Dat Canales. Ripping Barca's joke defense to shreds.

I was so excited back when we bought him. I thought him and Pedro Leon would make it big. :lol

Canales made Barca's defense look like a joke :lol

Come on, two good chances. They should have at least another goal. Moyes got this.

Which is the worse mistake? Barca selling Fabregas or Arsenal not buying him?

What's happened to Vermaelen?

Canales, what a turn... oof.

I have a feeling Laboured knows.

Arsenal not buying him.

He's perfect for the PL.

Biggest mistake Barça has made in a long, long time. Such a stupid decision.

Cesc was shit for barca. Was right decision to sell him.

It's like selling Suarez now, then posting "barca had him" and a picture of him at Liverpool.

Cesc is much better at Chelsea and arsenal than he was for barca.

It isn't exactly an easy task to find proper replacements for Xavi and Iniesta. It's gonna be a while before players of their caliber (when they were on their prime) appears. They were simply magical. I believe Barca did a bad job though at finding other options that were good.

Look how Madrid did when all the big stars started retiring ten years ago or so. Barca were never going to stay at the level Pep brought them up to.

Well, it's not so easy to get good defenders these days.
Just browse through the good clubs, there are barely teams that have a real great defensive lineup with good substitutions.

Xavi and Iniesta was something you could see coming.
Obviously it's hard to replace them, but the age where players will retire will lower over the next years.
Xavi and Iniesta were constantly playing in the CL,La Liga and for the national team, they played so many freaking games.
Especially those players that started at a pretty young age like Sahin,Götze or Draxler won't play longer than 32, at least not even close to the level their currently on.

The biggest reason is Pep penny.

Messi, Pique, alves, Neymar, rakitic should be starting.

Yolo

Pep would have done it.
Partly.

As I elaborated above, it's hard to get decent replacements, but Barca waited too long until they took the necessary steps.
They should try to get some proper youth talents into the team when they're playing against opponents that won't be a problem.

Yeah, but he didn't fit because of the team's formation and strategy. Cesc needs a pure 9 to play with.

Should have kept hold of Cesc & Thiago as replacements for Iniesta & Xavi.

Oh fuck, I'd forgetten about Thiago! Please understand, players that go to BundesLOLga get lost in its irrelevancy, akin to a ship sailing into the Bermuda Triangle.

With that said, Barcelona are truly run by incompetent, mentally handicapped pineapples.

From what I've seen of Iniesta this season, he's become a pale shadow of his former self. He used to keep it simple in a way which let the more direct threats get on the ball constantly, in dangerous positions. Now he keeps it simple in a way which does fuck all for the team, just looking for the closest player and passing to him no matter what the situation, who that player is, how many players are around him, what the alternatives are.

Obviously that's not helped by the fact that he used to be passing to players on the top of their game, but still.

Its like he's stuck in Pep's last season, while the rest of the team have moved on from the tiki-taka for tiki-taka's sake tactics

Cesc just didn't quite fit Barca, partially because he wanted to play in the same spaces Messi took up when he dropped deep.

Selling Thiago was a ridiculous decision.

Barca need a two new CBs, a RB and young MC. Zubi should have been sacked ages ago. FF, pls.

Arsenal not getting him back for sure. You could argue replacing him with Rakitic isn't even an upgrade, but he wasn't doing it for Barca. Even discounting his current form, which is better than anyone would've anticipated, the simple morale boost of getting a club legend back and the lift it would've given their midfield was enough of a reason.

Not saying I don't understand why Arsene passed on him, I do, but I still think it's a bad decision.

Handball, no penalty.

Not all teams get calls.

Mhmm... a yellow for that. OK...

Oh shit, just saw the Sociedad-Barca score....

I will never doubt Moyes again.

Don't worry BarcaGAF, now that I'm watching, Barcelona will play better and end with a win.

Good defenders are hard to find these days but if anything I think Barca did a biggest mistake there, Xavi is old, Iniesta has lost his magic but they still have enough talent up there, for the stuff Iniesta and Xavi are missing Messi, Suarez and Neymar can help with. However their defense...

But yeah Xavi and Iniesta was something you could see coming, but the amount of pressure on the replacements would be immensely high because of the expectations...so I don't think people would have been satisfied either way.

I do agree though that they should use their youth against opponents that don't spell trouble but at the same time Barca can't afford that atm. Trophy-less previous season (except the Supercopa?)...that's a big no-no. They need one significant trophy this season and I don't think they want to take risks by putting out their youth in any league gamesö

That would be foolish.
The transfer ban is still in, and getting the talent up when everybody else is injured will not work out.
Getting them some minutes should help alot more, unless there are no talents :X

I also saw Pep with the blue scarf.

Perfect summary of what I think about Iniesta the past 2-3 seasons. He just seems lazy now, doesn't even look like he makes any effort.

We can loan you Anderson and Fletcher.
But they are EPL players. EPL players do not know how to control the weather. They aren't made for Serie A m24.

I do agree that Arse not buying Fabregas back was the biggest mistake. Just the boost alone from having a club legend return would have been a massive help...Wenger please.

Its fantastic

They got lucky to have the beginning of the transfer ban delayed. They knew it was coming. They had money to spend. They knew their weaknesses. They had to stop the decline. They had months to prepare and sort out some long term fixes in defense.

And they bought Vermaelen.

Fucking idiots.

Easily a bigger fuck up by Arsenal. Barca have enough talent to make up for his loss. Arsenal, sadly my friend, have diddly squat.

And Mathieu... you could argue there's no real value in the market for defenders nowadays considering the likes of Hummels are staying put, but heck, Ezequiel Garay is an international with experience, was available for 15m and ended up in Russia. Benatia was offered around and went to Bayern late in the window iirc. Juve has plenty of defenders :p and it's not like Barca have no money to pry one up.

There were a few options out there if they really wanted. I guess they didn't.
