I'm so torn.

I want to side with The Institute because they're the most "mysterious" of the factions and I feel like we could get some super cool DLC stuff from that. But they aren't about protecting the greater good, just themselves it seems.

But I also feel like I should side with The Railroad. They're super boring and all, but they are essentially the "good guys" in the story since they're trying to make both Synths and Humans co-exist

Fuck the Brotherhood of Steel though, they're basically trying to commit mass genocide and all of their quests suck ass.

What did you guys do?

Railroad
since they are the rebellion trope good guys. But all factions are a little fucked up anyway, the story turns into a huge clusterfuck after you go to the
Institute

World state wise I also prefer to have
synths and BoS enemies after its over

So, I bought the Overseer's Guardian gun in
Vault 81
. This has to be the most OP gun in the game. I'm one shouting stuff I shouldn't be one shotting.
Any gun with the "double damage" modifer is basically OP. Although, I feel the Sniper Rifle should deal that much damage. There is even a mod out already which increases the damage by 35% out of the box, which I feel would balance it way better. I don't use it, but still, I can recommend it. The non-combat sniper rifle does even more damage (although has a far worse fire rate) and the Gauss Rifle is broken anyway. Reminder, that's WITHOUT any modifier. lol
pLBQWXg.jpg
As comparison, my "double damage" Sniper Rifle does 304 damage, my "+25% damage" Combat Shotgun 298 and my "double damage" Combat Sniper Rifle (Overseer's) does 271. With x5.3 Sneak damage, everything is a one shot anyway on survival.

For people still wondering since the question keeps popping up, not only does the game continue after you finish the story, there are quests that only show up after you finish the story, which is all sorts of neat

It's a shame the perk you get for fully friending Nick Valentine is so damn lame. All but useless.

I was just listening to the Bombcast and Jeff said you can take mods off of guns and put them on other guns. Even if you don't have the Gun Nut perk to a point where you can build a certain mod you can install it on a gun as long as you have the mod in your inventory.

Is this correct? How do you do that? And why the fuck don't they explain that?

I've been willy nilly scrapping guns with mods on them when I could have taken the mods off first.

The fact that the jetpack uses both AP and your fusion core charge pisses me off. My AGI is at 1 so I can't fly anywhere useful - even if I tap instead of hold to get further.

The companion perks aren't definitely all equal. Some are shit and some are amazing.

It's true, with one caveat: to remove a mod you have to build the basic version first to replace it. So it's not entirely free, but it's almost certainly cheaper than building the good mod yourself.

Whenever I send a companion or someone else to a settlement, Santuary is darkened and I can't send them there. Is there a reason for this or is it a bug?

Alright, so I'm looking to get all the trophies in one play through, which of course requires me to play through all the factions in the game. My question is considering how the game always warns you when you're about to get locked out of another faction, is it safe to play through each faction's quest line until I get that message? I'd prefer to avoid save-cheesing until the last possible moment.

What is a good number of energy canisters to have for power armor in order to deal with the Green Sea? I have put that mission off for close to ten hours since the side missions are so entertaining. Might as well get around to it now.

...1? They dont run out THAT fast nor do you take that long to get to where you need to go there

Actually no. For achievements the cut off point(s) is different than the cut off point for the actual quests. Also there isnt 1 magical point where it happens like some said, its different points for different factions. And the game not always warns you what will put the other factions in a fail state. I did some serious faction juggle to get as many quests as I could

Dealing with the whole area, or just going through the necessary main story parts? If the latter, I did it in one, easily. Just don't sprint and avoid using V.A.T.S. and you hardly drain at all. I do have that perk that increases the length though, so I get double efficiency. Maybe two, then? They don't drain very quickly if you just plod along.

Holy shit, I have mine modded the same way and its damage is "only" 345 and that's with Rifleman nearly maxed out. How did you get yours so damn high?
Rifleman (*200%), Lone Wanderer (*125%), Bloody Mess (*115%) Magazine (*105% for Scoped Weapons), Magazine (*105% at Night).

Anyone have numbers on what each point of luck grants you? Not perks but just calculations and such.

Debating between a legendary chest with 2 luck (for a total of 13) or a 10% cheaper AP per move chest.

10% AP is way better.

I'm getting really tired of enemies on different floors yelling at you like they're in the next room. The same thing happened in FO3. It would be nice if Bethesda bothered to update their enemy AI a bit more.

Anyone know if there's a power armor station in the castle? Can't find one and I don't really want to blow 2 lvls getting the perks to build one.

That should work just fine then. Thanks for the info. Doesn't matter if it is GTA or Fallout, I always put off missions with artificial time constraints. This doesn't sound too tedious though.

Spotted a raider way off in the distance that appeared to be crouching down behind cover so I sniped them and went down to investigate. Turns out she was just kneeling over the grave of her dead comrade. :(

I have the same perk on an arm piece. They stack right?
Not sure. I assumed not for some reason. Try it out and report back. Just equip one, go into vats and see how many shots you can line up and try to remember how much "white" you have left, then equip it and compare it if it's more or the same.

i like that armor as well but its stats are so shitty. are aren't any good armors in the game from my experience, its better to have them skin tight outfits and put armor pieces on it

Like the souls games, you either play the stat game or the fashion game.

Now she can be with him forever

Yeah they do stack.

As a first time fallout player where should I invest all my points ? I have put a lot into strength because I want to carry lots of shit . But unsure what the other good branches to invest in is .

Best stuff I have had in terms of actual defense was Kellog's outfit and now the Silver Shroud suit. I cannot think of a game where so much of the armor dropped by enemies is straight up garbage. I guess it works for the best since what I have been using has less encumberance, but it kills the thrill of looting mangled enemy corpses.

Well that's disappointing. Someone posted a video here of a guide to do everything in one playthrough so I guess I'll just follow that.

ps. Already dreading that 100% happiness trophy. Guess I'll just work on every settlement I have and see what happens :p

The reason for useless drops is the enemies drop what is actually equipped on their persons. It is a very difficult thing to balance. Do any other games do this?

Wait until you find explosive combat shotguns. They aren't unique, but if you raise the accuracy you can bombard far away enemies with them, often blowing multiple enemies apart with one shot.

What is the best way to get power cores without pick pocketing? I haven't put any points into sneaking and am not particularly good at it. What are my alternatives?

You'll get a feel for what you're going to want to lean towards as soon as you get to seen the perk screen, as it's all viewable from the word go. Stats are explained across the top row and some perks have multiple ranks. Looking through them, I think Perception has the least to offer but you'll still want a few points in that. You can't really go that wrong though, just do whatever. You can always reroll.

I've recently realised that taking Al of those chappy armours and scrapping the ones that let you into leather is a fairly decent source of the stuff. I often find myself running out, so while you can fill a lot of inventory space quickly, you can get something from those seemingly useless pieces.

There is a trillion on the map. Every enemy that uses power armor also has one. I sold like a 100 or so already (don't use power armor). At one location there were 5 in a pile.

Guess I need to look better then. For reference have just got to Diamond City.

For points I just go with the flow and then eventually refine them. I save my build info and then on my next play through I try something different.
