Question still remains where’s mgs4? The other msg games are adorable and it’s nothing but tin foil hat garbage surrounding mgs4!
That code base is probably a mess, considering all the crazy things it did to the PS3 at the time (remember all those mandatory installs between acts?) Not to mention that it ran at like 10 fps in parts at 480p.

If they can't pull it off, it's just laziness.

No PS3 game has ever been emulated on PS5. I guess that just makes every developer lazy, huh?

I can't wait to finally experience Crab Battle in glorious HD.

The first copy I bought had some kind of corruption and crashed 90% of the way through the Microwave Hallway every time. Right before the climax and best part of the game, I later learned.

Though, luckily, I myself had already reached climax when Snake found the SOCOM again in the original truck.

Just like old times.

That trailer is spoilerly as hell.
Question Mark What GIF by MOODMAN

Is there anybody out there who hasnt played this game already?

Ocelot face continue to look wrong but nice trailer.

Spoilers for a 40 year old franchise:

Yeah it seems like they thinned his face out and gave him more pronounced cheekbones to make him more closely resemble their version of The Boss, and also gave him The Sorrows nose. It makes sense narratively, but unfortunately the end result kind of makes him look like a strung out weirdo.

OG Adamska certainly had high cheekbones, but his jaw was wider/cheeks were fuller and his nose was completely different. The new models eyes are also quite sunken.

I just WANT a full on UE5 remake of MGS2 but I'm sure it's not happening.
I'm sure it happens but only if 3 is successful. They will of course remake 1 before it. Personally I'm not sure if I want to see MGS2 getting one. There is just something about the original graphics and art style that makes it timeless.

I agree about the art style sentiment.
I think MGS1 will bet its remake if Snake Eater is successful. But I feel that MGS2 is too big, strange and divisive for them to take on remaking it. But it's my favorite.

No desire to play this again, for whatever reason, especially without Kojima involved.

Seeing Ape Escape was hype though.

The characters all look a bit wooden in their movement but fine whatever il still get it.
It's because they're matching the PS2 game 1:1, even the area-to-area transitions where the camera swoops up, the screen suddenly fades to black, and then it loads in a new area with snake running in.

An odd decision but I guess they didn't want to touch those aspects of the game aside from aside from very, very small stuff like the camo menu.

Peace Walker is the game that could really use a remake. It would need to be more than just a visual update though, and at this point it seems like Konami is understandable hesitant to change any of Kojima's original story/gameplay designs

The Installs between acts was because they focused on the smallest sized PS3 sold at the time which was the 20GB model, Patch 2.0 added things like trophies AND the option to install everything so you could play through the game without seeing an install screen. Also the game ran at 1024x768 with 2xMSAA.

Should be a slam dunk

Between this and Silent Hill 2, Konami is off to a good start.

Granted yes they're remakes, but I was legitimately surprised how good Silent Hill 2 Remake was.

SH2R >= RE1R >>> RE2R >>>>>>>>>> RE3R

This outcome is far more preferable to the AAA slop that all the Western studios have been churning out. I just hope they can get a Capcom-like workflow and get these games out the door with speed and efficiency. Hopefully Konami has another Squad already well into production on MGS2R and get that launched in 2-3 years while we're waiting on Delta Squad to start and finish MGS1R.

Loves his juicy stink trail scent
I think this game will be great….:but the real question is….where does KONAMI go from here?!
I think them remaking games is a key to steady revenue.

Let’s get some updated castelvania games with new HD visuals but still metroidvania.

Let’s get a SH1 remake.

MGS1 remake would be a tour de force.

MGS2 is also very welcome.

Silent Hill 1 Remake.
Martin Landau Good Luck GIF by GerryAndersonTV

Christ I hope so man. I think they should have started with this, but I guess Silent Hill 2 was the biggest challenge and they overcame it admirably, starting with 1 would have been far less controversial but far less notable as well. I love the first one, and it truly deserves an update, and is much more due for one then literally anything else in the series.

The only thing I wish was there in the remake is the control scheme from MGS5. It was really good.

Replying to my own post 🤷‍♂️

This was probably posted on GAF already at some point but I didn't see it, so "reposting" again just in case: about 30 mins of gameplay from a gameplay demo footage. Seems pretty close to MGS5:

It will have things from it. Aiming and shooting will probably work close to it and they added crouch walk. Those were already in the 3DS version. Also it seems like you can lie on your back when aiming and move. That wasn't in the original game.

Yeah. There's a part of the gameplay video (or trailer? Not sure) where you can see Snake on the mud, moving on his back while aiming at and moving away from an enemy.

I loved how in MGS5 (and maybe MGS4? Can't remember) you could lay prone or on your back, move around, and position your torso for aiming in different ways. It added a lot of flavour to the gameplay. Had a situation in MGS5 in which I had Snake holed up in a tower, enemy bullets zipping around from all directions, while Snake was laying prone or on his back just moving the torso around as needed, trying to get enemies on his weapon sights. Good times (even though I disliked MGS5 overall).
