That's nice but 1 year ago Microsoft was doomed according to this forum.

This industry changes quickly and is going to reinvent. Sony needs to watch out. They are making the mistakes Microsoft already made.
Except they aren’t?

Your commentary on this topic is way off base. Have you not read a single thread on Microsoft’s strategy and performance? Are you new to gaming?

Microsoft spent $70b for a 2% increase in games and services revenue and double digit decreases in hardware sales. This compared to Sony who is outpacing sales of the PS4 (their second most successful console) and are increasing in nearly every other metric.

Sony has also won every generation of home console they have participated in with the exception of the PS3 where they took 2nd place. Seems like they are doing just fine, in spite of your doom and gloom.

Right.....

Xbox is a trillion dollar corpo now /S

Fuck me indeed.

Holy shit dude. What's wrong with you? Let me rephrase like I would to a 5 year old. The trillion dollar corporation that owns the xbox division got humbled by the smaller Japanese companies. One of them which is called Nintendo and the other which is called Sony, that owns the playstation division. Fucking hell, my brain hurts from your stupidity. How do you get anything done in life?

MS will have to start operating like they did in X360 days. Build a perception that its a must have hardware, all that stuff.

People will get system no problem.

They all will survive without each other.
The 360 finished in last place when the Xbox brand was on an upward swing. Nobody gives a shit about Xbox hardware and that isn’t going to change.

Hardware, regardless of the lies of Phill, is not important to the future of the Xbox strategy. Their entire “This is an Xbox” campaign is all the proof you need.

Fuck me, use your brain! I'm obviously talking about the microsoft xbox division. You damn right we're done if you couldnt even figure that out! Twitter is more suited to you. Go there.

Where did i say xbox? Holy shit dude. What's wrong with you?

Since when is xbox a corporation? Its owned by Microsoft! You think it funds itself? I'm done. Your clearly 12 years old and lack basic understanding. Im laughing my ass off right now. Can't believe someone can be this dumb. Its MICROSOFT xbox my guy! They're one and the same! You need someone to specify that for you? LMAO I'm actually baffled right now! Please tell me your drunk or something because there's no way you can be that dumb. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are. Sober up!

Microsoft has done a lot of damage to the Xbox brand for more than 10 years and now they're putting their games on other consoles.

What's the selling point for the next-gen hardware?

They started the generation with a competitive marketing approach.

- All Bethesda games launching day one on Game Pass.
- The most powerful console in the world.
- The cheapest console in the world.
- The announcement of Activision Blizzard.

During the 360 era, Microsoft was aggressive with big exclusive games and the cheapest console on the market. Sony was struggling to sell their $500 - $600 console.

At this point, Microsoft will try to keep its existing consumers in the ecosystem and they're giving up on being competitive in the console/hardware market.

Microsoft will never regain mindshare. The masses ain't even aware of the existence of xbox anymore.

In retail, when the mass market sees the likes of Master Chief and Marcus Fenix on “PS5” branded game cases while the Xbox section is difficult to find, if there at all, then that will be the case.

That will be the reality before this year is out.

This is exactly why allowing them to buy ABK was a mistake. A platform provider should not be number one publisher at the same time.

People outside of the Xbox fanbase don't even care about Master Chief and Marcus Fenix.

Even on PS it'd be mostly former Xbox-fans who'll buy those games and they're a minority.

That is how irrelevant Xbox has become.

The casual gamer who doesn’t follow the news and just buys the odd game will still recognise that Halo is (was) an Xbox thing, and they’ll be very surprised when they see this in the shops…

Recognizing and caring are two different things though.

If people cared, Xbox wouldn't be in this situation. Time will tell though.
We're basically at the point where Halo and Gears on PS is a reality.

Bollocks.

I’m willing to bet a released Halo MCC on PS will sell more than Astrobot did.

I wouldn't call myself a fan of Xbox or any console, but if Halo MCC comes to Switch 2 as rumored, then I'll be buying that day one.

I think a lot of people would dip into Halo on Switch 2/PS5. Especially if they've haven't played it before.

Fair enough.

But people need to read what I said, because I never said there isn't an audience for those games, even among core PS installbase.

Edit:

Same goes for Switch/Nintendo, btw.

Sony should put alot of stake not only into kadokawa which they are doing now but should also but alot of stake into EA Games still be multiplatform but with soccer/football and apex and MOH and battlefield I'm sure they can not only they can probably get there money back but bring back some decent ips

Remake of Red Alert 2
Remake of Classic Road Rash
Battlefield
Battlefield based on killzone
Remake MoH allied assault with all expansions and modes

Would love if that happen sitting on a gold mine tbh

The bigger they get on the back of PlayStation the more dependent they are on PlayStation. Just like every other third party publisher.
Nope they both need each other at that point. You think playstation wouldn't be hurt if the equivalent of all ea, take2, and ubi soft and more all disappeared all of a sudden?

Interesting that 64% is on ps5. Means PC isn’t as big as people try to say. Because all of PC plus Xbox is only 36% of the sales and all the Xbox titles are on pc and not on PS5.
One very undiscussed reason for PC being a big market for publishers is the presence of keysites like Humble or Fanatical. And I think its the reason for this disparity.

These sites function as a sort of gamestop for PC game keys and they buy keys in large quantities from these publishers (likely under a retail agreement). How else do you explain the way GMG or Fanatical get those preorder discounts happening?

This is also why Steam CCUs are not a good indicator for the revenue a publisher got out of a paid title for a game's launch, because they likely sold thousands of keys to these sites far before launch.

There will be a growing interdependence. I'll agree with you there.
