Batman v. Superman RT Thread: like standing ovations in rain

Cap kills bad guys in this though. He throws a dude into a plane propeller if I remember correctly.

I'm totally fine with that, but why is Snyder catching flak when Batman or Superman does the same?

Well.. CA isn't remotely anything like Batman to begin with in that regard.

Cap doesn't really have a no-kill rule. None of the MCU Avengers do, now that I think about it.

Besides not having a no-kill rule as far as I remember, it's probably because the setup and character arc of Cap is about a million times better than either Bats or Supes.

Cuz they don't kill usually, they go out of their way not to kill.

That scene in Dark Knight where Batman saves the hostages, takes out the henchman and dispatches the police squad without killing anyone is some heroic shit.

It's helped by the fact that their enemies are usually legions of non-human aliens and/or robotic constructs, with only main villains actually being sentient humans.

It's a pretty standard trope to make the good guys not have to worry about killing people.

Because war is different than vigilante justice.

Because it's an established thing in the comics that both Bats and Supes have a no-kill rule. Cap is a soldier, he's never had a problem with killing.

Chris Evans has had an extremely hard time making a decent career outside of comic stuff too and he's got more comedy chops than Cavill

some people are just destined to be average players.

They're lucky to have franchises like this and avatar to give them something to do.

Edit: man from uncle was pretty fun. Liked vikander and hammer more than Cavill tho. But all 3 were entertaining.

What? Try again please.

Snow piercer, Puncture, Sunshine.

Cap doesn't have a no-kill rule and he's also a soldier fighting in WWII.

All of the Marvel heroes kill as far as I can tell. Mahvel doesn't give a shit.

The difference is that Superman and Batman have established rules.

Haven't seen this movie yet but in MOS Superman is directly responsible for the death of I would say thousands of people, then proceeds to make out instead of you know helping the people he only maimed and might have a chance to survive

Haven't seen BvS yet, but does Batfleck ever mention that rule? Perhaps this take on the character doesn't have one.

Forgive me if I'm sounding too defensive, I just don't see the big deal about bad guys dying in action movies.

On a related note, you guys are straight trippin about Cap 1. There was way too much camp in that one. WS was great though.

I hope Civil War sucks.

It's not even about established rules. The movie heroes only kill enemy soldiers or terrorists. That's not Batman's MO. Daredevil doesn't kill either. Killing enemy combatants is very different from executing criminals on the street.

Superman usually doesn't kill because he almost never has to kill.

Marvel kill when it's necessary.

Cap killed when fighting in WWII

But watching winter soldier he just beats the shit out of people mostly. Since they are hydra, and follow a nazi type regime and are shooting innocent people, he will do what it takes to stop them. And usually gives them a chance to lay down their arms.

Same with iron man. It depends on the situation. WHen he's fighting terrorist. A guy shooting in a tank is considered warfare so he's getting a missile up the ass. But when he is in close combat he pretty much subdues peeps not kill. Same with cap.

Widow, hawkeye, thor.

He's talking about Cap 1. He throws a HYDRA goon into a propeller and they visibly turn to red mist.

He killed a bunch of dudes in the boat sequence in the beginning and in the helicarrier sequence. The ones he didn't kill probably can't walk anymore.

Don't jinx it.

I really wanted to watch Batman vs Superman. That ain't gonna happen because of mixed reviews.

I want Captain America Civil War to fill some of that void in my heart.

Civil War will be amazing, I'd bet every dime I had on this prophecy coming true.

BBs ''beginning'' was a complete ripoff from Doctor Strange's origin. So much so it rubbed me the wrong way.

That's part of why I liked Begins, I think. But old mystical mentor guy deep in the mountains isn't enough to qualify as complete ripoff imo.

I don't know how they are going to play Strange, but the thing with him is that he has to believe, because it is his only chance, but he can't, yet he'll do whatever it takes. He is broken and while looking to put himself together again opens his mind and answers the call.

Batman is just really a lost puppy who is too rich and famous to not be bailed out. He's given a way out not realizing he's being manipulated. Sure, he grows and gains some insight, remembers his morals and flees to do his own thing, but I think they play out different enough.

I really hope Strange goes all out on visuals tho. If there is one Marvel movie that needs it, this is it.

I love that Snyder took a moment to post in this thread. I can't believe that people are wondering why the Avengers, which is almost entirely composed of military members and warriors kill enemy soldiers aligned with HYDRA.

I'm really tired of supes mopy ass piano theme song. I dunno if it's necessarily the songn itself, the frequency of which it's played or me correlaying it to his relationship with Lois which I don't like at all.

wasnt the word that bvs was also testing pretty well?

if anything im more inclined to believe gunn's impressions. he was on periscope, could have just ignored the question or stayed quiet. he doesnt strike me like he would lie about that when it would have been much easier to just ignore it. but company man and all, who knows

Should I bring up the Fox and the Grapes parable again?
Based off of Winter Soldier, I have all the faith that it will be freaking amazing

No please

Speaking of Civil War, the audience of the theater where I was reacted very enthousiasticly when Spider-Man appeared at the end. When BvS ended... not so much. Very meh response on the movie.
OK, I was just kidding. There's not a single questionable thing in the trailers for Civil War and I kinda expect it to be even better than Winter Soldier at this point. Didn't know about the tracking which is awesome to hear.

I did want to see what would happen if I said it :p

I don't know what the reviewers were smoking, this was a good movie, in fact I would take this movie over anything MCU has does in recent years. In fact I'd take movie over Avengers and to me it's not even close.

And I'm not some DC fanboy, I generally prefer Marvel to DC.

If you're on the fence about seeing this due to the reviews, go see it.
