It's one thing to get upset and refuse to buy a game based off a completely egregious issue with a game, like a Black samurai killing Japanese people in an Edo period AC game that nobody wanted; after fans have been asking for a Japanese set AC game for decades.
But it's completely another thing to swear off a game based on a 4 minute trailer of an admittedly overly masculine female character model that does In fact seem to present a trend for the game's creator; despite the fact of the creator literally never shipping a game that didn't absolutely kill it critically and commercially.
The former is completely reasonable. The latter is not.
I dislike the main character of their new game. I acknowledge Druckman is woke AF (anyone who cites Feminist Frequency as an inspiration is). But none of Druckman and ND's games have been woke propaganda.
Woke propaganda is what I'm sick to death of. Shit like Veilguard, Suicide Squad, Concord and Spider-Man 2 are woke propaganda or at least in the latter case include it.
As a visible minority myself I'm sick to death of forced diversity. But forced diversity means tokenized characters that are wafer thin with no depth and are poorly written... That simply doesn't describe a single ND game to date. Why would I expect this one to be any different?
People need to relax and judge the game on its own merit when they see more of it. Just like Veilguard, if it's woke propaganda, even woke journos won't be able to hide it. If it's not though, many of you are gonna feel like fucking idiots for going nuts over this 4 minutes teaser when the game ends up being incredible.
And I really hope it does. Not because it will own the nerds on Gaf. But because very few western devs that make top tier games have managed to stave off capture from the woke activist retards in the industry. Despite Druckman's wokeness, ND have managed to reign him in enough to deliver some of the best games ever. I hope they continue that trend.

It's DEI and entirely the prerogative of the creator to make those kinds of creative choices. But it was neither central to the main story and thus wasn't shoved in the face of the player.

Uncharted 4 and TLOU2 were better games than the vast majority of games made in the industry.
You can simultaneously dislike a discrete aspect of a game and criticise it, while also appreciating a game overall. Therefore, wait and see at least for the previews for Intergalactic before casting judgement. Anything else is puerile, knee-jerk bandwagoning.
Uncharted didn't hook me cause I was late, TLOU was perfect for me, jack and crash was my type back in 5th/6th gen, overall, ND on par with R* without the flopping part, I still think R* could get back on track.

I view them as a complete failure to create a 'strong' female character via writing alone. When all else fails and you urgently need to project strength in a script that's been worked on for 4 years with a lack of writing talent - add some big muscles.

This almost borders on concern trolling.
I think it's good that people are reacting, even if there might be an oversensitiveness at times. There's no need for people to censor their own emotions as the wokeness plagtue has been so pervasive for many years now without gamers voicing much opposition. But the ideologues in the gaming and movie industry have kept pushing their positions ever forward and now people are actually realizing what's happening. I will personally not tolerate any more wokeness in my entertainment that I spend money on. Studios have every right to do exactly the kind of games that they want, but gamers do also have every right to voice their opinions and shed light on what's going on and not support these studios economically.
Facts, logic and reason were not the tactics woke people used at least since 2015 and they kept growing their numbers and infiltrated institutions. They were merely vocal about their opinions and people didn't care enough to oppose them on the subjects so there was this weird misunderstanding among "people" that their ideology was accepted by the majority. What we're seeing especially now is that the majority rejects wokeness so I think it's good to just push on and force that woke ideology back to the murky little corner it originated from. It's poisonous and has done nothing for race relations for example, rather the opposite. It is rightfully being ridiculed and shamed for the trash it is. Expecting us to "wait and see" might have been reasonable ten years ago, but we've clearly seen the patterns over and over again so I won't wait before I judge a game. If a studio shows a trailer of something then they are clearly showing it to offer an appetizer of the game. So now is not the time to be afraid to be vocal about one's opinions on the gaming industry.

I just checked and the only game he was involved with I ever played was that first Last of Us game on PS3. It was OK but not my style of game and I never had interest in anything else he did.

Even if it was referring to a boy/girl thing, I'd still question the logic behind it being included.
Now having this included isn't woke, it's a cool detail which should be included...
Except the outbreak happened years before this sort of thing actually existed, so theoretically all this and the flags wouldn't have been on display like it was in the game.
And this isn't the only thing that took me out of the game because the world that was left behind felt more recent then the one in TLOUPT1.
The consistency is fuck up by crap that shouldn't be there but they had to include it.

I said the game had TLOU momentum which frizzled out once people learnt about the game.
Which happened about the same time ND stopped giving numbers while other PS Studios was celebrating their 10/15/20 in the same period or less and ND just isn't posting it's milestones for TLOU2, but did for TLOU and the Series as a whole which kinda pointed to TLOU2 still being at about 10mil still.
But yeah TLOU2 had the originals momentum
Their new game won't have this and so we will see.

I understand the different direction between the two and they both are needed for the medium to progress and mature.

Don't forget the character is "played" by a black girl that has 25% asian in her (75% black heritage, 25% Asian. So not only is actress' gender a "minority" but so is her race. Combine that with everything else and it's obvious what ND are doing.

Problem is Alyx is from Half Life 2 and that game is from 2004 way before the age of DEI, critical race theory and modern woke.
She wasn't a main character until 2020 though. Tati was also in the uncharted movie before as a pretty good antagonist and is likely why she was hired for the role in Intergalactic. Not your idea that she's a mixed race female like Alyx for DEI points. Valve also got SBI in for Dota so... whatever floats your boat about the "modern age of DEI" goes it seems.

I think Colin is a great commentator but there are two things his love for ND and Playstation make him incapable of even beginning to fathom on this topic:
1. A lot of people who played TLOUII didn't think it was a very good video game.
2. ND takes way too long to ship games since after UC4.
For a lot of people, they missed with their last game which means they haven’t delivered anything since 2016 and since Druckmann has had full control. Loved ND but what have they done for me lately?

The thing is, I've seen enough of Neil Druckmann's work to know how he operates. So if within the 4 minute trailer I'm seeing elements that are a staple of Neil's, it's enough to make me swear off the game.
It's like watching all of Michael Bay's movies, seeing a new trailer of his that features young hot women and explosions, and thinking to yourself "well you can't expect the next Michael Bay film to have dumb action and gratuitous shots of hot women based on a 3 minute trailer."

Neil said it was profitable day one and two years later he said it was extremely successful.
3 years ago, people on this forum said the game underperformed because they didn't give us another sales upset. So what happened after they gave us another sales update? You guys STILL said it underperformed.
- We only got 1 sales update from Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. We didn't find out until the leaks that the game was profitable and Insomniac was happy with the sales.
- Guerrilla Games updated us once with 8.4 million sales for Horizon Forbidden West.
- We only get an entire series update from Polyphony Digital.
They could give us another sales update in a week and you guys are going to continue with the same narratives. lol

It sold an additional 2.44 million digital copies as of June 2023.
That's 12 million WITHOUT counting Physical sales from Jan/Feb 2022-June 2023 and all of the sales from July 2023 until now.

Had not seen the Intergalactic trailer. This little controversy made me check it out. I think it looks really cool. They really went with an 80s vibe on this one. When she accelerates with her ship with the music blasting I nearly lost my shit.
I have no problem with the main character. We know next to nothing about her, just what she looks like. Can't wait to find out more about the game.

If they report 15mil, then that's that, if it reports 20mil then it's on par with the original.

What people are saying is that despite the 10mil milestone it hasn't been as successful as the original and the lack of they reporting an official press release number supports that vs assuming it has just because.

It was £9.99 like one to 1.5 years after launch at GAME in the UK. That's the most extortionate store in the uk.

It took 10 years to reach over 25 million copies sold, and you believe it should be as successful as the original in 4 years. Let's not forget The Last of Us Part was bundled for more than 5 years which significantly boosted sales AND it was re-released in 2022.
God of War Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 are among the best sellers and they're NOT as successful as Spider-Man and God of War 2018.
No, you said the lack of reporting supports your claim that it hasn't reached a specific milestone, which has been debunked multiple times. We have enough evidence that would suggest the numbers are more than likely past 15 million than close to 10 million as you claimed earlier.
