Does that foamy ramune bottle remind you of anything?

Maaaaan, if Shinkai made Eroge he'd make Yosuga no Sora. Except with like, one girl.

Anyone watching Iron Man besides me? This show is great. Seriously. A top 3 show of the season easily.

Wolverine just made an awesome cameo in episode 4.

Only watched the first episode. Does it actually get better?

I think his sister is supposed to be a bit of a yandere, or that's the impression I got when I talked to VN players.

Nice bike ending.

no. but will soon. these otaku-GAF have a subjective understanding of what's a good/bad anime. if you like it, you like it. if you don't, whatever. everyone's opinion aren't the same.

The first episode was crap. It definitely gets better. It reminded me of the same excitement and enjoyment that I got watching Saturday morning super hero cartoons in grade school.

Yosuga no Sora:

Doing it with pants on = fail. Not that I want to see a guy's ass.

The non existent animation in Princess Lover OVA wasn't enough to put me off. Sylvie is too much of a Saber clone for me to stop watching.
Still, it was disappointing. With real animation it could have been SO much more! Even if it was just 3 sex scenes in which we learn that our man Arima is actually a rapist while Sylvie is sort of a M type.
I'm not quite clear if the maid servicing Arima is part of Sylvie's fantasy or Teppei's memories, but that doesn't really matter.

Time to watch the second OVA and find out if it'll be another girl or if the "story" will keep focusing on Sylvie!

I'd argue the aural element in sex is as important as the visual one.
Well yes a good atmosphere can enhance things but proper visuals are important as well for it's purpose at least. Having terrible animation can really kill the mood in something that would be otherwise good.

Why wouldn't they? It takes away greatly from the experience since porn is pretty much all visuals.
Maybe it's just my knee-jerk reaction to hyperbole. I won't say it's great, but Terrible might be taking it too far compared to many recent productions.

MAG Net makes me want to get better at Japanese so I could translate the stuff these guys are saying for other people. Takeshi Koike is going into some detail about why he chose cels over CG, including drawing on a cel right on camera and describing whatever it is he's doing.

It's about as bad as older productions I had seen a while back and I've seen a lot better recent efforts elsewhere. Considering it's an OVA and coming off something with an existing anime adaption I figured it'd be handled a bit better.

Hopefully it will wash the horrible taste of that other magical girl show that's about a dude on a robot or something.

Why was the Cantonese dub funny, care to explain?

I can't speak for Deadly, but for me it was just totally unexpected. I knew that TVB was dubbing some shows - FMA:B for one - but a dub of K-On just came out of the blue. Some of the localizations they did were amusing as well... I still like that they figured out a way to port moe over for example.

Man, this show is boring most of the time. The best bits about it for me are the opening, because of it's style and color, and the transformation sequence. The rest ranges from amusingly silly to downright boring and annoying.

I've had more fun in two episodes of Heartcatch Precure than everything else that I have seen since, shit, 2008?

What the hell happened to anime than was just fun for the sake of being fun?

Oh, his main concern was clearly trying to stir up a war between the cell/CG fanbase's.

Star Driver 01 - Pretty bad show, but a few bits of it were entertaining... not sure if I'll watch much more of this one, but I'll probably watch the next episode at least. I mean, it's bad, but it might be amusing bad anyway, for a little while anyway. I guess that partially depends on how seriously they take it, hopefully not too much because humor's the main thing the show has going for it...

Samurai Girls 04 - Huh, that's interesting, so any of the girls turn into a master samurai if Muneakira kisses them... it's one of the only times ever in anime where a girl hyperventilating about the idea of kissing a guy for almost an entire episode is actually justified, considering what happens when Yuki finally kisses him. :)

Still though, that Yuki finds the idea of kissing him very embarrassing, but has much less of a problem of getting into a bath with him, is funny. Sure, you could say "cultural differences", but he was embarrassed, and in the first episode she threw stuff at him when he walked in on her changing... of course that was just her tsundere way of showing that she liked him, but still, all other things aside it is funny. Yes, I know that through almost all of the actual Tokugawa period mixed bathing was completely normal. That fact doesn't show up often in anime, and the version of it here isn't exactly that (beyond the fact that it's actually supposedly set in an alternate present, not the 19th century)... she just doesn't seem to care, and instead all of her worry is about the kiss. At least it isn't 100% for fanservice though, as I said, just like 95%; she wasn't wanting to kiss him just becasue she liked him, but to test the theory that any of them who kissed him would get the Master Samurai powers the one girl who kissed him got.
Well, she did get them... except without a personality change or much control over the powers, unlike Jubei. More comedy ensued.

Basically, it's amusing to see the lengths Japan will go to to come up with even more fanservice, and their amazing obsession with the kiss... :lol (And yes, of course I know that the kiss in anime/manga/etc. is a stand-in for sex, basically. Doesn't make it much less funny, really.)

So yeah, pretty stupid show, and very full of fanservice, but just amusing enough to watch, so far anyway.

Just reread "Eden, It's An Endless World!" recently and I kind of want to see it adapted into an anime.
It's kind of a huge monster though. And certainly not marketable for TV consumption because it's horrifically bleak and violent.

Then again, an anime adaptation could certainly help give the story some focus and direction. Just hand it back to Madhouse in the 90's and have them do like a 10 part OVA or something.

This show is amazingly bad. I forget the lead male's name, but he seemed like a slightly assertive alright kind of dude but is now clearly, or has been turned to, a complete tool, all the shit spouted off in the first episode about will and shit was for naught it seems as he seems to want nothing more than to be walked over, by everyone and anyone.

That said
the Yukimara girl going crazy with wind powers was ridiculously stupid. Ok, first swipe I get but Jesus, just let yourself fall already or drop the God damn fans when trying to balance yourself, fucking Christ. You're only like 4 feet tall don't fear the ground!!!!!

And the story, man is it worse than I originally thought, this is the type of shit I'll watch to rage on, I knew it would be like this but I didn't know just how much like this it would be. The stupid Princess Girl doesn't want anyone else kissing the guy so she makes them all move in, what the fuck? This isn't high school level stupidity anymore, this is something worse. Just cast them out if you fucking care that much. Damn.

And like all fan-service anime it's nice
, idiotic actually,
how all the Samurai are women, how convenient for your harem fan service plot, it only makes sense that all the Master Samurai would be women because there were always so many female samurai in the past right? This kind of shit is always so stupid, just like TWGOK, the souls only enter women, again how convenient, wouldn't want Keima having to kiss a man now would we? But it's even more convenient that all the lost souls
and Goddesses
will end up in his little Japanese town! Imagine that. Why wouldn't they after all?

When you get to the part where the stupid silver haired girl shows up, don't worry, she's an unimportant side character and her time is thankfully brief so don't drop it there.

I still think the 'villains' got a cooler ending than the 'heroes'.

Ironman 4 : Remember when animators could draw planes? And cars? (Not counting the presence of Redline, of course.

The heroes ending was just another 4th wall breaking gag. The villains actually got a legitimate end after substantial character development and build up to make them sympathetic. Akai really evolved as an antagonist and I'd almost go so far as to say he was the star of the show if not for that damn keyblade master.

Sure, yes, it's stupid. Still though, it's better than most of the rest of the shows this mediocre season... here would be my ranking at the moment, I guess. (most to least liked, in order)

Panty and Stocking
Milky Holmes
Samurai Girls
Star Driver
MM!
Squid Girl
The World Only God Knows
Ore no Imouto

None of those shows are amazing, though. Mediocre season, unless I'm missing something good.

He's Muneakira. I even mentioned his name in my post. I actually don't find him too annoying, somehow. I guess he somes across as inoffensively lame, instead of an amazing harem master or something, or a completely idiotic loser who somehow has girls loving him anyway; at least this guy's competent at something, even if attitude-wise he fits right into type for his genre. At least he looks more competent than your average loser okatu harem lead.

Also, at times I think he's genuinely scared of girls... though I guess characters like him usually are to some degree, to justify why nothing ever happens romantically beyond maybe a kiss.

That said

It is true that usually she's pretty competent (and awesome), having her just completely fall apart like that just because of the power was kind of lame, I agree. They obviously wanted to show that kissing him gives power but without the serious fights of the previous episodes, but still, yeah, it was kind of weak.

... Oh yeah, and it looked like that whole pile of books on kissing that she read all opened like Western books, left to right. Huh. I thought most Japanese books go the other way, unless they use horizontal text... is it that they're textbooks or something, or is there a historical reference that I'm not quite remembering... hmm...

And the story, man is it worse than I originally thought, this is the type of shit I'll watch to rage on, I knew it would be like this but I didn't know just how much like this it would be. What, that doesn't make perfect sense to you? I mean, what better way of keeping them apart than having her live there, right? Makes perfect sense to me! :D

Still though, yeah, the princess is annoying, and definitely isn't exactly the most rational person. I like Jubei and Yuki better, neither of them are as irritating. The excuse was someting about wanting to watch them to not let them make some move (about what she was saying about the threat to Japan, about Muneakira, whatever) without being able to repond, but yeah, it's definitely some very suspiciously convenient sketchy logic. :)

And like all fan-service anime it's nice

Hey, remember, it's an alternate present, not the past. Completely different!

Also, the girls weren't Master Samurais until he kissed them. Why girls he kisses turn into Master Samurais, though, who knows... his Main Character Powers are obviously strong. :)

Other than that though, we have no idea if the other, regular, registered Master Samurais are male or female. Haven't met any yet. Some must be out there though, so I imagine we'll see at least one or two eventually.

We also would only know if it turned men into Master Samurais too if one kissed him, I imagine. Might be tough, with how so far he's the only male character.

So...the spirits working for the Ministry of Spiritual Affairs are much maligned for some reason. I guess it's because all those other people are racists!

Or it could be because these spirits go around spreading false hope, demolishing buildings and attempting to kill children!

Also, this is a disgustingly unprofessional organisation. They're supposed to be working together, not getting together.

This is kind of depressing. My interest in current shows seems to have almost completely disappeared. I casually catch an episode of SoreMachi or OreImo if I'm really bored but...bah.

Negima mou hitotsu no sekai 4: There's always time for Negima though, and lots of Eva makes for a wonderful episode! Is there any doubt she's the best character in the entire series? Looks like the next episode will lead right in to the tournament arc. Movie info now please! Animation is typical shaft quality and I can't help but feel that they're totally phoning this series in. Still has some fantastic moments from time to time though.

Finally got to watch the movie! It was actually much much better than I was expecting. Thought I was going to get 3/4 recap 1/4 new but it was more like the other way around. The series definitely deserved the movie treatment, the animation and the CGI was ridiculously better.

It wasn't a recap at all. 3/4 of the movie was similar to the first quarter of the series with a handful of reused animation. It's still telling essentially the same story, just in a totally different way.

And yeah, the movie is miles better than the series. I got a kick out of all the little references. "MMJeinus formation!" :D
