Didn't they do New Vegas? That was pretty unplayable on the PS3. Though I doubt this will be open world, so hopefully it won't be that bad.

Will this be turned based? Haha.

You can't really fault Obsidian too much for that. The Gamebryo engine barely works at all with the PS3

I actually think this sounds awesome. Matt and Trey writing it means I'm at least interested, plus I tend to like Obsidian games despite their problems.

From the other thread:

Obsidian's designing, but Trey Parker and Matt Stone are writing.

So it'll be a broken fucking game and it won't even have a great Obsidian-style story to make up for it.

I'll still probably get it.

If the writing is as sharp and funny as the TV series, and Obsidian does a good job of the game part, then this will be awesome.

Colour me pleasantly surprised.

I'm probably the biggest Obsidian fanboy on the planet and I'm also a huge South Park fan so this is awesome news to me.

I for one am very excited. South Park has so many great characters and that's alot of what makes a good RPG anyway. If Obsidian is given time to iron out the tons of bugs I'm sure the game will have (they won't), then this should be quite a treat.

Aren't people always clamoring for some sort of different setting other than the old tried and true fantasy/sci fi settings we've seen in the past? Now, we're getting one and people are bitching.

Because every Obsidian game I have played has been mostly janky gameplay experiences that serve as a mystery to how they got passed testing?

I've played KOTOR 2, Mask of the Betrayer, and New Vegas (on two different platforms) and not once have I encountered any serious or gamebreaking bugs.

So let me get this straight.

They are using Obsidian's weakest aspect and not their ability to tell a story?

Great.

So because you didn't encounter bugs, they don't exist? Try telling that to the people who played KOTOR 2 and New Vegas who actually DID encounter some serious bugs.

A south park RPG by obsidian? Hmm, This could very well be amazing.

If this was turn based and you controlled a party of the 4 boys, it could be the coolest thing ever, but since it says you play as a ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL, it probably won't be.

I... don't see what's so funny about this apart of GAF overhyping something completely yet again?

Sounds like a cool announcement, and Obsidian developing it should make sure that it's not just some license crap. Could be really interesting. Definitely better than generic shooter sequel 265 oder generic action sequel 632.

I think part of it is because all previous south park games have been shovelware pretty much, and all licensed stuff ends up like that too other than the recent Batman games.

But this is motherfucking Obsidian, the best RPG dev in the business. Respect the legends and let's see what they can do. I hope Matt and Trey are working really close with Obsidian and at least end up sharing writing ideas.

People don't like this? It could be great.

Didn't anyone play the South Park Tower Defence game? It was a lot of fun. I look forward to what they can do with the IP in an RPG environment, there's a lot of room for imagination and parody.

Also the Simpsons game was a lot better than it gets credit for, and that's coming from someone who despises modern Simpsons.

Obsidian are my only concern, they have a history of putting out buggy but great RPG's.

Oh wait, was there a hype train, because I missed that. Well if you got your hopes up and were disappointed maybe you'll know better next time. (Says the guy with the Headhunter/Shenmue avatar)

Please somehow include throwing snowballs at turkeys as some kind of mini game or skill quest. Just for nostalgia's sake.
