A couple shows I dont really see get recommended around here that I figure would be interesting for some but not for all.
Africa Salaryman: I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters. It wasnt sides hurting funny or the story being anything to write home about(oddtaxi) but it was just a nice solid watch.
Go Go Loser Ranger: Show has a terrible name but I like the overall premise behind it. Wanting to see more but not wanting to read the Manga like usual for me.
Bang Bravern: Not sure if there was hype or love around here when the show came out. However, this show is absolutely amazing. Even if you aren't a fan of the genre.

Out of me doing no research this season. I have checked out a couple of shows.
Ubel Blatt: First episode was okay. Animation was whatever(might be spoiled by all these big budget shows lately). The action seemed fine but the story and characters seemed a little lacking. Willing to give it 1 or 2 more episodes
Sakamoto Days: This one feels weird. I guess it has some hype and the manga is pretty big. However, the art style is weird to me. The animation and action is pretty solid. Story is just one of those that has to develop since the premise is established. Willing to give it maybe 2-3 more episodes but not too impressed with this one either.
Solo Leveling S2: I read the manhwa. Not really all that happy with the pacing of the show. S1 was too slow and S2 feels too fast. Funny enough, it is accurate as far as I can tell from memory but some scenes aren't hitting as hard as I remember.

I want to give Witch another chance, the two leads seemed good, but I just don’t want Gundam to be focused on mecha duels in a school (especially if they’re always limited to 1v1 fights, that’s why I preferred Gundam Build Fighters Try over the first Build Fighters since Try had 3v3 fights while the first Build was all 1v1) and corporate politics. I’m here for war-based combat and politics generally in Gundam.

From the sounds of the opening premise I heard, it sounds like one of the leads is basically a skilled mecha duelist, but it sounds like the plot will have them quickly headed in a different direction, so it should (hopefully, at least for me) not be another mecha duel anime.

The good thing is where at the point where all the LGTVHD+ posers that this series brought in have left so people can actually talk about how mid the series was. It's not the worst series, but it's never going to land in a top 10 recommended Gundam series ever. Sadly the school aspect of the series was the best part and is swiftly abandoned for boring evil corporations are evil shit before the series realises it needs to start and end a solar system defining conflict in like 6 episodes in a 24 episode series that needed 52.

I was going to say "as least it's better than Wing" but thinking about it, I really cant. The best thing I can say about the show is that it existed.

In practice, nearly all of Try's fights boiled down to 1v1s or 3v1s. It's a common complaint about how that show felt lesser than Build Fighters.

I personally would probably not get into it. The overexposure of isekai has made me just find most of it uninteresting as a result, only Re:Zero, No Game No Life, and Konosuba were the ones I enjoyed (though I do want to check out Reincarnated as a Slime sometime).

I will watch GQuuux but... I hate that name and was super disappointed in witch from mercury. Especially with how amazing the prologue was. Dropped the show after like 8 episodes.

Also Ubel Blatt and Sakamoto days are mid. Are the mangas really that much better?

The first 5 minutes are a masterclass in character establishment (which is commonly taught in storytelling): "You want to convey the character’s inner world, outer world; both in context and in relation to the character, as well as the universal or overall worldview (the state of the world) as effective as possible"

In storytelling, as a writer, "hating" and "destroying" your protagonist must be your goal. Conquering the obstacles you throw at them is what makes a story/characters compelling, engaging, and memorable. It captures the audience's attention, and the uncertainty of success or failure hooks them

While I was watching this show, this song came to mind (which has been in my head since I listened to it)



Its brutal lyrics:

he was to die beneath her corpse
Meant to rot in a cesspit of despair,
born to die as a waste of air.

still give me the chills . It was not surprising that when I Googled the anime, it was commonly referred to as "Female Berserk".


Now, and the point I wanted to make:

In those first 5 minutes (and subsequently throughout the show), I also thought of something:
How. much. I. fucking. hate. wokeness!.

The protagonist is a woman.
She is a very strong woman, stronger than your average man for sure.
She belongs to an organization only comprised of women because they are emotionally stronger than men.
these women can't take money once they finish their work, a MAN has to come and collect the payment. Also, this organization is controlled by men who see these women as tools.

There is also a little sequence in the show where the protagonist changes her appearance to look more like a man, even using her powers to deepen her voice by enlarging her vocal cords...well, you know....its almost like she Transitioned in real time to he/him if you know what am i mean.

oh, and I almost forgot: There is a boy who is groomed by the protagonist too, she even kisses him in the mouth...pedo and trans....on brand I guess.

...this is what woke culture (in the current context) has brought to the table: a hyperfixation on gender and racial identity. Woke media and woke individuals who advocate for "representation, authenticity, and DEI" (so they say) have done serious damage to the culture. Most importantly, they have made the very people they sought to protect and help a target of ridicule and mockery at best, and at worst, disdain, antipathy, or even outright expressions of hate that are publicly tolerated because they pushed too damn hard. Sounds hyperbolic, but it’s fucking real....and beautifully ironic

It would be big enough that even the creator of the manga or the anime studio could be involved or acknowledge the situation (just like commonly happens nowadays with everything). This is an important point because "woke" as a concept isn't prevalent in Japan, especially when the manga was written/the anime produced.

Meaning: The concepts and ideas portrayed in the anime stem from a personal or individual perspective driven by storytelling, rather than being shaped by an institutionalized agenda or a cultish push of ideologies.

What is the implication?:
That something like Claymore, sure; because of its themes or aspects, it can help someone feel "seen or represented" if they so choose or need to. But the catharsis shouldn't come from seeing "wokeness" on the screen; but from the human condition portrayed on it (regardless of gender or race, obviously). This emotional connection some people can have with characters or IPs can genuinely help them in life (and I'm speaking in general). So, what happens when we have retarded media like Dragon Age: The Vailguard, and even more retarded, when people in positions of power praise it or fail to criticize it and point out its problematic nature? Or when amazing media like this very anime gets embroiled in culture wars?

Wokeness hurts everyone and everything. It creates a confrontational environment between individuals and obfuscates reality by giving value to a person based on their gender and race, rather than the qualities of their character, which is then reflected in their media/entertainment. This is why woke media is fucking shit.

The mild annoyance of being aware (some people would say "woke") of the state of woke culture and its impact on media/entertainment, and understanding that something like Claymore would be unfairly slandered, makes me yearn for the moment this culture fucking disappears, and most importantly, for the point where my mind completely forgets it ever existed.

All jokes aside I see what you're saying. Lot of that you mentioned would be considered woke and at the same time have stuff in it that's "problematic". But for me if it's not real life and is a cartoon than anything goes. It's fiction, it's a 2D drawing so for me that doesn't bother me. Let's say if for what is considered woke in that manga/anime, I don't consider it woke because it's actually well written and not preachy at all. My two cents

As for me, I'm a huge fan of the manga. I got introduced to Claymore through the anime. And the anime never adapted the full manga so I ended up just reading the manga. I hope one of these days that an anime studio fully adapt the manga. That what I want especially for Gantz and make that as uncensored as possible

you mean like only buying the episodes online to stream or physical copies? A lot of new anime released for streaming is pretty much licensed to crunchyroll/netflix.
Amazon Prime Video choices are pretty limited, you can tell alot of it is old stuff from the 90s or early 2000

Guess for those, don't see a release date. For Demon Slayer, its season 1 and 2, but after that, ufotable kind of just started releasing things in Arc format.
But the order would be Season 1 and 2, Mugen Train, Entertainment Disctrict, Swordsmith Village.

Mugen Train is kind of weird, cause it started as a movie, then they released it again in broadcast episode format with like one extra episode or something.
