New PC gamers? Most of us on Gaf bitching about it have been gaming on PC since the 90s or 2000s. The game launched in an unacceptably poor state. Stop this shit.

The game had 40% positive reviews on the first day and every tech reviewer said it was shit. NxGamer, DF, BenchmarKing, GamingBolt, and more. This isn't the hill to die on, my guy.
I am only basing this on the benchmark mind you. beta ran like shit. benchmark was fine when I ran it after updating my cpu... uefi, drivers etc.
I don't see anything different here than let's say indiana jones. When that game went over the vram budget, it goes right down to 3fps. Devs are so shitty they have no other solution. You have to lower textures.
Seems same here. Stuttered and ran like crap until I lowered textures and shadows 1 click and then benchmark line flattened just fine.

I realize it's still a bad port but seems about as bad/good as most recently.
it's the 1 time i am kinda defending a pc game because I know that with these titles people like to overreact while playing the game on weak systems.

Really not the same. Indiana Jones is ID's tech streaming texture setting which if peoples in 2024 still don't understand how it works after every DOOM games using it, its their own dumbass self. Even setting streaming textures to medium you would have a hard time finding a freaking difference. Nothing to do with texture resolution like Monster hunter wild is trying to do here and looking like total shit while bloating VRAM. This is off to steal the title of the worst PC port from The last of us part 1 remaster which had PS3 level textures bloating up 8GB of VRAM. They eventually fixed that via patches but there's no excuses that its acceptable anytime even at day 1 of launch.

9 times out of 10 I usually expect this outcome with Japanese developers. Not in any offensive way, it’s just clear that they normally develop for consoles and/or portables in mind, first and foremost.

That is just the way it is, which is why I usually just buy their games on consoles if I am looking for a day 1 experience.

This shit and from software games suck on all platforms. All THREE Elden Ring games have terrible performance on consoles. MHW looks like crap on standard PS5 and SX (vast majority of console users) and even worse on SS. Only Pro version and high end PC versions are worth playing.

And yet: 10/10 - best game ever! Game critics are beyond any hope...

The Beta character creator looked like garbage and I turned it off. Same with Avowed. Seriously don’t know how people manage when we have beautiful cross gen games, and now everything looks fuzzy and melting.

Gotta love those 5 miles enum values. It might be possible that it defaults to that one internally if not present or if invalid but it might open the doors for people to try different values to make it work better for their own systems.

Don't forget Koei Tecmo and Konami's spotty PC releases over the years. KT was notorious, the entire last generation, for almost all of their PC ports being a coin flip in quality.

I could be wrong, but I think only Sega took PC seriously at the very beginning when they started moving games over.

Thers something wrong with the PS5 Pro version then cuz im in that area in the screenshot playing on a base PS5 and the game looks pretty good. My guess is Ray Tracing is messing things up as the Base PS5 version in balance mode dosent use Ray Tracing.

17h of gameplay (Balanced Mode) and still hasent seen any problems with textures streaming on my base PS5. (Performance mode has some agressive pop-ins in some areas though)

I told the same thing to a friend and his response was: "This is a multi-player game, though, of course it's tougher to run"

They’ve been saying that for years now. I’m sure they rushed this out for some fiscal year nonsense, and they will fix it over time but this attitude will eventually catch up with them. Things like this permanently hurt your reputation.
It will certainly have a negative effect on pre-orders for their new games in general.

Much like I hope it will do to CDPR’s next game after Cyberpunk’s disastrous launch.

lol thats actually hilarious. But anyone who's an actually gamer likely knew this game had performance issues before buying it. Stop buying shit day 1 if you arent certain its a good product.

1 million concurrent MHWild players on Steam, probably 6-7 million units sold already. Capcom already got rewarded with gamers' money.

Nah not just game critics, the fans are conditioned to buy it regardless if its good or not.

There has to be a bug with the lod of textures, they pop in and out of higher resolution textures when you're standing next to them and in cutscenes lol

This is high textures and 8x texture filter (I have not installed the DLC Highest textures). This may be a bug but it's not pop in, the rocks never improved. Many areas in the oil well basin look like this for me. This game is a joke visually. I'm getting 40-70 FPS during gameplay, with dips / hitches as low as 20-30 FPS on asset load. Usually maintain 55-60ish which is playable.

For reference: I've got a 3070 Ti (Latest driver), Ryzen 7 9800x3D (Sufficiently cooled), x870 chipset, 64 GB DDR5 (6400 Mhz), 4TB Samsung 990 Pro, 1440p Monitor (165 Hz - G-sync). This is basically a 2 week old build and all top tier components except for the video card which I plan to upgrade when the nvidia cards stablize. The game is default settings mostly high, with a few medium settings, and FSR (Had also tried DLSS and was testing FSR out. Performance is about the same.)

It's not a problem about PC gaming itself, but about hoe companies like Denuvo use scare tactics to make gaming companies license their software.

Yep. With a peak of nearly 1.4M players, it’s highly likely the PC version is the most popular one by a significant margin. This is how Capcom repays them.

im winning here.
Playing the game on ps5 pro performance mode for days now. Sure resolution is worse than a mid to high end gaming PC but performance mode is very stable and I did not encounter any issue. im on chapter 3 now.

We can all win if we accept low standards. I wouldn’t qualify playing at 1080p with "soft IQ" on a system I paid $700 for as winning any more than I would playing at 1440p with questionable frame rates on a 4090. There’s another poster saying he has no problem playing at 1440p DLSS performance and 30-40fps. He must be winning too.

Surely, you didn’t buy a Pro to play with such image quality, did you?

The game peaked at almost 1.4M and is at 1.3M as of right now. It will likely reach 1.4M later today, potentially 1.5M.

Broken games aren’t stopping my guy. People buy anyway. Look at PC gamers who supposedly have higher standards. They’re probably the largest group playing this game, yet arguably suffer the most from its dodgy quality. That ship has sailed.
