Apple unveils their new VR headset LIVE @ WWDC

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
VR enthusiasts/gamers hoping Apple would make things they love mainstream through AR so more can be made should be reeling now. We aren't getting next gen Alyx or Lone Echo on this, it's just Apple's ecosystem & apps filling your space.

Don't think I'd ever use this beyond messing around for a bit. Same with other headsets I've owned. Will it be one of the nicest headsets on the market? Probably.

I say that as someone who used to work at Apple. I'll still upgrade my phone every year, because it makes sense, but even that isn't exciting anymore. They've fallen off.

"Over 5,000 patents"

Better read the fine print and what they are patenting when eye scanning logging, etc..

You know, your EyeSight.

Looks completely amazing, but I don't see how an iPad for your head is a "Pro" device. Also, that price. And how much are they charging for the Zeiss lens adapters? No mention of that.

I want one.

I don't know who is surprised about the price. We know that Apple loves to do more than their competition. That includes the price.

$3,500

I remember seeing rumors it was going to be exactly that. Lol who is buying this? I was actually pretty impressed with it but nothing will ever $3,500 impress me. Maybe some businesses will be into this? Idk man seems DOA

$3,500 is wild but so are their laptop prices and they do well. I’m curious how this turns out for them. Not interested personally but it is very impressive tech.

I have a feeling this will be a massive failure...
I don't think sales numbers is the biggest concern for Apple, I'm sure they're aware of the current volatile nature of the still maturing VR market just like the rest of us. And at that price.. They just want their foot in the door, to make sure they're not missing out the future wave. This is just an expensive learning process for them.
