Phil pls
I've been to LA. I wasn't impressed.
You need to be more patient with the ball, you got lucky with a draw there.
please read the thread
arnie's post was exceptional
shanks dont cry
it'll all be o.k. with claude and ty in heaven
Who did we steal from Arsenal (1998-2004), Man City, Chelsea or Liverpool?
van Persie doesn't count because we weren't rivals then. Shearer might count if we had actually got him.
The situations really aren't all that similar. United's history of taking top talent from within their own league never targeted one club, a direct and immediate rival with uncapped aspirations, thus leaving them as a broken entity.
I suppose the equivalent would've been for them to buy Silva, Kompany and Aguero in successive seasons. But even then City could've just bought someone else, Dortmund seemingly couldn't.
It's sad to watch but it's what you expect from the Bundesliga.
Sell Giovinco to us you selfish corrupt club. He's wasting his time there.I like how we're completely ignoring Giovinco and his agent :lol :lol

Fuck Juve.
wilbur, is this what you are on about?
United stole Cantona from the league champions at the time, they tried to take Shearer from Rovers when they were United's nearest rivals and they did all they could to rake Paddy V from Arsenal when we were United's nearest rivals
but ignore all that and just laugh at Bayern
3 examples in 20 years.
Two of which didn't come off and one which is tenuous at best.
I mean it's a pretty silly argument as it is but even then the situations aren't even close to one another.
Why is it silly? United tried to take their nearest rivals best player, but they got turned down. Bayern tried to take their nearest rivals best play and they succeed. United are just failures.

Parma is very close to getting a deal done with Nocerino. We want to increase the average age of the team even further!he really is. And he's wasting ours too, let's not forget.
Parma is very close to getting a deal done with Nocerino. We want to increase the average age of the team even further!the sad truth is that he is better than anything we have in midfield so I am happy for it....
Also, we're intending to get Campagnaro and Gonzales from Lazio...at this point I think we truly want to get the average age above 30Gonzales is an upgrade too :lol
The argument is silly because it's one of those "WAYNE ROONEY" you can't laugh at this or say that because once upon a time this happened ones.
The examples you gave are sparse, at least in comparison to what you're comparing them against with Bayern right now - and they're also a very long time ago. Some United fans won't even remember when we signed Cantona or tried to sign Shearer etc.
You said it's a "long history" - it's clearly not.
FTR, I don't hold it against Bayern or whatever, they're doing what they think that have to do. It makes sense for them. But if people do have a problem with it or whatever, not sure something that happened 20 years ago means they're now hypocrites.
Shanks, ONE player in over two decades is hardly a trend.
United did it the right way.
Arsenal - 90TilInfinity, Anderson, Baconsaurus Rex, Boozeroony, colonisation, DangerousMali, DOBERMAN INC, Dibbz, Freewheelin', Ghouse, Ingeniero, Meus Renaissance, Judderman, Kweh, Lightning, omgkitty, pix, Plasma, Salvadora, Az, hiroshawn, Abraxas, bud, the walrus, Burgess_101, Suen, Ribbed Hero, phaze, luxstellarum, GHG, Akros, Juz, Mr.Marston, Barzul, ashecitism, Shanks D Zoro, Baki, Kassu, The Incarnation, wedward, Tambini, EmiPrime
Arsene Wenger is a 'specialist in failure' - Jose Mourinho
what I think really happened: they asked him to significantly reduce his (7+ mil) salary if he wanted a contract renewal
other teams just gave up worse then what Dortmund did. United akways wanted to take their nearest rivaks bst player. Only difference between them and Bayern is that Bayern gave up easier.
United always tried to take their nearest rivals best player, regardless of success or failure.

What? Yes, Wenger is a failure, you want a circle jerk to celebrate this?
Are Liverpool hurting for money?
I doubt they would do that.
who are you talking about? I can't think of anyone honestly
Carrick? Berba? Rio? S...Smith?
United tried to take Vieria from Arsenal, and Shearer from Blackburn. Shearer wanted Newcastle above all others and Wenger refused to sell Paddy to United.
The fact remains that Unired tried to take their nearest rivals best player for near a decade.
They only succeed in taking Cantona , but they tried to take more beyond him
You say always but you can't give examples of us trying to take someone off the other clubs that challenged us; Liverpool, Chelsea or City.
You sad United did everything to get Vieira - but we don't really know what everything is.
I'm not suggesting United haven't tried to take players from the opposition, of course they have and that is what many if not all clubs do. But it's pretty clear it's different to what has been happening in Germany where the landscape is completely different - which is why as I said earlier, it's a bad comparison.
You're doing well to run a long way with a little bit of string.
If you want to make this argument it would be easier to say that United tried to run over the competition just like Bayern by outspending them and pushing the costs up in English football.
Okay, Bayern have succeed where united failed in the 90s
FFP (they're in the red IIRC)
7+ million for a 35 y/o is way too much.

Right - if you want to simplify, you can say that.
It's still one of those silly moral policing type arguments.
Go back another 20/30 years and you can find more ammunition.
Did you notice how Leeds tried to buy Irwin and only then did Fergie offer to buy Cantona
fucking leeds scum stealing rivals players
To be fair I don't know anything about that. That is the first time I ever ever heard of that.
I can't imagine sitting on the bench after being the main man at Liverpool is something he would happy with. Carra retired for the same reasons.
precisely, and your board (transfer committEH) knew that
this all outta my arse obviously, but...food for thought!
Did you even follow football in the 90's?

Of course that is a well know know thing thing in premier league history. Get real Viva, only reason why you know know that is because Wilbur said it
I doubt it would be a decision made with the implications of FFP in mind. You can present the number in various way to lesser the burden.
If it was down to some kind of contractual issue I'd guess it was more about length of contract than salary.
