of that video they discuss possible ML upscaling with the Pro and in a previous direct video they discussed other aspects, such as moving away from Zen 2 to newer Zen cores.
You mention nothing of RT in this sentence. I've heard them say 8K more times than I can count so far.

Build up 8k then trash it as not needed when it doesn't do 8k

Literally no other tech channel is focusing so much on "8K" like they are. Literally no gamers are either other than troll armies after the fact. All other tech channels are talking about the rumored and patented RT customizations Sony has and how it will possibly play into this system (and even help AMD down the line).

I really can't watch him when he leads off about a lot of rumors that are circulating from him and "others"

I beat him by a few days on the original PS5 Pro talk and when he said it was dead I said all along it was still coming, now he wants credit?

Remember this one not that long ago? His bipolar video titles cause me to never click on them.

What gets me with him is questioning whether Sony will go ahead with PS5 Pro at this point...I mean what? Not only are there fairly detailed specs but release date info, devkit info, and info about Sony doing dev presentations.

Not to mention that the decision to make a Pro would have been made years ago just after PS5 launch if not before. Sure there may have been a delay from the early '22 rumours (covid complications?) but at this point surely even the suggestion of this being canned now is crazy talk?

You included 'other rumors' in your post, I was addressing that. Most of the discussion they have had after the spec announcement has not been about 8k. Of the 45 minutes they spent talking about the Pro in the past two directs, less then 10 minutes was about 8k. And it was only about up both times as the questions they were asked was about 8k. They have talked about possible newer Zen cores, pulling from RDNA 3 and 4, how it could be positive for future BC and ML upscaling.

8K should only be a footnote. It has been brought up by them often since the first video and they spent most of it talking about how can it be marketed. Who gives a shit how.

Literally the first clip video out of all the other meatier content is the focus on 8K. Clip the RT and ML stuff first then and make that the focus. The initial always sets the tone.

RGT damage controlling his potential bogus leaks by prefacing any leak by saying "there are multiple designs for the Pro chip with different specs blah blah"

Tom Henderson went out his way to say:

It’s understood that Trinity has been in development since early 2022, with sources citing that although the rumours of a canceled PlayStation 5 Pro project are always “fun to read”, Trinity has been the only project in the works for the Pro model.

I'm not putting too much faith into TH but he's significantly more credible than RGT.

All these 'leak' YouTubers are full of shit. Not always wrong but the hit rate is dire. MLID is the worst of these. And man do they get defensive when called out on it.
The Youtubers do it for the clicks, some do it just because they want to share info to others who are passionate about the same hobby

Plus no one will bat 100%

I can't believe this guy actually leaked Viola 😳 he made a passing comment about it in this video as if he was the one who leaked the codename back in May so I had to find the video and damn sure the video labeled "PS5 PRO is a monster" starting at the 12 min. mark there it is...dammit now I have to keep looking at his videos I just wish he wasn't so annoying to listen to but I gotta give him credit he obviously does have a source

At this point I almost take whatever Tom Henderson leaks as fact, he has been that accurate. I can't really name any well known leaker with a better track record tbh. Has he ever been wrong when it comes to PS products?

RGT on the other hand... he seems to have some possibly legit sources but 75% of the info he relays is so all over the place it could just as well be someone trolling him.
He's also one of those leakers that frequently starts his sentences with the phrase "I'm hearing..." which never stops sounding like some hippie new age crazy christian voodoo cult shit to me, but that's probably just me.
