An entire video of one on one fights against standard enemies, is going to look boring as fuck whether it’s this or Ghost of Tsushima

Anyone that’s played AC games knows that you’re constantly fighting against groups of enemies. For that reason alone this video comes across as misleading.

As with modern AC games, however, the pacing and bloat will determine how enjoyable it actually is. But I don't see it completely bombing as we initially thought.
Assassin's Creed is one of those series that attract a lot of normies that aren't plugged into the culture warrior stuff.

At worst it doesn't match Valhalla, but it will sell millions of copies all the same.

Probably isnt going to beat Valhalla in sales (that did a billion dollars) but its still gonna help Ubi to sell for alot more.
We (GAF) like to look down on Assassins Creed games, but Origins and Odyssey were not only good games, but well received in general.....but said games are too mainstream for GAF or something.
If GAF gaming was your only source of opinions on games, you'd think no good games exist.

I skipped Valhalla due to burnout after Origins and Odyssey but from my understanding fans of the series still dug it and i guess the normies as you call them ate it up.

Looking forward to this one, almost entirely so i can play Naoe ive been wanting a stealth fix for a while, and her gameplay looks right up my alley.
Combat combat is gonna be whatever, as long as its as serviceable as Origins then I can stomach it, but id much rather Stealth my way through as much of the game as possible.

My wife got me to get Valhalla for her on PS5, she finished the entire game + DLC, but she said it felt like work lmao.

I didn't get Mirage yet, don't personally care for it, and I don't think she would either.

I played all 3 and valhalla was definitely the weaker one by a large margin, bailed out after 20 hours.

Hopefully this one is more like origins or at very worse, odissey.

The downside of AC games is the busy work.
But for my IRL not so gamer friends they love they can spend the dollars today and keep playing the game for hours and hours because that busy work actually makes them feel like they got their moneys worth.

If they played more games per year, they would likely feel the way I feel about the busy work, especially when the game level scales, there is no advantage to completing everything because you will always be the right level to beat X.
If i was younger or played fewer games, these busy work games would be a godsend.....right now I just really want the skills that make the game more fun, then I blast my way to the end.

From what i have seen the forum is pretty kind, maybe even complacent when it comes to certain games. And has mainstream tastes too, in general.

Origins/Odyssey are good mindless entertainment if you like roaming around in a giant map. The world is breathtaking.

But it is shallow (in both the action and stealth departments). Depends on what you mean by good game.

It seems Shadows will be the same. It already take inspirations from pretty shallow games, it's pretty much what we already have with less authenticity.

The hate boner for this game is wild. Both the stealth and the combat look like significant improvements over the past games.

Latest ac games usually have decent stealth, definitely better than tsushima or what i'm seeing in indiana jones, and people call these 2 games goty contenders or more.

Trying to find coherency on gaf is like trying to find trump lgbqt death squads members on reeee.

Terribad?
You must only play 10/10 games, cuz that looks okay, likely alot more fun to actually play than to watch.

Its not Devil May Cry, Bayonetta or Ninja Gaiden, but it was never meant to take on those games and seems to be an evolution of the combat system we have been using since Origins.

What were people expecting?
No, I just expect a certain level of quality for games with huge budgets being worked on by hundreds of people. It's bad just going by AAA western standards. This is the first 'next-gen' AssCreed and it looks like a total downgrade. Who wouldn't have higher expectations after Valhalla? That game was also shit.

I like that in one of the naoe clips she precisely cut a banner on the ground in the exact same point she is doing the cut with the weapon, little things that add to immersion.

Ironically ive been playing FF7 Rebirth, and it encompasses all the worst of 'ubisoft' in terms of level/quest design. Something which I was not expecting and was very disappointing to see.
And the greatest thing about it is that 9 times out of 10 you can go to a different FF and get an entirely different experience. AC should have that.

At the very least, the stealth seems improved.

Better animations, using dynamic shadows to hide and prone mechanic.

Mate at that point hadnt the sunk cost fallacy already kicked in, and you could just blast your way to the ending?

The stealth seems closer to the older games.
Which is a plus for me.
Its using GI which is a plus for me.
The combat seems like an evolution of the Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla games.
Which is a meh from me, cuz I liked the "simple" combat of the prior games, but I can stomach this combat.

Calling Valhalla shit is also a stretch, as I said I didnt play it, but from what I understand its not shit.....not GOTY material but certainly not shit.
Then again, maybe you only play 10/10 games so your expectations are always at "best game ever", you should probably chill with the Square-Enix execs, that 10/10 game will come eventually.

We’ll see. I’ve never had a problem with AssCreed stealth and how gamey it is. More mechanics should help spice things up.

Looks meh to me but not terrible.

Is Shadows the one Ubi game where they are planning to use anti-cheat so people to use tools to get their stupid currency they sell to essentially skip grinding?

Odyssey was a big one for that grinding (didn’t play Valhalla).

And yep, that’s the one, lol. Denuvo plus memory scanning.

If you consider that i played all the latest ubisoft games via ubisoft pass on pc, even 10 hours are already enough to get my money back :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

I was 20 hours in but i had a lot of campaign to do still and the most tame, uninteresting vikings ever made weren't good enough to hook me for another 10-20 hours, and the combat was somehow worse than both origins and odissey.

Chatacter slowing down just before every jump makes it look janky and artificial. Animation just doesn't flow nicely from a run loop to a jump animation.

Looks pretty decent to me. I'll have to play to see if it feels "right", but I don't have many complains in all the recent gameplay footage I've seen.

AC has really flown the coop as far as its original feel. Older games felt like the characters used like, leverage, weight, momentum in their movements. Does it not bother anyone else that it almost looks like dynasty warriors now? Swinging weapons that destroy hardwood crates all around you without slowing, crazy "physics" and "magic moves" essentially throughout. It looks fluid enough to say its probably a fun game but AC games are NOT what they were- not that they were perfect... but why choose this over almost any other action game now.. wheres the grounding? We're talking about a game less grounded than the average arcade beat-em-up, with "parry indicators" and those weird pauses the games combat equates to a game of DDR anyway by now. I want to see more stealth gameplay etc before I really judge it but so far its insipid.

I just beat Origins and the DLC. Really enjoyed that game, but I am a fan of history especially during Rome's transitioning into an empire.

I might try this being into the Edo period of history in Japan. Looks interesting.

I am not sure what you're seeing. Looking at Origins for example, the animations are more stiff than this.

I still think Ubi should've gone with a character creator for this game and for future AC games.
