TGA as usual will keep up with the controversial nominations because that boost their engagement numbers. At this point, it's done on purpose. Why they did the revelation that Elden Ring SoTE is eligible this late, because they for sure know everyone in the industry will bring the topic up and hype up the award ceremony to the high heavens.

Spider-Man, R&C, Horizon, Uncharted 4 and beyond, TLOU, GoW18 and Ragnarok all have the same cookie cutter focus tested inoffensive ass presentation and gameplay where a singular brain cell is enough to carry you through the game. In all those games, the characters will literally spell out the solution to every problem the game throws at you. The narratives are also very derivative and bogged down with similar Marvelized gotcha! one-liners without taking any risk in any stage of development. When Sony gutted its Japan studios, they lost a huge amount of diversity. Which is ironic considering how hard the former mentioned games pretend they're advocates of it. In fact, they're all differently colored trash. So yeah, saying that From Software makes the same game every time while simultaneously being a blatant Sony shill (Damn, Spider-Man, GT7, Astrobot, Helldivers II, Ratchet & Clank, Returnal, Horizon!

The game awards are just one outlet though. There are numerous game of the year awards and publications throughout the year, and PlayStation exclusives are usually in the running for the consensus total with having won nearly half of them over the past 12 years, compared to only 1 for Nintendo (breath of the Wild in 2017) and a whole lotta nothing from team Xbox:

2018 - God of War
2019 - Death Stranding (at the time a PlayStation exclusive)
2020 - The Last of Us Part 2
