FF7 Rebirth launching for PC 1/23/25

I think they stopped caring about that when they initially began to put their AAA games on PC. It’s not really a “problem” for Sony if it makes them even more money; they’re firmly in the PC market now.
I think that Sony sees the win-win. PCs are getting more and more expensive to make - thanks to the GPUs, mostly - so a console will never stop being attractive for people who want to invest less than a thousand bucks for entry on a AAA gaming ecosystem. And those of us who refuse to venture into 'beta-male gaming hardware' territory, Sony knows we'll most likely dip our fingers in their library if they bring it to PC.

So even if 'just 50K people buy it on Steam', that still translates to 3 million dollar revenue (for starters), which I suspect costs less than what cost them to port the game on PC.

Day 1.

Barely scratched the surface of the PS5 because of how it looked on the system so this is welcome.
Yep, to the point I was going to get a Pro just for it but my game is on disc and the disc drive is still hard to come by. I'll just play it on my 4080 and save $800.

Fuckkk… do I halt my Pro playthrough? Only in the second area.

Hmmm if you're enjoying the Pro PSSR mode then I'd just continue.

The PC visual enhancement might not be huge. We won't know for a week or two until they share a bit more.

Serious question: Is FFXV the prettier game? Currently playing it on my PC and I can't help but feel the backgrounds and the environment in general looks more detailed in FFXV. The plantlife and the rocks in most screenshots of Rebirth look more flat, compared to FFXV.

Always in Sony ports to PC threads to piss and moan. Why don’t you just leave?
This isn't even a Sony game. I made an observation about the sales trends of this series on PC so far, and people are passing and moaning at me. Sorry you can't take it either.

Was a PS exclusive for a while. You’re alway bitching about Sony devaluing their platform with the ports. They ain’t stopping, so stop stinking up the threads of a platform you don’t play on.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Steam day one, hell yeah

With how close PC's and consoles are these days, i doubt many of these PC ports are costing more than 1-2mil to port.
You dont need to sell a lot of copies on PC for ports to be worth it to Sony.

And its all about getting their foot in the PC door anyway, these ports will get closer and closer and eventually day one releases, and thats when they will get bigger sales.

My friend, grow up and take a chill pill. The PCMR thing is ironic, you know, GAF threads about ports are not sacred ground. It's a sarcastic quip, and a few statements at direct address, you'll be okay.
Have fun with the game, if you plan to buy.

And, I am a part of the PCMR. I do play on PC. Do not insult your countrymen.

and thats when they will get bigger sales.
We shall see. Interested to see where it goes.

100% agree. People seriously underestimate the value of a global 'day 1' release on ALL platforms.

That said, Rebirth never sold REALLY well on PS5, so this isn't an exclusivity issue but a Final Fantasy issue.

Looks to be a lot more demanding than VII Remake was.

According to the article on their website there's a lot more graphical customization available in this port. Lighting, LOD, Texture Quality, Upscaling etc. Hopefully the pop-in issue is resolved as well.

Wow, if you don't already own Intergrade you can buy the twin pack of both games for $69. Man, I cannot wait to play this

Yah Rebirth pretty much flopped on PS5. This will help SE recoup some of the losses

If you loved FFVII Remake, there's a chance you'll hate this game.

I have no idea if you were "eh, it's alright" about FFVII Remake. You're weird.

Damn I wish they shadow dropped this, now that I have the time to play a long ass JRPG.

Already bought, let's see if this is as good as everyone says.

After the amount of custom ini fiddling I had to do to minimise traversal stutter with remake, I'll not be pre-ordering. Runs really well on the pro for the moment. I'll grab it later when I need my thicc tifa mods and flawless wide-screen makes the inevitably required Ultrawide patch.

The PC version introduces new features and customizations to take full advantage of the platform:

LIGHTING - Lighting has been adjusted, and the game's overall rendering of light is significantly improved. The updated areas and cutscenes present with even greater beauty and clarity than before.

FRAMERATE AND RESOLUTION - NVIDIA DLSS support means that frame rates can be enhanced and image quality upscaled. There is now also support for variable refresh rate (VRR).

TEXTURES - The Level of Detail (LoD) for background models and MIP maps for background textures can both be freely configured in the options settings. With this background polygon density and texture density can be set higher than was previously possible, allowing for gameplay with higher-quality graphics.

CONTROLLER INPUT SUPPORT
Connecting a DualSense® controller with a PC allows players to use the same controls as the PS5 version. Keyboard and mouse support has also been added, alongside the option to freely customize the controls between world exploration and combat or mini-games.

STEAM DECK - The Steam version is planned to be playable on Steam Deck as well.

That's really weird as it's surely not that much more hungry than remake, otherwise it'll look weird. I can run remake at 5760x2400 UW at 100fps on 3090.

They are starting to take PC seriously. Cool.

Well, did they made it into a real game this time? For what I know, it's a hub for mini-games dressed as an "open world" game with the most generic world you could imagine!

Surely gonna run like shit!

Will be interesting to see.

If it's decent on the deck then I reckon the entire trilogy will come to the Switch 2
Oh yeah, SD is basically an Indie machine these days, streaming from main rig if I wanna play anything AAA.
As for this, v cool, I like the discount too, may double up but tbh it looks and runs perfect on PS5 pro so no point.

Worst game of the year for me, so bloated with stupid shit and not giving us the most iconic scene in vídeo game history was cheap as hell.

DAY 1
Was waiting for this. My year long no game purchase goal is almost over and Rebirth will be my first purchase. Assuming it's not broken.
