Do you not realize the extent of Mattrick screwed up? He did irreparable damage to the Xbox brand. Everyone that was around for the XBone reveal and that E3 still trots out the “we have a device for that, Xbox 360” meme, as well as Sony’s game sharing layup like it happened yesterday. He is by far the worst thing that has happened in Xbox history.

I would have thought everybody would have come to the conclusion by now.
If, somehow, he was still in charge, I believe he would have learned from thier miss-steps with the Xbox One launch and Xbox would have recovered.
Instead, they got reactionary and put the worst possible candidate in charge that has ultimately condemned them to becoming a third-party publisher instead of the market leader as they were during much of the 360 generation.

Agreed. Also with Mattrick he believed in building a console base and delivered more games than Phil ever had. Xbox One launched with a pretty good amount of games and he even was on record as saying they wanted to sell 100 million Xbox One consoles. Unlike Phil who has made the console irrelevant and destroyed the brand.

Some people here can be utterly despicable. Good for him that he's working in the board of directors at a place like that.
Also, we all sometimes fail hard at some extremely dumb tasks on our low-stakes jobs. If making a bad decision should make someone unemployed forever, no one here should have jobs.

One failure led to another, though. I think they're both responsible for the Xbox One fiasco, and that goes for a lot of other senior people as well. Mattrick has been blamed entirely for what happened, while everyone else escaped. Yes, he was in charge, but I can't believe no one else in the team agreed that this was the path they should take.
