Concord vs A 15 Year Old PS3 Game

To be fair, over the past fifteen years, most action games have ditched complex simulation and AI in favour of visuals and animation. The industry has enjoyed immense growth during that time, so while I do mourn it somewhat, I think the industry probably had the right instinct. These kinds of details make for interesting side-by-sides, but in the moment-to-moment gameplay, they don't matter enough to dedicate serious time, budget and CPU cycles to creating.

I bought a ps3 after my 360 red ringed killzone 2, demons souls, uncharted 2, and mgs4 provided endless fun online. But lol at the soy boy developer who kept saying *uh, UH, UH HU*

I was there day 1 for KillZone 2 and 3. Same with Resistance 1-3. I don’t want to spend a dime on these hero shooters. They just look boring and whatever. I’d rather pay for Call of Duty. I love PS, but I hate the idea of a live service game on PlayStation. It’s everything I don’t want from PlayStation. It’s not even a reason I like Sony as a brand. That stuff is better on PC anyway.

Definitely.

If Concord had cool/hot looking characters it would be a success.

But they decided to shove Disney rejects on the game and people hated.

Replace this:

Video Games Cowboy GIF by PlayStation

With this:

Season 1 Invasion GIF by Xbox

And the game is a hit.

I really don't give a damn how these characters look, when you almost only never see them in first person. Imo, there is nothing wrong with Lennox....

You don't give a damn, but the people that buys characters on CoD, skins on Overwatch and customizations on Valorant do.

It's almost as if the game dev industry doesn't give a shit anymore, because most of the talent left and what we are left with is a bunch of talentless hacks.
this seems more apparent with every new western AAA game. We see it in all entertainment mediums. Low talent hacks riding the coattails of their brands former glory.

Think of how nervous some of the AAA brands must be. Game dev cycles are long as hell and they keep burning money. China and S. Korea are hungry and they could easily steal the thunder by the time Western AAA course correct, but who knows if that correction is even possible considering how entrenched DEI is in some of thse companies. We know these activists would rather have a whole company burn than to admit they are wrong.

I'd gladly go back to the days when gaming wasn't as mainstream. Even though the PS2/OG Xbox was very popular, gaming wasn't "mainstream" back then in the sense it is now. I'd rather be back in those days. And when devs actually gave a shit and made awesome fun game. Fuck now I feel like replaying God Hand for the 10000th time

His title was “Managing Director”, so in this case he did both.
You seem like someone who just wants to disagree for the sake of disagreeing, you do the same in other threads as well. Seems pointless to continue this conversation with you. This you?

That's not very useful to compare a single player game vs a competitive multiplayer game (different performance targets and priorities), but Concord's sound design is very lackluster.

Most of these big FPS games feel like a step back from what we had on PS3/360/PC in that time period. In retrospect, Battlefield 3 might be the peak of the genre.

Let me get this out of the way, the story is average and Sevchenko/Team is not the memorable. However the game is still leaps and bounds in:

- Atmosphere / Immersion
- Gunplay (could care less about COD lovers)
- Warzone Multiplayer
- Violence / Gore / Grit
- Picking different tactical strategy with perks for your Soldier in Multiplayer
- Heaviness Of Movement
- Helghast (Iconic)
- Amazing World Building
- Amazing Back Story (if you ever read it)
- Scolar Visari / Brian Cox

What do you think is better? Amuse me.

Haters gonna hate. That E3 trailer wasn't even as good as the actual game. KZ2 critics are people who are happy with Concord like shit. Go back to playing trash.
- any Wiimote and VR controls game.
-almost every shooter out there that has better input lag, mouse+kb, etc...
-almost every other warzone multiplayer that the gameplay don't suck
-cool
-cool
-lol, that's 150ms of input lag
-Lol iconic
-not at 30fps
-lol did't read

The Concord gunplay actually looks smooth and good in that clip. Killzone 2, while a great game, has like 3000ms input latency.

Still got some KZ Haters out there from 2009 I see 😂😂😂. Btw, anyone who did not play this game on Elite also missed out on some of the best flanking AI in gaming. The game was legit fair and hard at the same time. Oh here:

Killzone 2 had such incredible atmosphere and awesome gunplay

Sony could have remade KZ2 MP only and called it “Killzone: Warzone” or something, gave it PS5 next gen graphics and updated controls, and it would have cost far less and been far more popular than Concord
Building out a KZ MP game with maps from 3/SF/M would be awesome.

The people relentlessly bashing Killzone and defending Concord are missing the point.
Multiplayer, single player (even if it is MP footage), its the attention to detail that is absolutely lacking and fucking sucks about a lot of modern games. Imo, you want an even better comparison as to how dogshit and boring Concord is, look at Team Fortress 2, which is a 2007 game which still holds a larger playercount than Concord ever will. It has an iconic stylized art style, maps loaded to the brim with small cute details and intricate map layouts, a cast that is perfectly designed and balanced for casual, fun play, and all sort of rock/paper/scissor dynamics that make it a game that people still play today. The gunplay is still loads of fun too. Meanwhile, Concord is just more derivate dogpuke made by people who took video game classes to artificially create a professional video game career, instead of visionaries and talented individuals who made games out of passion.

The fact you have no idea who Visari is from the game said enough for me. Your place is with Concord and Twitch shooters.

Btw, the best MP map in KZ 2 is Beach Head and its a damn travesty it was DLC. Its the most tech heavy atmospheric map I had ever played on in any game. Absolutely wild for PS3.

Still calling massive input lag "heaviness of movement"?

Someone hasn't emulated it yet on RPCS3 on PC at 4K 60 FPS yet I see with control mods. Youtube is your friend but it literally takes away the feel of what made the original so great. Hate all you want, the feature just made the game better. You wanted Twitch crap it was all over the place, you don't have to shit on things others like.

Some of you guys arguing don’t seem to grasp that 15years in software and hardware is a massive amount of time.

Everything KZ2 does should be possible in 2024 as a baseline.
But capable software developers have had to change industries as all that is left are talentless hacks who couldn’t write their own engine if their lives depended on it.
UE5 node combining editor users who copy broken code from Git Hub, the lot of them.

The amount of bugged games is at an all time high. And if things are broken they aren’t able to fix it for months on end (latest Sony example is the broken cross play in Helldivers 2).

Back then Studios like Evolution Studios had to close shop because their mp component in a single player game was broken for three months. Nowadays no one would bat an eye. It’s normal for games to not work.

Men_in_Boxes Men_in_Boxes tried to tell me that TF2's character design is horrible.

Every multyplayer shooter is gonna lose against a single player fps with some of the best hit reactions ever when it comes to meaty gunplay, not just concord.

Art design wise, a donkey turd would win against concord, not much of a challenge.

It really says something about the high quality of Killzone 2 that so many people thought footage of its multiplayer was singleplayer. What a failure of a gotcha.

Killzone 2 was developed on a proprietary engine so they didn't rely on UE5 to do any heaving lifting like Concord. It was built on notoriously difficult and exotic hardware versus the modern console's environment of PC parts in a box. It was made for about $45 million in 2009 (around $65 mil today with inflation). It had a full single player campaign and online multiplayer. No microtransactions and the only DLC was some map packs released months later.

Something has gone seriously wrong in AAA development if Concord is what $100 million gets you nowadays.
