Dustborne Thread Games Update: 'We have zero tolerance for hate speech'

Uh....but they are not. If a game is refunded then it is says so in the review. Like this, from a concord review....

I'm not seeing any refunded games with Dustborn and there are only 35 negative reviews total so easy to scan all of them. Dumbass is just contriving bullshit drama out of thin air. But any excuse to call people who disagree with your politics "bigots" I guess.
No, “the bigots” are even more diabolical. They buy the game , negatively review it, but DO NOT refund it so they can’t be caught in their lies!

Well, $1.5+ came from gov subsidy. So it really depends how many people they employees and what were the other sources of the investment.

The game is clearly a dud of course. Since the audience they are targeting doesn’t actually buy video games.

From what I can gather, this studio has 36 workers and this game was developed in about 4 years.
I'm not sure how much a dev costs in Oslo, but 1.5M+150.000 in subsidies, are probably not enough to cover the development cost.

This is like their last ditch attempt at any kind of publicity. Accuse people of hate speech and maybe they'll get a few more people to play their trash game.
Talking back to customers (gamers) in a disrespective way is a very tech/gaming/media kind of thing. The industry is full of egotistical people who think they because they can make a movie or use Unreal engine to make a game they are gods.

In other industries when a company makes a shit product or fucks up somehow and customers are pissed, how many times have you seen company PR or a random angry employee from a bank, food company, big box store, car company, sports team, etc.... ever smack talk back or blame the customer?

The only time you get it from these places is maybe a similar egotistical pro athlete goes off on his own on Twitter and causes a stir. But you wont get that from a head office employee.

Yeah no.

These wokies throw arounds words like Hate way too liberally. In their vacuum its probably people with legit criticism about this game. The rest doesn't even care about it to begin with.
It’s because these wokies are mostly hateful angry people. Any little inkling of not liking them or what they represent becomes an instant target to them. Hate speech and bigots are some of their favorite words among others.

the thing is, their 'target demographic' - 'woke video game players' - either doesn't, in actuality, even exist, or exists in numbers so miniscule that they're basically not even worth targeting...
Yeah. Someone shared that 17% of gamers are LGBTQIA+ based on a survey from activists (which makes it not some even remotely credible). If that number were actually accurate, either Concord and Dustborn aren't the type of games they play, or those games are so incredibly terrible that even the intended audience avoids them. But I’m with you ... it's likely just miniscule. The LGBTQIA+ community seems more interested in making a bunch of noise about modern games than actually buying them. Their loudness gives the illusion that they're a larger group of gamers than they are. And none of their screaming and whining has gotten any games canceled.

Companies are learning the hard way that catering to your largest demographic is how business works (that's how businesses have always worked), not pandering to a vocal minority.

It's a shame that this was the byproduct of the guy that brought us the longest journey and the secret world. I had a good bit of respect for the dude until this.

What a clown.

Nothing says "I value free speech and the opinions of others who may not like our game" like blocking replies so no one can respond. Typical of the woke DEI crowd. Any criticism of their work equals "hate speech". Dustborn can sit in the dustbin of history along with Concord and every other agenda-first, gameplay-second game.

I can't think of a single time when a dev blamed the audience for a failing game that actually turned things around. If anything, it made the stigma worse for the game and their studio.

I guess this must be therapy for them. Time to get another government grant on fluff and bullshit to keep the lights on.

The irony is too much and one of the reasons I feel we're being played fools.

It's not irony; it's hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness. Those are standard features of the woke.

No one in their right mind designs, makes, play tests and gets the green light to release such an abomination against common sense. It's too on the nose

I don't buy it.

Dustborn isn't your normal game. It didn't go through a standard process where it had normal questions asked of it (e.g., "Will people like this? Will it find a big enough audience to make it a success?"). It is a DEI project, funded by the government. The developers were paid a million+ by the government to produce the game. It is a game consciously intended to promote identity politics, and it was subsidized by the government to do exactly that.

A crappy Woke game... A boring imitation of Hi-fi rush... Without carisma
I thought it was more like a Life is Strange with some beat em up sequences tossed in, no?

It does feel like a lot of people want to have opinions on this game without seeing or playing much of it. It has a demo.

I think the screenshots/clips I've seen of this game speak for themselves.
I'm not wasting my unlimited bandwith or storage space to try the demo.
