Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

Was that the Vette on Sebring in the wet? that's a tough combo!

The very same! He got 3:03 and wanted to see "How a pro did it", so I hopped into my beanbag and gave it a whirl.

Was giving your ghost a good run until Turn 10, when I didn't brake fast enough, but still put up a time of 2:50.

After trying and spinning out many times, the next time my bro finished the race, he also got 2:50.

God knows how I ever managed 2:42 clean haha.

does the reflection in this view not disorient anyone else? like as you turn a corner your eyes follow the reflection instead of the car, and you lose track of where the car is even facing? i had it in driveclub too. it seems to consistently fuck with my head, which is a shame because it's my preferred view in terms of clarity, and sense of speed.

My eyes are on the road, not the bonnet when racing in that angle.

Does it even matter when you don't seem that interested in the game anyway?

i really wish i liked sim racers, this would have been the game to get me to buy an xbone if i did.

Xbox one - Forza 6 in game.

those are not very flattering

I used to get that effect on one of the PGR games.

To me it's different watching a moving image to playing as my focus is elsewhere. Paint the cars in matte if its a huge problem.

Yes, it's an issue, was the same in FM5 and feels weird.

I usually stick a Matte bonnet on the car too.

You should have tried Project CARS on PS4 before patch 3.0 - the bonnet reflections were incorrectly mapped so they always slid in from one side and didn't reflect the road ahead. Now THAT shit was disorientating..!

How it used to be:

All's good now though.

i guess i find the reflection quite prominent...it's why i asked. and it was just a general thing i experience in racers in that view. i tend to have to make my paintwork matte for me to not lose track of where i'm going. it's almost like the camera is turning to look into a corner, but the car is still moving in the same direction it was prior to the corner. as i said, my eyes can't help follow the reflection. just a weird optical illusion, but i guess it's just me.

EDIT: and to be fair, those screenshots weren't very flattering. we know the game looks better then that. it was weird to see in a thread dedicated to beautiful looking screenshots.

Give your car a matte finish!

I'm 100% the same.

I'm really impressed by that GAF car. I'm having fun making videogame sprite decals for other people to use, but I don't think I have the knack to make great layouts like that.

Man, you add so much to this thread. It's fantastic.

messing about with the demo i'm looking closer at these 3D puddles and really there's not visually 3D, just a shiny texture, you can even leave skid marks on top of the puddle which look unnatural, it's more like a slab of glass/ice then water.

damn, so excited for tomorrow. I only played the first 2 races of the demo cause I just want to play the career when it means something. Just made sure I unlocked the Ford GT!

i'm going to assume sarcasm. in which case, how did general praise of a livery add anything meaningful the thread either? lol

someone agrees with the bonnet view being disorientating though, so at least i know i'm no longer alone.

I think the 3D nature of the puddles is more to do with the way the depth of the puddle affects the physics of the simulation, rather than them being 3D in appearance.

As far as I am aware, FM6 is unique in the way the depth of puddles affects the physics, in games like PCars the visual puddles aren't even affecting the physics in any way, the visual and physical aspect of the puddles are on different layers, and hopefully in the same place!

No it isn't. It's a thread with screenshots of console games. It's just people being blinded by endless photomode shots of other games there, they start thinking the games look like that when you are playing them.

Glad to see that hasn't been dropped. I have three young kids - two boys and a girl. And my daughter often asks why she can't play as a girl. Well she can be a girl in Forza now and in FIFA. Minecraft has already got there - so along with the varied characters in the Lego games that's the games my kids play mostly covered.

I understand that, it's more of an important decision for kids to have the option, as adults we can just go "whatever" and move on from an option like this.

The Test Drive Unlimited games did the game character creation in a racer really good imo; you get to see your character a lot and in small "cutscenes" when entering a race, shop etc. I really wish Forza Horizon 2 had this feature as you often saw your character and he wasn't wearing a racing suit and helmet.

no doubt that the puddle is more physical then visual but tires don't even submerge in big puddles, and driving through them at about 30mph shows little to no splash up which is why it's like driving on glass.

I'm still super happy for weather to be in forza despite that.

One option IMO is missing there, the stig.

For young children I think it's to see themselves validated. My daughter will be able to say "see, girls can be racing drivers too."

I agree about Horizon. In fact I'd like to be able to get out and go for a walk. Or even be able to fly somehow.

That's so cool to hear, I really get that it's important for them. I recently became dad to a baby girl so I'm hoping more games will have stuff to draw girls in, that are "typical" boy games.

I played coop through all the Gears of War games with a female friend, and she thought it was great that Gears 3 had female characters for example.

Yeah totally, I get that we can't have pedestrians everywhere due to hardware limitations. But one character, and being able to get out of your car and snap a photo of your digital alter ego next to it; would be awesome!

Thanks, Google translate is amazing....

Wet monkey FTW

I'm the one who wrote half the review and put it together. What that means (I wrote that part) is that when racing in an open cockpit car, you'll see the rain dropping on the driver's overalls and on the dash/steering wheel, which is neat.

I prefer the wet monkey :)

Infact, I like it so much..

Forza Motorsport 6 [OT] : the flyer and the wet monkey

Reviewed rather nicely, seems like the franchise is both secure and it's focus is still appealing enough to not need a rehaul.

Fingers crossed this gen will be the last we see of static weather and TOD and the next Xbox can easily cope with the demands of a native resolution, 60fps and all the visuals we really should be demanding.

I was hoping for more customization then just sex.

In 2 videos I also had the feeling that some puddles were not on the lowest point of the track area surrounding that spot... Theoretically that can still be accurate, but it also seemed like the surface of the puddle was tilted and going slightly uphill. I really don't want to question every puddle during my time playing it, so I hope that I can blend that out, that's one thing I really don't want to care or be the pedantic physics critic about.
