I actually enjoyed the movie and felt it got better as it went on. The biggest flaw were all the scene cuts.

I do enjoy man of steel more, but this isnt a terrible film. Critics are wrong.

edit: killed like a nazi

I consider it a great quick judge of character when someone says they don't like captain america 1.

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
Falls apart in the 2nd half for me. I'd put Iron Man 1 and Batman Begins ahead of it.

Iron Man 1 and Batman Begins are both mediocre. Cap 1 is a great film and the perfect complement tonally and story wise to Winter Soldier.

If Civil War turns out great, we'll have the best superhero trilogy in existence.

Thread has been some crazy places, the craziest was calling Ironman 3 a good film. Y'all are on something. That movie was ghastly. The "twist" made me laugh out loud in a bad way.

God damn if only we had more movies as mediocre as Batman Begins...

No damn way...IM1 and BB are much, much better than Cap1. And the Nolan trilogy will be hard to top no matter how good CW is. I hope CW is great though.

Went in to see this with low expectations and enjoyed it a lot. I don't believe it deserves the hate it's getting at all. This is however from someone with no knowledge of comic books

Iron Man, Batman Begins and Captain America are probably some of the best comic book character origin stories ever. Sam Raimi's Spider-Man too.

But if Civil War is as good as Winter Soldier, then the Cap movies will be the only superhero trilogy that is of a consistently high quality across the board.

I rank TDKR ahead of Cap1, and both TDK and BB ahead of WS, so for me I disagree with that. But WS is great and CW looks great. It could be 2 out of 3 greats for me in the Cap trilogy at least.

Alright, alright, enough with the Cap 1 love. Fine, the character is well cast and portrayed. It's a great setup and it's a decent film. But y'all know comics are about action and cool poses, right? It was severely lacking in that department, and they know it. I'm sure the production was rushed, too, because they were scrambling to assemble Phase 1. That's why Winter Soldier is so different -- they had more time, resources, etc.

Joe Johnston on that next level shit.

It had that too. Just in the style of the time period. I got new age Cap for the hand to hand upgrade.

Remember when people thought Batman v. Superman was going to be a "threat" to Captain America: Civil War?

It was only box office related, which I never understood as they come out 6 weeks apart. Though if you meant a year or so ago when they shared the same release date than ok I guess, though there was never any chance that was going to stay that way.
