Don't it just.
I blame Hugo 😂

The colour palette is nice enough, the weapon designs look nice, and visually it’s good enough, but everything else is underwhelming.

This is the first real look at it so maybe when we see pro player gameplay it will look more fun but this showing did nothing but increase my scepticism.

Right!?

The lore is dreadful anyway. Just make me feel vulnerable, give me a shitload of guns, let me lay waste to demons, and make me run back through the level to find health pickups I didn’t need earlier after I get my shit rocked.
Yeah I don't know what were they smoking while working on the nu-lore.

I don't care about it either, all I want is lots of violence and guns and metal music. It would be nice if they improved on the level design and make it more maze like, Eternal was a bit too linear as was '16 for the most part. But if the gameplay and music are as great as in the previous ones, which I have no doubt they'll be, then I'm in.

this doom lore is stupid as fuck.

doom 1 and 2 said it.
2016 doom also said it.

this is not doom it's people not wanting to invest in new IP's

I wonder if the recommended target for 1440p/60fps is with ray tracing enabled. I have a 3080ti, 12700k, 32gm ram and am hoping to get more fps than this at high/ultra since I game on an ultrawide 3440*1440, I would gladly turn RT off to achieve this. Time will tell...

I think, like Indy, all specs are with RT enabled in mind.

It being id Tech I'd assume that it runs like a dream and that those requirements are with RTX set on.

This is like Indiana Jones

RT is required, there's no turning off.

Like Indiana Jones

Path tracing was harder, but still better than anything else out there with path tracing in performances, but RT was easy to run. You basically just need the anything RTX or RDNA 2 and above.

What problems specifically?

Eternal was okay, but extremely limited in how you played. Doom 2016 was way better imo.
Points that I'm sure have been discussed before.

Doom Eternal requires way too much movement thinking and aiming. You stop and you die. You must dodge and execute Marauders perfectly. Too much mechanics going on, ammo conservation, aim skill, quick map navigation.

You jump and run while dodging and shooting all over the the map which by players fault surely can kill you with small side step.

Doom'16 pace was just right.
I couldn't even finish Eternal on the twin Marauder and dogs inside the small room part. Just called it quits, way too much skill required to be fun for me.

Oh no, not thinking! I loved the game and its complexities. Both were great in their own way. Beat the shit out of both on nightmare.

Really stoked for this. But I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty bummed that there's no multiplayer whatsoever. It feels like they really dropped the ball across all the new games in that regard, lol.

2016's wasn't too bad, but it wasn't in-house and kind of suffered from an identity disorder. Eternal's WAS in-house, but they did some silly asymmetrical stuff that really didn't take off. They claimed they wanted to not do anything deathmatch-like cause they were worried it'd take away Quake Champions' spotlight, LOL. So, this will have no multiplayer at all. No big deal, still hyped, and will still love it.

I just wish that with each iteration of DOOM we could continue to get co-op and multiplayer. I remember being so hyped that 2016 felt like the first full AAA FPS title that wasn't a COD game in YEARS.

Doom Lore geeks help me out:

In the Original Doom it was just a Marine who was going apeshit on the demons

What is canon? I remember in Doom 3 Hell was opened due to Transportation technology that went wrong

In Doom 2016 It was Due to the need to find resources and they found a way to get to the hell Relm to acquire some kind of Never ending energy stones or some shitbecause they were close to depleted in the solar system.

What is the Doom canon storyline?

The Marine in Doom 1 and 2 is one and the same Marine that is the Doom Slayer in 2016 and Eternal. Doom 3 doesn't count as canon and is more like a multiverse story. The conclusion of Doom 64 is where Doom the Dark Ages picks up. The ending to Doom 64 ends with the Doom Marine getting trapped in the realms of Hell, mostly by choice to keep the demons from invading earth again. Doom Eternal gives the most hints of what happened here but basically he found himself in the Sentinel homeworld of Argent D'Nur where he is captured, became a prisoner and forced into Gladiatorial Battles with the Seraphim. He was such a badass that the Night Sentinels put him on the front lines waging war against the forces of hell. He has earned the title Doom Slayer and is given powers through Mayker Tech. Dark Ages basically explains the story of his exploits with the Sentinels until he is tricked by Demons and sealed away into saprophagous which as you can see from Doom 2016 finds its way back to Mars and begins the events of Doom 2016.

I hate that instead on going faster and stronger it looks like they went slower and more heavy. I blame the complaints on the difficulty of Eternal DLC pre nerf.

I dunno this looks so mhe that I'm kinda worried.

No Deathmatch for DOOM for me would not be greenlit, make it old school DOOM limited but not having multiplayer in the game that invented the Deathmatch is a bit of an insult to its legacy :p.

Complete opposite of what I wanted. It looked slow. I’ll immediately miss the speed of DOOM 2016 and Eternal’s verticality. Tank feel is easily the worst style they could do for my tastes.
I hope that if you raise the gameplay speed it does not influence too much the enemy projectiles. I like this rebalancing.

The problem is not player movement speed, but the emphasis on blocking, parring, and melee attacks 1vs1 that might slow the game down.

Microsoft and their shitty pricing trying to force gamepass subs. They did this before with their games, last 1 was Indiana Jones and that was quite expensive too on Steam.

I ain't paying £70 for it, but it is about £50 on cdkeys, which is still a bit higher than normal, but saving ~£20 is nice. The premium edition is about £70, the same price as the standard edition on Steam. There's no multiplayer, not that I personally played much of it, but less content at a way higher price always sucks. Oh look, 2 days early access.....fuck off with that shit too.

I am genuinely looking forward to it, though. Love Doom and the last 2 modern ones. Really hope their reputation of having polished smooth performance holds up too.

3070 am cry

Definitely going to need to upgrade this year or switch to GeForce Now

I don’t need ultra settings but I want High / 60fps minimum at 1440p on my games

Ridiculous that due to VRAM limitation I’ll probably get something stupid like 200 fps on low

Just watched it. Things I don't like:
  • 80€ (lol)
  • Denuvo (lmao)
  • Some high-contrast colors that I think look bad. For example, just at the start of the video the shield emits a green wave and the demon (Baron?) also emits a lot of green stuff. That sucks.
Things I like:
  • The music.
  • Everything really.
Anyway, here are some new pics from the Steam store:

They turned the pinkies into a mount for the enemies? Not complaining, kinda genious even.
On steam the game is priced £70

Wtf?

Most new PC games are priced £50 max here.

Why are you so negative? Question is specifically referring to your very first post in this thread.

Its negative.
I'm not so negative. Just giving my impression. People put too much weight to my posts.
Have you seen his username?
Wonder why I picked the username, given that people tend to get butthurt over my posts. 🤔

People care way too much about random people's opinions.

Looks amazing. I really dig the minimalistic HUD with the small face at the bottom, looking around like it did in the original Doom. :messenger_beaming:

Textual replies differ in intent from contextual (oral) ones. If your intent is different from what you write, then there is a mismatch.

However:

This implies you are aware of that, which is why you chose the name you chose.

In that case, why are you surprised you ger called out then?

Im glad you value yourself accordingly.

Just watched the trailer and this is so much more my speed. I’ll take the stand your ground and fight style over the jumping around shit, anyday.

Textual replies can be exactly the same as oral replies. The only difference is the lack of non-verbal communication.
So it doesn't automatically mean there is a difference in intent.

And yes, I'm aware that there are people who interpret intentions differently, hence why I'm already aware that there will always be people that take things the wrong way.

So my name is just me embracing the situation.
How people interpret that is not my concern.
Im glad you value yourself accordingly.
I'm not any different from anybody else.
