If it helps a bit :
- Navigate to the Games menu on the PlayStation 5 home screen and select the Quake game hub
- Select the (…) overflow menu and select "PS5|Full|Quake PS5 Upgrade
- Select the PlayStation 5 tile to launch the product page, then select "Download"

Seems like Bethesda is intentionally going out of their way to prevent save data transfers from PS4 versions to PS5 for whatever reason. They did the same thing with DOOM Eternal while other developers have managed data transfer from PS4 to PS5 with no issue. Methods exist, so it’s unclear why Bethesda isn’t trying.

The saves aren’t transferred on Xbox. They are literally the same save, it happens automatically, with no developer intervention.
Same reason why you can play the series X version and then go back to XB1 and your save will come backwards as well.
Only time a developer would have to modify the save is if they want an import option and choose not to use smart delivery.

Tell me how this smart delivery system works for disc based games where you have really alow internet or data cap and cannot download the current gen version all together
Both systems have it's pro's and con's. One requires more steps,bu at least you can buy a disc with the actual current game on it.

I understand, it's a cloud save, as noted in the developer notes they released today for Quake. But the process most commonly employed on PS5 is pretty much the same; the save file isn't changed or converted, it's just transferred over PSN, so I'm left speculating as to why Bethesda is just skipping out on PS5.
To be honest, my guess is that there is a charge by Sony to facilitate save transfers over their network and Bethesda would rather keep the change (whether that be out of a "fuck you" mentality or they find it principally abhorrent to charge for such a service, who knows).

Or you can just press the Options button on the PS4 version that you already have and download the PS5 version. Not that any of that matters, just a shame that a thread about something so positive was turned on it's head so early.vs
Really happy to see this happening so quickly, I know that some on here had said they were expecting the RTX version but full path tracing is going to be far too much for any of the consoles.
I bought the Switch version a couple of days ago, I know own this and the Doom console remakes on all three consoles but I don't really understand why. It helps that they're such good games and so cheap I suppose.
Still disappointed with the mandatory CRT filter on Doom 64 though,
Apparently it isn't chargeable but it's supposed to be a pretty new introduction to the API so it's not an automatic thing as of yet.
It's all different on Xbox now as they're essentially turning it into a PC where the game binaries are the same and and updated games just add new code to the same game so this sort of stuff doesn't really have to even be supported, you're essentially playing the same game on any platform so the save file is the same too so it's just there.
The save file thing should become far more common moving forward although it is starting to happen where some games just load the old save file now or at least reference it rather than using it

As several people iahve already posted in the thread, that really isn't the current cross gen structure. However I would agree that not having to do anything is generally better although I would always prefer to have the option to play the last gen version over the current gen version when needed as both platforms have had releases where the previous generation has been a smoother experience.
Hopefully both platforms will make it a hands off experience but also allow the user the choice when it's beneficial to them.

Downloaded it and I guess 120hz doesn't work if your TV isn't 4k 120, mines 1440p 120. Or I just can't see the improvement.
Also, it seems to run worse than the ps4 version. Don't know if it's frame pacing, but it feels choppy

I saw a dev on the other forum say that 120 isn't working properly on ps5 for some reason. Something changed between patch submission and push out.
People are saying it's running worse now on ps5.

I have both SS and PS5 and smart delivery really is better. Some PS5 games, like FFVII, I had to download the PS4 version just to get my saves. Needless to say I now remember I have Quake on GP, so w/e.
Its not much work, but you'll understand if you have both systems. PS ecosystem comes off as cumbersome with these things.

That's Quake 2 and it's a PC exclusive.
This thread is about Quake 1 that was recently remastered by Nightdive with an extra mini campaign by Machine Games.

They treat it as 2 different games, therefore 2 different saves.
It's not that hard.
Otherwise you have to go into your PS4 game upload the save, sign into PS5 and retrieve it, and it can never go back.
You say cloud saves and games are easy, but only one company has shown that they really are.
Don't get mad at the developers who have to follow the convoluted rules the game box designers made.

Now, I'm sure there exist disc Smart Delivery games that don't contain the data for a specific version, so you either have to download the One or Series version, but that's nothing to do with the system.

The haptics are cool, IMO, in the first couple mins of play. The shotgun has adaptive trigger, and kind of a reverb feel on shooting it, really neat IMO.

I know that adaptive triggers are used since i felt them while playing but the implementation is not the best.
What i'm missing is the vibrations from the Dual Sense itself. Turned it up all the way in the options menu but there is nothing when i play.
